She has a real estate business in Madison, WI, and all kinds of endorsements (including with Disney) and a motivational speaking business. Well, did. I played baseball with her husband at UW and knew her pretty well.

Unless there’s some huge debts that are not in the article, seems like she was doing it purely for the thrill of it.
ETA: If she was only doing it in Vegas, isn’t it legal there? If so then it’s nobody’s business but her and her husband. If it’s cool with them, more power to them.
Further reading shows it’s actually illegal in Vegas. So, not the smartest way to go about it.

I’m having trouble getting my brain around this. Married, with a kid, Madison WI/Las Vegas, claims to have no money problems, famous but not an actress. It’s one thing to be promiscuous for kicks, it’s another thing to work as a prostitute. Just when you think you’ve heard it all . . .

It’s not top of the line but it’s not cheap.
It’s a legal thing in Vegas, I believe, so I don’t mean to compare it to crime, but it’s interesting, I think, to compare this sort of thing with rich celebrities who shoplift. Sometimes people do naughty things just because… well, because they seem compelled to.
It’s legal in a lot of Nevada but not in the county that includes Las Vegas. I’ve had cab drivers in Vegas offer to take me to one of the legal brothels and it would have taken an hour to get there.
Yes, I think you are right. It’s not technically legal in Las Vegas even though they have the highest number per capita prostitutes in the country. The Bunny Ranch and the like are outside Las Vegas.

He’s right. I live in Las Vegas. Prostitution is illegal here Clark County and in Washoe County and a handful of cities in other counties. It’s legal elsewhere in the state.

I’m not seeing a problem with any of this.* She says her husband knew about it. And although he disapproved, he stuck around (perhaps because he liked banging a famous former Olympian enough that sharing her was preferable to losing her entirely). As long as she wasn’t having unprotected sex with strangers and exposing her main slice to diseases without his knowledge, what’s the problem?
She’s got a seven year old daughter (who she still has pictures of on her Twitter page) who has to live with this. If it was just her and her husband, then it would be different.
What does mom’s sexuality have to do with her daughter? How is it any different than being the kid of a gay couple, or poly couple? meh
Seriously? Maybe you don’t know who Suzy Favor-Hamilton is, but everyone in Madison does, especially those with kids around seven years old. Not to mention that being a prostitute is a lot different from being gay.
The similarity being: the problem is with the judgmental assholes, not the choices or actions of the couple in question.
The problem is the selfish actions of parents and their refusal to consider how their actions would affect their seven year old daughter. And she was quite the Mom; who was raising her daughter when she was off in Vegas?
The child’s father. Is that ok with you? She was in Vegas for legitimate business reasons and did the other stuff on the side.
