picunurse, I’m assuming Jason is picucutegayfriend? Or shall I add another?

No one has let me know about transportation issues, so we’ll leave that on the table for now. 'Member folks, it’s a bit of a drive from the Underground to the Chinook.

Now then. There’s a 15 person minimum for a private Underground Tour, so it looks like we may have to join the unwashed masses in a regular tour. swampy plans on getting to the hotel between 1-2; so we’ll say 2 just to be on the safe side. As such, that gives us a choice for:

  1. Beers at 3, tour at 4, Dinner around 6:00
  2. Tour at 3, dinner around 5:00, potential for drinks afterward
  3. Nothing at three (let swampbear get settled), tour at 4, dinner around 6:00

I’ve got a call in to the Underground people to find out how much it would cost if we can get 15 people together. Bumbazine, IIRC, the tour lasts around 1.5 hours, but I could be mistaken. I’ll ask when they call me back.

Sorry to see you miss out, lizardling, but at the same time, graduations and vacations are just as important. So’s family. Have a good time!

Two weeks and counting. I was just wondering if we’ve established a time for dinner yet? Aguecheek, are you going to make the reservations?

Just checking in. I’m hoping we can do a little more plan firming up this week so everybody’ll know. I am gettin’ all excited. In just under two weeks I get to meet Dopers from a whole other part of the country! WOOHOO!!!

I’m hoping the plans can be firmed up too! The hubby and I are both very interested in the Underground Tour and dinner. He asked me about it tonight.

We’re looking forward to this!

Aguecheek, yes, Jason is the friend of which I spoke, but add another as well. My recluse friend who lives just outside Lilliwaup, has consented to come to the big city to socalize. Its ok, he usually wears clothes and he doesn’t bite… people.

What? We gotta wear clothes? Dang! I might need to rethink this…

It’s okay Swampy, we northwesterners always wear clothes when folk visit from the lesser colonies, so that they don’t get all freaked out by all the fur and webbed feet an’ all. Really, it’s better this way. Trust me.

Well, ok, but do I have to keep em on all night?

Firmed up?!? What’s to firm? People!

Actually, I thought I’d followed up on my last post. It doesn’t look like we’ll have enough for a private tour for the Underground, so we’ll have to join the unwashed masses. The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours. You can’t make reservations, so we’ll have to buy tickets as we get there.

And since no one chose an option for how we get together (and at what time), I’m making an executive decision: Beers at 3:00, Tour at 4:00, Dinner at 6:00. Meet for beers on Pioneer Square (I’ll send around my cell phone number via e/mail to everyone with an exacter location). Don’t feel obliged to come for beers, but do feel obliged to get tickets relatively early, as those puppies can go fast!

See my list of attendees a couple of posts above this. picunurse, I’ll add picurecluse to the dinner list. For the “maybe both’s” up there (ie: dinner yes, Underground, maybe), since we can’t make reservations, don’t worry about signing up now, but make sure to call me on the day so we don’t end up leaving you behind.

So far, we’ve got about 7 showing up for underground. swampy’ll have a car; can we assume the Tater household or the Denbazine’s will be able to help with rides up to the restaurant after? I’m not sure if I’ll have my car, and I know Saltire, being the ultimate in city-livers, does not find one necessary.

Sorry about not updating - we’re in the middle of gearing up for an annual meeting in D.C., a contract renegotiation, and an online university course, but that’ll all be history by the 14th.

I might be late for dinner – I have an event that day that starts at 7:00, and I might need to be there until it gets going (I’m only about 5 minutes away from Chinook’s). What name will we be under at the restaurant, so’s I can find youall?

Make sure to wear bright orange when walking near foliage!

We have a four seater (mazda 636) so can haul 2 other people. It would be good if one of those people was familiar with Seattle, however.

We drive a Ford Explorer, so can squeeze three adults in the backseat.

Just realized I missed this. I can make reservations. So: I am therefore putting all on-the-fencers on notice now. I will be making reservations for Saturday, 14 May at 6:30 pm. This will be done Friday (6 May) morning. If you haven’t committed to a yes or no, you won’t be getting a seat.

Bumbazine, Taters, that’d be awful swell if you could help with the transport. What with swampy’s car, we should be covered now.

As long as I got somebody who knows where we’re going with me, I’m good with the car. I’m guessing I’ll have a medium sized four door which means it can seat three others besides me. I had conference calls today with the places I’m going to be working during that week. Guess that makes this all real for me now.

Sunday I think I’m going to explore the Space Needle. I have a five year old great nephew who has informed me he wants me to send him a portcard with a picture of the Space Needle on it from Seattle. So, natch, ol’ Great Uncle Swampy has to do that now. Besides, it sounds real touristy like, so it’d be a shame not to do the Space Needle.

Swampy,

Your hotel isn’t too far from the Space Needle. Practically, a hop, skip and a jump; so findining it will be very easy.

And as luck would have it, hopping, skipping and jumping are three of my favorite things to do! This trip just keeps on gettin’ better.

Okay, I’m in for both the tour and dinner.

I read this twice, and didn’t see exactly where we are meeting, or where we are having dinner. I saw Chinook mentioned, but is that for beers, or for dinner? If no decision has been made for dinner, I’d like to suggest the Spaghetti Factory. It has wonderful atmosphere, (Tiffany lamps and antiques and memorabilia and so forth) and they have other stuff to eat besides spaghetti. When I was there last, I had a wonderful chicken dish with spaghetti on the side. Plus, you get your whole dinner including dessert for $9.95. (Unless you want to buy drinks other than pop or tea/coffee, or a special dessert) We went there for my niece’s birthday a few months ago, and I was suitably impressed. Of course, this is just a suggestion.

I think JohnnyLA will be coming with me, but we haven’t absolutely postively confirmed…he may end up with a video gig that day, and although he’d like to come, he’s also trying to break into the biz and can’t turn down any late minute jobs. So it might be just me.

So…details, darlings. Chinook for beers and then the tour? Or somewhere else for beers and Chinook for dinner?

OK, I’ve decided I’ll tell all those people at KCTS that I can only help out until 3. That way, I can get down to Doc Maynard’s in time for the tour.

I’m assuming I’ll be seeing Aguecheek on Monday (right, Cheeky, old bean?), so I’ll give him money to buy my ticket so my lateness won’t make me miss the tour.

If there isn’t quite enough transportation room, or if anyone just doesn’t want to drive, there are a few buses that depart from Pioneer Square right in front of Doc Maynard’s that get you within 5 or 6 blocks of Chinooks.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

My understanding is that we’re eating dinner at Chinooks because Swampy wants typical Northwest food, I think.

However, I’m not quite sure where Chinooks is located. Is that the restaurant on Salmon Bay? I don’t get up to Seattle too often. I was there on the 24th of April for the U2 concert, but that was first time I’d been further than Safeco in probably 15 years.

Scotticher: Plan is to meet for beers at 3:00 at Pioneer Square, buy tickets for tour. Tour at 4:00 and dinner at 6:00. Aguecheek will be contacting us w/further details for exactly where we’re meeting up in Pioneer Square, right Aguecheek?

**Mr. Taters ** and I are really looking forward to meeting everyone. Can you believe my husband was born and raised here in the Northwest and has never gone on the Underground Tour? I went a few times when I was a kid; it was fun.
