Ahh, this is what I love about all-star seasons… lack of predictability. What was a 5-3 split quickly turns into 2-7 the other direction. Just goes to show… if you’re going to incorporate unreliable people into your alliance, you better be doing your job babysitting them. Instead, everyone in the majority alliance took Abi for granted, she ended up flipping, giving Varner the chance he saw to flip (with the other three following out of convenience).
Kinda wondered why they voted the way they did… I’m glad Spencer got to stay around as he’s the much better player (between him and Shirin), which is exactly why I would’ve voted him out. I don’t think “need stronger players for the challenges” is really a valid gameplay concern any more the way the game is set up now.
I really do wonder what’s up with Abi, though… I don’t want to say she’s a sociopath or anything, but she does seem to lack even a basic knowledge of how to interact with people at times. What the heck was up with the conversation she tried to start with Peih-Gee when Spencer approached her asking about the chimney fire, for example? Just bizarre.
I know the producers are capable of creative editing in order to create story lines, but it sure seems as though “second chance” equates to “group therapy island escape” for Abi, Shirin, and Spencer. My only other thought is: “what happened to Wiglesworth’s face?”
I don’t know if this is considered a spoiler or not, but just in case:
Spencer is very lucky they are mixing up the tribes next week, but he needs good luck to make sure he’s not paired up with too many of his former tribemates.
As irritating as Abi Maria is, the player who most grates on my nerves is Cass. I used to work with a lot of people like that. Ugh…
Wow, gotta love Survivor and how fast things can change, even when those changes disfavor the ones you’re rooting for. I hadn’t realized just how *much *I was pulling for Spencer until that Tribal Council when I was sitting on pins and needles, just hoping and praying it would be Shirin who went and not him. And I love Shirin! Didn’t want her to go either.
Stupid Abi.
She’d make a great person to sit next to in the finals, but what a risk to take to drag her there. She’s completely unpredictable, ready to burn down your house for any perceived slight. You’d have to watch her 24/7, and even then there’s no guarantees. Not sure she’s worth it…there are better goats to be had.
I am disappointed in Spencer for neglecting to nurture his relationship with Woo, and good on Woo for pointing that out and standing his ground. He surprised me with that one.
I thought it was pretty rich of Jeff V. to talk about Spencer and Shirin playing too hard…he’s playing harder than anybody! Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but don’t be a hypocrite.
And on the other tribe…what was all that happy crappy about Savage and his wife? He found a supermodel in his apartment? And she went away and came back? Or something? And that’s it? She’s not dead or surviving cancer or something? Why are people crying? I don’t get it.
And yes, show…Joe is awesome. We get it. Please stop now.
So glad for the tribe shakeup next week…hopefully Spencer will be able to find new life in a new group. Now just don’t screw it up again, kid!
One thing I really like about seasons with veteran players, the game moves much faster. After last week, it seemed like the majority were just going to settle in and pick off the minority one by one, but in just one episode, the leaders of the majority were fighting for their lives.
I also liked Abi appearing out of no where like a horror movie monster and saying “I heard everything you said.”
I’m with you Peski, when he was tearing up, my wife rolled her eyes and I said, “well, she’s got to be dead or something,” but nope he was just crying because his wife is so hot and everyone else cried too becuase his wife is so hot.
It was such a beautiful story. Like a Disney fantasy come true. Rich dude meets supermodel and fall in love. The ultimate come-back tale of heartbreak and triumph!!
You forgot the shocking twist! She went away! But then came back!
Although I did like how they used it to point out how social inept Steven can be. Group of people cry about a story of how a man met his wife -> Married guy walks off to be alone -> Married guy must be looking for an idol! :smack:
I like that when he described the first time he saw his wife, she was “the most beautiful brunette I’d ever seen.” Not the most beautiful woman, but of all the women with brown hair, she was #1. It’s like that Flight of the Conchords song about the most beautiful girl in the room (and when you’re on the street, depending on the street, I bet you’re definitely in the top three).
Oh, I know! I was too…I was just poking more fun at Savage. Those are the words he used to describe Stephen Fishbach when Stephen had the audacity to question whether Jeremy might be off looking for the idol.
I kind of liked Fish in his original season because he and JT had this Ratso Rizzo and Joe Buck thing going. This year he hasn’t found anyone to pimp for yet.
And I still don’t remember a damn thing about Peih-geih (or however she spells it). The only people I actually remember about the China season are the gay flight attendant winner, Amanda, the lunch lady and big muscley James who went home with TWO hidden immunity idols in his bag.
Wasn’t Peih the architect who drove everyone crazy with her management of camp life? I think she was oblivious about much she rubbed everyone the wrong way. I also vaguely remember she was wearing a blaze that got increasingly ratty as time went on.
I can only think that it was heavily edited, because I was actually laughing at first because it was such an absurdly vain story. Then I felt guilty because I, too, thought that maybe she was dead. But, no, he’s still living with South Africa’s (or was it South America?) Top Model.
