I got a gift fruit basket once and it contained some imported candies-one was a box of M&M-like chocolate candies-from a Swedish maker (“peps”?). They were good-less sweet than M&Ms, and slightly smaller. Anybody know where you can buy these?
Sweden?
Are these similar to what you are looking for? This site has lots of Swedish candies:
Do you have any more information about the candy? It’s not common but I think I have seen something like it some time.
Swede here. Offhand, I can’t think of any Swedish candy that’s closer to M&Ms than Non Stop (that Tabithina linked to), and they’re not really that close (no peanuts, for starters). Can you describe them in more detail? Colour, size, ingredients?
Thanks-they look like US M&Ms, but in pastel colors and slightly smaller. the big thing for me, was that they were a lot less sweet than M&Ms-which i liked. I think they were called “Peps” or "pops’-or something similar.
The candy I was remembering was probably this but it doesn’t seem to fit your description. These are round and have a mint taste.
In the UK we have “Poppets”, which are little chocolate balls containing mint fondant, toffee, peanuts, etc. Could it be a case of mistaken eurodentity?
I know it can’t be these, but the description sounds similar enough that I’m wondering if they may be a helpful visual aid.
They look like MnM’s, a bit smaller, the colors are similar but not so bright, and they don’t have any added sugar (i.e., only whatever is part of the cocoa). The latest version is with peanuts; Lacasitos used to be one of the most popular candies in Spain but MnM’s have recently started selling here and of course it’s kind of a head-on competition.
