I voted for James. Erik was dumb, to be sure, but compared to James, Erik’s blunder was carefully thought out but an unfortunate miscalculation. Not that it was that; I mean compared to James. James’ blunder was sheer oblivious stupidity.
JT’s move was actually a carefully thought out unfortunate miscalculation. Tyson’s move was stupid but at least I could sort of see some amount of reasoning behind it, even if it was simply a mirror of rockle’s irrational dislike of Parvati. But ther was at least thought behind it, y’know?
James never put any thought into his situation at all. Just blindly walked into the stupidest Survivor moment in history. I mean, seriously, you have two idols and three tribal councils where you’re allowed to play them, and you didn’t win immunity. Play a damn idol! Odds are you’re winning at least one of the next two challenges and thus guaranteed getting to the final four. So incredibly stupid.
I don’t know if the words unfortunate miscalculation for either Erik and JT tones down the fact that they both made RETARDED moves with immunities. Erik was with an earned immunity and JT with HII.
I gave Erik the dumber because it was guaranteed he’d be there one more week, in which even if he wasn’t in the alliance he can win another immunity.
I’ll reiterate something I said before in one of the Survivor threads of the past.
You don’t use/give Immunity (earned or found HII) as leverage to get into a new alliance or get someone into your alliance. You use it as leverage to save your existing alliance. In no way should immunity be played to garner favour with your enemy, it’s supposed to save the asses of your alliance which in turn means you, the immunity holder.
James’ move was dumb, but I think the act of giving is worse than the non-action of holding and not using.
Hopefully Sandra with her HII won’t fall into some dumb trap and be part of Survivor’s dumbest Hall of Shame.
JT’s move wasn’t retarded at all. (Erik’s was, but he was young and dumb.) JT made a rational, calculated move. It just didn’t pan out. That’s pretty much the opposite of retarded. I know you have an irrational dislike of JT, but you have no case for his move being anything but a calculated misfire.
James was guaranteed two more weeks, so if this is your logic then James was dumber by definition. James can’t even say his good sense was charmed out of him by clever girls; James just didn’t use any sense at all.
I don’t think anyone is going to maneuver against Russell from now on. It’s in all the Villains’ interest to have him at the final three. And none of the Villains can win with either of the two Heroes at the final council. So I see the Villains voting off Rupert and Colby next. Neither Russell, Sandra, nor Parvati will be doing any crazy maneuvering because they all know they can’t win against the Heroes.
So it was smart for Russell to go for Danielle now. If he left himself with all the Villains then Parvati, Sandra and Danielle could have voted him off. Smart in the sense that it will get him to the final. There is no way he can win now. I don’t see anyone in the jury or the future jury voting for him.
I don’t have an irrational dislike for JT, I liked him during his season and his southern boy act, but his newfound bravado of trying to play a strategic game is what turned me off so fast. He has no clue how to play a strategic game. Last time he played his alliance mate was the brains. You don’t toy around with HII or immunities as some kind of alliance maker, it’s an alliance saver. What JT doesn’t understand is he thinks he was smart but in actuality he was dumb, which makes him even more stupid. James at least knows that he was a retard for not playing it. JT still probably thinks he would it again and his reason that he needs to make big moves to win big.
Wasn’t James blindsided in his vote, wasn’t he part of the majority alliance and they just threw him under the bus because he had the two HII’s?
As far as Parvarti goes–we hate her in this house. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate her. Curiously, I was more vocal of my disdain for her initially; now hubby is the one saying “I won’t fucking watch the finale unless I know she won’t win it.” I’ve gained a little more respect for her the last few episodes, but hubby is bringing the “SHE SUCKS!” Why do we find her annoying as hell? To quote my hubby: “She’s cute, and she knows it, and that’s all she’s got in life.” Oh, I know, she’s savvy and smart too, not that it matters. She’s only savvy and smart to serve her own spoiled needs. She is like my miniature horse: She’s adorable, and people fawn all over her because of it–and she uses it to milk and manipulate every possible selfish gain she can grasp.
if you think his move was the stupidest, wouldn’t Colby picking Tina as a final two person be even more dumb? He coulda won a million had he not chosen her as his competition. His reference to be the best you need to beat the best should be chalked up as dumb or dumber too.
True, and great point, but that can also backfire in that they’re so angry with him that they’ll be blinded strategically and take him out even if it’s a bad move.
I wonder where Jerri will stand next week, being the swing vote but still definitely empathizing with Sandra/Parvati over Russell. If the Russell/Colby/Rupert alliance shown in the previews comes to fruition, I can see Jerri/Sandra/Parvati becoming a tough threesome to counter it- Russell may have just created the creature that will destroy him (apologies for the metaphor).
Russell just lost the game, but who benefits? Wherever Sandra falls probably has the advantage with the secret idol.
Which begs the question- why has everyone been revealing their idols this season? Sandra is in a huge power position and no one even knows about it. She’s going to slide through to the final 3 or final 4, and if she does use it, she’ll probably be giving it to someone else.
Russell has really been the only one purposefully revealing idols, which is all part of his weird gameplan. (sidenote: I think my favorite Russell moment last season was when he revealed his idol to that one guy, realized that was a mistake, and decided he had to be the next target for his own mistake). JT revealed his because he basically got caught. Parvati only revealed hers to Danielle, which worked out perfectly for her. Didn’t Tom keep his to himself?
I don’t think Tom ever revealed his idol, but I think everyone knew he had it.
The majority alliance (Amanda, Rupert, Candice, Cerie, James, J.T.) was going to split the votes 3-3 for Colby and Tom, and Colby/Tom voted for Cerie. Tom played is idol and J.T. switched his vote from Tom to Cerie and Cerie went home.
What a load of horseshit. Probst is a good host, but the way he plays favorites has grown tiring.
Russell gave Rupert another day in the game on a silver platter. Why would he turn that down? And he is easily staying within his moral code because he is helping the disloyal people of the game exit it quicker. Russell acting crazy is both good for Rupert to not get voted and it helps him in the Final 3 where he can stand up and tell the other Heroes (and Coach and Courtney, who believe themselves to be Heroes) that he played with Honor ™, vote for me.
It’s only in tortured Probst-World logic (where Savage is god) that this kind of move would be seen as a failing.
I think Russells only chance at winning is to take Jeri with him. She’ll be zombified at the final jury and I can’t imagine her making any sort of impassioned speech about why she should win.
Rupert almost seems like 2 people to me. Sometimes he’s very likeable, and other times he’s really annoying. It’s like he has 2 personalities, depending on the circumstances.
It’s a final 3 though. Are there any two people left Russell could beat? Jerri and Colby? Colby and Rupert? I dunno. I think he’d need something weird, like a 3-2-2 vote in the latter to win. (That’d be pretty crazy - to win with a plurality, not majority of jury votes)
I think if any hero makes it to the final, they’ll win so Colby and Rupert are out. I don’t think he could win against Sandra or Parvati. Most people hate him so much they’d rather give the money to Probst than let Russell have it. I think he’s screwed. If he hadn’t gotten rid of Candice, I think he could have won against her and Jeri.
If the rest of them are smart, they’ll keep him around till the end.
Ohmigawd. I just read some transcribed bits from the online extras, and I am horrified even more than I was by the lunacy that is Russhole=
[spoiler] from Danielle’s (or “Daniellie”, according to Russhole) final words:
“Russell is insane. I’ve never seen anyone so psychotic. You feel like you’re in prison when you’re around him, especially when you’re aligned with him. He stares at you all day long. He watches every single person, who they talk to, and then after they talk to them, he goes up to them and asks them what they talk about. He goes up to you and asks you what you talked about, just to make sure the stories match up. He does this non-stop. He doesn’t do any work around camp. He’s horrible, he doesn’t do anything in the challenges. He just sits there and stares at people to make sure they’re not trying to get him off or anyone in his alliance. Now he’s testing the people in his alliance. This is the second season in a row he’s playing and he wants it bad, he wants it really bad. He’ll do whatever he has to to get there. That might bite him in the ass at the end because I don’t know how many people are gonna vote for him.”
Russell is completely delusional - here’s indisputable proof:
“Colby is the main guy in the love triangle with Danielle and Jerri. That’s a solid 3. Any time you have a solid 3 in this game, you gotta split it up immediately. When you see it coming you get rid of it before it hits you in the head. I believe he can also start winning individual immunity idols. He’s also not part of my alliance. But the main reason I wanna get rid of Colby is because of the love triangle I see going on. He’s flirting with Danielle, he’s flirting with Jerri. They’re starting to want to take him in. They’re starting to want to save him. They want to save Colby so they can have his vote. I don’t know what they plan on doing outside this game, but I think it’s illegal to be married to more than one woman. But that seems to be the route they’re trying to take. Maybe they can go to Utah or something. I think it’s legal there.”
(cut)
“I don’t know what it is about him. Is it his hat? I’ve got a hat. Is it he’s good looking? I thought I was good looking. All of a sudden he’s getting all the love out here. Where’s my love? They should fall in love with me because I’m so damn good at this game and I could bring 'em to the end. I don’t understand why people don’t attach to me. Parvati’s smart enough to attach to me. She knows how good I am. She knows I can take her all the way. I’ve been dragging her through the mud this entire time. I’m gonna take her to the final 3. Attach yourself to somebody who knows how to play the game, so they can protect you. Don’t attach yourself to someone who doesn’t even want to play the game, like Colby. He doesn’t even play the game. What’s he gonna do for you? Keep you warm at night. That’s all he can do for you. And I can do that for you.”
My coworkers and I are all hoping for a repeat of the pathetic whimpering Russhole that can’t believe he didn’t win at the finale. If this is any indication of how he’s playing, our wishes may come true.
