Survivor March 16th (open spoilers!)

I’m totally glad that Rob chose to boot Matt. Do you imagine for one second Andrea could have defeated the troll?

It’s better to send the strong to RI early, anyway. Better to have Matt face 7 challenges than 1 or 2. And for Rob’s team, they’d be better off sending Andrea next so that at least one of them goes home.

I can’t figure out why the other tribe booted Krista instead of Stephanie. Neither one of them offer much, and Stephanie is far more annoying. I wish they would’ve done more to save themselves. It’s clear Sarita really doesn’t like David. If they went after him, there’s at least a chance Sarita and someone else flips

The sheer depth of the harem’s commitment to the Russell Principles amuses me. They sound just like feminine versions of him, all the way from “planting seeds” through “bunch of fools (who, incidentally, are in the process of whittling you three completely out) who don’t know how to play the game”. Delusional, all of them!

I think the plan was always to keep one in your alliance and get rid of one. The problem with this you run the risk of not getting rid of either unless you get rid of both - and I’m not sure Rob has figured that out. I guess we’ll see if he targets Andrea ahead of Philip (which I think would be his best move knowing that Matt is still around).

All I can figure is that Krista is significantly more annoying than what was shown. There seemed to be significant animosity towards her from multiple players.

And yes, complete delusion. I particularly enjoyed the “you didn’t come to me to try to save me so you’re obviously not playing the game”.

Further evidence of Zapatera not “playing the game” was to pick numbers to decide who went to view the duel at RI. Any solution that would allow Krista and Stephanie the mere chance of going together, and without the supervision/oversight of at least one person in the main alliance is not an adequate solution. Someone who had not yet gone, from the main alliance, should have said “I really want to go, and I haven’t gone yet.” Someone in the alliance says “cool with me” and there is nothing Krista and Stephanie can do, other than to vote themselves in…

Allowing these two to go solo was a huge mistake, and one that could hurt them, especially if the merge happens with Stephanie still in the game.

Nah, I think they really over-emphasized that. What’s the difference between telling Rob now that you’ll flip after the merge, or telling him after the merge?
And the odds of either of them getting to the merge are slim anyway; both of them, practically nil.

I, too, thought Stephanie would be the obvious choice to boot before Krista. Like others have said, I guess there’s a lot they didn’t show us about her personality.
I did chuckle quite a bit at all the “these people who are badly beating us at Survivor are terrible at Survivor” talk. Oh-kaaaay…

Rob’s plan is to keep everyone else thinking the idol hasn’t been found yet, so nobody suspects he has it. Presenting the vague, almost-useless first clue as the current one is a great way to do that.

Didn’t somebody say it would be better to keep Stephanie because she’d be easier to convince her to join the alliance? I remember hearing that and thinking, “Really? Well…”

As annoying as she appears, my bet is that she is probably easier to get along with than Krista.

I thought Stephanie was gonna go because I barely remember hearing Krista talk, even in this episode. Usually they give the silent person some screen time before they go away. Hey, maybe that means she’ll have a run at RI and come back in the game!

Zapateria and Omelette = Worst Survivor Tribe Names Ever.

I don’t know…I’d put Bula Bula and Nobag up against those anytime.

“Nobag” (“Gabon” spelled stupid) definitely stands out in the dumb tribe name category for me.

Oh, certainly. I should have been specific: worst tribe names given by Survivor producers. Nobag, a Survivor contestant creation, certainly is up there, if not flat out winning, the overall worst.tribe.name.ever.

Bula Bula is just funny–but I don’t remember it. When was that?

Bula Bula is from Survivor Fiji. It would be even funnier said in a Ben Stein voice.

As for why Krista over Stephanie, it’s because the producers needed to drum up some fake conflict for an otherwise boring episode. This episode has no suspense over who would go, so they manufactured a lame “which Russell groupie goes” conflict and used editing as a blunt tool to misdirect the audience into thinking Stephanie so it would be a surprise when Krista is revealed as the target.

I know - that much is obvious. My question, which has been answered, was whether or not a second clue indicates the presence of a second HII.

Actually, she talked kind of a lot in this episode. I told my wife that it looks they are giving her air time and because of that, she’s going home.

If they ceased giving clues once the HII was discovered, it would be a clue that it’s been found. So they keep giving clues to keep it a secret, should the finder want to keep it secret, as well.
