Survivor: Guess who's gone? :)

 Like the man said: fair game. Which was one of the “immature” points I was making earlier. Heh, heh.

However, I also need to state that Czarcasm did politely request (by email) that I reveal as little as possible in the titles of TV show threads, and I am going to honor that request, especially NOW THAT I KNOW ABOUT THAT ONE-WEEK BROADCAST DELAY WHICH I HAD NO IDEA EXISTED!!!

Even though I have met some pretty rude Aussies in this thread, I certainly don’t want to step on their toes (well, most of them). The last thing I want is these people mad at me. Michael Skupin and his big knife would feel right at home.

:slight_smile:mouthbreather: you’re wrong, I love moderators. They keep us civilized.

:)Thank you too, Studoggie.

**Redboss{/B]: take a hike. (He’s still badmouthing me over in MPSIMS.)

I’m going to start a new thread (with the SPOILER warning) titled “Colby’s conduct.” For me, Jerri’s expulsion was only one of two shocks I got during Episode 9. The other was when Colby knocked Jerri flat on her back. I want to see how many others feel the same way.

This is still going?

I too am in favour of shutting it down ftr. It doesn’t appear anyone is willing to stay on topic (and half of the posters haven’t seen the episode so they can’t  ).

But seriously, I do want to say a few more things.

It appears this has all come about for two reasons.

  1. tclouie putting spoiler info in the thread title

  2. me referring to him as a newbie
Second point first. tclouie, as I said before I glanced at your post count (not the registration date) and I apologised for such. One of your other posts refers to name-calling, but I do want to make the point that the term (which to my knowledge and my way of thinking carries no negatie connotation) was not intended in any condescending or negative way. I was not calling you a name. I was disappointed in the fact being in a thread title, I came into register my displeasure and saw 142 posts. Immediately softened and changed my attitude. My intent - regardless of how it came about - was to kindly point out a generally-recognised convention of being considerate. Emphasis on kindly. I meant no disresepct - was just trying to put across a point to ensure you didn’t make the same mistake again.

First point. Yes it’s an accepted practice to not spoil anything here. One of the reasons I can safely trawl throught he SDMB is because this politeness is observed very, very weel here. It is not, however, a rule as such - just a courtesy extended to your fellow dopers. I’d urge anyone reading this to folow the convention. Czarcasm’s comments about shows were prety fair - no-one expects a poster to know the schedule of every country, and indeed the BODY TEXT of the threads is fair game. The title however should remain off limits out of respect though.

It’s not something you can apply strict rules to. What’s the rule of thumb for a movie? Oh, it’s been playing three weeks now - if you haven’t seen it yet you mustn’t really want to (WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT DARTH WAS LUKE’S DAD?) so I can put that in the title.
No, we can’t spell it out in detail and define for every eventuality. Instead we’re all individually expected to extend courtesy and common sense to EVERYONE, not just those in the United States. And I urge you all to continue to do so.

dpr…I really think you’re a swell guy now.

You apologized to me.

I apologized to you.

Czarcasm slapped down the nasty people.

I promised not to spoil anything for Aussies anymore.

Nuff said. See you inthe next thread.

Awww, there go my odds and my paycheck this week. Nice goin. I thought you were gonna fly off the handle. [sub]But I’m glad you didn’t.[/sub]

Um. Hello.

I just opened the thread because I felt that I was very rude to tclouie the other day, and have been wanting to apologise. I’ve been real busy at work and unable to post, but had noticed that the title of the thread was changed, and I thought it was nice of tc to fix that, and I really regretted that I had been so unpleasant to him.

Now I’m in a state of shock.

What a thread!

Okay Bill, pick yourself up and get organised.

1 I’m sorry tclouie. I behaved badly, and I should not have.

2 I’m deeply depressed at being told

This seems in some ways to be very true, and in other ways totally wrong. It’s a paragraph that will reverberate in my head for months, I know. I just hope that many on these boards, feel like a citizen of the world, not just of the most powerful part of the world. I mean, it’s actually more fun out here!

3 What an extrordinary television program this Survivor is, that it can evoke such strong feelings in those who watch. I think the team that put it together are brilliant. As a social psychologist by training, I see it as fiendishly clever, rich and amusing.

So. And now, by posting, I’ve bumped this thread, just so everybody can read my Big Deal opinions which really don’t matter anyway. Oh dear.

Yours, dazed and sad,
Redboss

It gets worse!!!

I really was a bit dazed you guys. So I didn’t notice that it was a two page thread, and I POSTED AT THE END OF THE FIRST PAGE! [insert very shocked embarrassed stupid smiley] So I thought the thread died a few days ago, and I was just wandering around in the dust left behind.

The second page helped me settle down. What I said still goes, with two further points,

tclouie - honestly mate, I didn’t keep posting about you - just two bursts of venom on the one day, no more. And I do regret it.

and what I never got to say in unison with poor, battered tc:

JERRI’S GONE!!!

Hooray - that bitch got it and got it in spades!. Good news on its own, doubly good to have my opinion shared by so many other intelligent members of the SDMB!

She’s gone! Hahaha! serve you right you mean, manipulating (“I think it was brown, looked like beef jerky…”), selfish, stuck-up, screaming-and-jumping-up-and-down-on-the-spot at the slightest pleasant event, irritating bongo player, cowboy hat wearer, bartender who kept getting labelled aspiring actress, devious, unpleasant, nine-lived, bitch.

I’ll get back to the actual subject of the thread.

I knew that Jerri was toast. I’m surprised she lasted as long as she did. The only reason she didn’t go last week was because ex-Ogakor wanted to protect their advantage (a good move). Tribal lines had been unusually strong since Michael’s freak accident, and knocking out the enemy tribe was just common sense. But after that, there was absolutely no way anyone was going to put up with Jerri. She was irritating as hell…even I couldn’t stand her, and the rest of Ogakor had to put up with her all the time! Brr.

But more than that, she was a constant schemer…as was Richard Hatch in the previous show. We all know how that tunred out, right? Other members get picked off, Sue and Rudy fail to win immunity even once when it counts and get bounced, and Kelly tragically underestimates her own appeal at the end. Remember, the one big operative in Survivor 2 is kill Richard. (I have to thing that’s part of the reason Jeff was voted off as well.)

Irritation is vanquished. Good strategy is victorious. Now Keith had better watch out…

Apology accepted.

Now that Jerri’s gone, she wants to pose naked for Playboy (you have to page down a bit to get to the story).

Yeesh!

Oh, and she says she never had sex with Colby because they didn’t want to get caught by the cameras, but they planned to get together afterwards. Now, though, she says he was too mean to her.

David B, the New York Post article you linked to above described Jerri as “sexy.” Another example of the 'Post’s reckless disregard for the truth.

And the next paragraph after the Jerri story reveals that Tara Reid has postponed her wedding to Carson Daly. Damn it, now I won’t be able to sleep tonight…
