I agree, I thought for sure Christa and Rupert would vote for Sandra, and Darah was a maybe. Ryno and Tij were swing votes in my mind since I figured Burton and Jon would vote for Lill for two reasons - 1, they dragged Lill along with them and she was somewhat of an ally, and 2 they were against Rup/Sandra/Christa (who basically ruled Drake) from day one. I think Lill really lost it in the question/answer session, she should have been honest with Burton and played the Ally card with Jon. Oh well, I’m glad she’s not a good judge of human character, if she would have won I would have screamed. Like squeegee I liked Sandra from the first episode when she was very-take charge and helpful in the village.
In addition to what Road posted, there was the Colby streak in Australia, during which he won two immunity challenges that, according to the rules described at the beginning of the challenge, he should have lost.
In the plate breaking challenge, the winner was to be the last person with an “intact” plate. That person was Elizabeth; Colby’s last plate had not been knocked down, but it had been hit and chipped, and was thus not intact. Amber was booted that tribal council, and I think it’s entirely possible that maybe her invite to All Star might be related to this.
In a later challenge involving rope guides, Colby was specifically reminded by Jeff to keep at least one carabiner on a rope at all times. In the course of winning the challenge, he at one point removed both carabiners.
It doesn’t bother me when the switch tribe members; I think it’s a neccesary element to keep original tribe alliances from dominating the game. Without it, you’d likely be seeing a Tagi run nearly every show.
What bothers me is when they either do not follow the stated rules or fail to monitor the challenges sufficiently well enough to ensure a fair outcome.
AGH. Are they going to replay the reunion show ever? It’s what I was waiting for but 60 minutes or football went over 50 minutes into the time slot and I missed the whole dang thing on the tape.
What I couldn’t believe is that no one in the last tribal council pointed out that Lil shouldn’t have been there because she’d already been voted out! I suspect that’s a strong reason Sandra won with such a huge margin.
Jon was a lame-ass right to the end. “Oooh, I’m going to go to Tribal Council and be just as big a jerk as I always have been. Oooh. I’m naughty!” Followed by, “So, uh, do you feel like you were a good Puerto Rican/Scout out here?”
And I have to agree with Jeff that it’s idiotic to take the view that Lil wasn’t allowed to lie, cheat, or backstab just because she happened to wear her Scout shirt to what she thought was a photo shoot. The attitude everyone had about that boggled my mind.
Who wants to bet that Jon will be gone first in the All-Star game?
I have never seen a Survivor episode replayed. I think your only two options will be to find someone who taped it or buy the DVD when it comes out.
I look at it from a different angle. Sure, she should be allowed to lie, manipulate, and backstab as much as anyone else (cheating, on the other hand, no). But, knowing that this was the nature of the game, she chose to go into it wearing her scout uniform. Yeah, I know that the jumping overboard was a surprise, but the castaways had been expecting a publicity shoot that day, and she did play up the scoutmaster thing early on, so it’s a bit hypocritical of her to come back later and say that those two things are completely separate.
Personally, I’ve never had the hostility towards the outcast idea others had. The whole show’s about manipulation; why single out one particular example? In my opinion, the most unfair thing done on the show went back to the first episode; they dumped two tribes into a Panamanian village to buy supplies and only one tribe had a Spanish speaker. The Morgans started at a huge penalty because of the difference in supplies that resulted and it showed in their subsequent play. You could certainly argue the whole show was decided from that one decision by the producers.
I was figuring Sandra was going to win but I expected it to be closer. Obviously she had Rupert and Christa’s vote. I also figured Jon and Darrah would be too pissed at Lill to vote her way. But I thought Lill would get Burton out of their old outcast arrangement and Ryan along with Tijuana because of the old Morgan loyalty. But Lill’s performance at the final council was terrible; once I saw it, I thought Sandra had a good chance to sweep the board.
I’ve got the reunion show on tape, but haven’t watched it yet. Rdm, if you can’t find it anywhere else, let me know. (But don’t send an email; the address I have in my profile is no longer active.)
Ryan mentioned it. When he asked Lill why they should vote for her despite her having skipped several days of the contest, she gave a terrible answer.
Didn’t she also so the “Scouts honor” thing with Burton during the luxury trip during the episode that Rupert was kicked off? She sure brought up the Scouts a lot during the show to make herself seem more useful or honest but then wants to seperate herself from it at the end. She made the bed and was mad when she had to sleep in it.
The best comment regarding her being in the Scouts was by Andrew Savage when Lill lost Morgan’s last fishing hook. In the show, he said something close to, “You figure someone who was a scout leader would know how to tie a simple knot and not lose the hook”.
Check out the video here where Savage complains about Lill. It seems she actually did harm to her tribe instead of just being deadweight.
Oh my God, so much to say I don’t think I’ll remember everything!
This was by far the most satisfying ending to a Survivor (for me) since Brian beat Clay to win Survivor Thailand. I wanted Sandra to win so badly that I was sure she had no chance, especially after Christa was voted out. Somewhere around the middle of the season I realized that she was really playing a brilliantly tight game and not just slipping through the cracks as many people thought. I’m surprised to see so many people on this thread happy that she won because for the past few weeks I only noticed two or three others besides me who were rooting for her. Most people complained she was bitchy or mean spirited and even speculated that she’d face hell at the reunion for letting Christa take the blame for the fish and plotting to sabotage the tribe if she was voted off. As I suspected, no one seemed mad at her at the reunion, not even Christa.
I LOVED how Jeff, in an obvious attempt to embarrass Jon, asked if any of the women hooked up with Jon after the show. Nicole’s expression was priceless and my wife and I laughed heard when Darrah drawled “No, I don’t find him appealing”. And what was he thinking when he said he wanted to be the most popular Survivor among women? The guy went out of his way to sound like a chauvinist asshole. It was also in extremely poor taste when he joked that “Maybe for the all stars my grandpa will die”. The audience booed, the other Survivors looked disgusted and Jeff looked shocked.
Was it just me or did anyone else hear someone in the audience yell “PUSSY!” at Osten when Jeff started talking to him? I loved that Osten’s torch wasn’t included with the others in the fire tribute and that they showed the clip of him screaming “I need help!” in the water after showing his discarded torch. I didn’t expect him to be there tonight either because he wasn’t invited or because he’d be a no-show, but I think they’re contractually obligated to be there. Deb from Survivor Australia clearly didn’t want to be at the reunion after the scandal she went through when she returned from Survivor for marrying her step son, but she was there anyway.
POSSIBLE SURVIVOR ALL STARS SPOILER!
Did anyone else think that Rupert was in EXTREMELY good spirits tonight, having just returned from the All Star edition? He also made that comment “I KNEW I could beat Richard Hatch!” Jeff tried to downplay it by saying “Poor Richard Hatch is always getting knocked down,” but I’ve got a strong feeling that Rupe got very far in the All Star edition and might be in the final two because I strongly doubt that he would’ve handled back to back disappointments so well.
I like your thinking, RainbowThief.
I was on other boards where people took Jeff’s shocked look after Jon’s comment to mean that he was on All-Stars and had just let the cat out of the bag, or something. I think it was more because Jon joked about having his grandmother die in front of her, basically. He was SUCH a turd for the whole episode–“if it was a getting pregnant contest, then they would win.” Bleh. I can’t think of a more misogynistic Survivor contestant. But in a sense, it must have been totally awful to get to the final three, and have Lill pick Sandra instead of him, so I feel better about that.
Speaking of Lill–holy crap, that woman didn’t get any less psycho, did she? From Burton (I cracked up about that, too) and Jeff (did anyone else notice that?) cutting her off at the reunion show, to cussing out the jury during her final statement, she never failed to disappoint. I LOVED how she said that Sandra used bad language, and then five minutes later started swearing herself. Her whole final statement just reeked of defensiveness and hostility. Maybe she knew then that she didn’t have a chance. And her hysterics over her letters from home were just pathetic. While they may not have been faked, all of the other four were able to read their letters without smearing them all over their face and keening over each one for twenty minutes. God, I hated Lill.
Anyway, I haven’t been so happy about a Survivor victory since Africa, so I’m satisfied. Mark Burnett, you have atoned for Jenna Morasca! I can’t wait for All-Stars!
…and that last post would be me. Since Ramanujan doesn’t live with me anymore, that shouldn’t be happening again. Sorry.
I’m so glad that Lill didn’t win. Her theatrics when she received her letters from home made me want to reach through the screen and rip out her tear ducts. Besides that she also resembles one of the anchovies from Spongebob Squarepants. MEEP!
Worst Survivor Season since the horrid “V” won. Way too many new gimmicks that backfired horribly. Probably the least likable final four ever. This after the strong season last year too.
Lill remained clueless and undeserving to the end. Sandra rode coattails all the way until the good players were gone.
The Outcast thing was stupid and ruined the whole season. Also what was with the stupid jury taking part in an immunity challenge- and a final four one at that? Another massive blunder by Burnett this season.
A major disappointment all around, and one that was self-inflicted by Burnett. After last season’s success, he got cocky. Maybe All-Star will be better.
I think they did it the first season- replayed the whole season in order. Of course, that was because of the building nature of the show. Also, that was before CBS had 18 versions of CSI and Jag on.

Several people in this thread have commented about who is in/not-in the All Star game. Did CBS post player list already, or is this info on some spoiler site (please tell me where!)?
What?!? I completely missed that story. What’s the scoop?
I don’t see anything so terrible about “riding coattails” as a strategy (one doesn’t have to be a master manipulator to excel in Survivor a la Burton and Jon trying to orchestrate the voting), and I don’t even think that’s what Sandra was doing. I thought she carved out an important role for herself as a vote while smartly choosing her alliances within Drake and then Balboa. I loved her sneaking around spying on Burton and Jon as well. Sandra had a good thing going with Rupert and Christa and knew she could depend on those votes at the final TC.
Lill still just sucks, but not as much Jon. I still wanted to hurt him greatly, especially when he had that disgusting porn star mustache at Tribal Council. I can’t stand people that thrive on getting people pissed off at them; he was eating up every single “booooo” he got at the reunion show.
The cast of All Star Survivor:
Blue Team: Ethan, Rudy, Rupert, Jenna L., Jerri & Tina
Green Team: Richard, Colby, Lex, Jenna M., Shii Ann, Kathy
Red team: Rob M., Rob C., Tom, Alicia, Amber and Sue.
The Red team is gonna be a hoot to watch!
They should’ve made Osten sit in the corner
I have some of it on tape
Was it just me, or was there something odd about Rupert’s mouth/teeth? It looked like he had a couple of them knocked out or something.
