!!!NewsFlash!!!

ANYone who has signed up for beta testing…ANYONE…previous to today, will be invited in the next couple of weeks to a stress-test weekend later this month.

So…next weekend maybe? can’t imagine they want to deal with folk over Thanksgiving…

Anyway, chance to get together and see how this works?

ETA Star Wars: The Old Republic | News Articles

Woot! I just got my invite to participate in “an upcoming weekend test”! I can’t access the site from work, so I only know what’s in the email notice which is light on details. Yay!

Me too! There is surprisingly little info in that email though. Hopefully another will come with some details.

Can’t wait! /spaz emote

So I finally got in to verify my beta access for the weekend, and then saw it was a 20GB download. Fuck it. I mean, the logical part of my brain knows that’s not much at all, I can leave the download running all day and my ISP won’t even blink, but the old curmudgeon dial-up user in me scoffs at it.

They must be swamped; at first I got a “servers are busy” message and now I can get to swtor.com but there’s no log in option. I tried going to the forums to log in but got another error message.

you can get to the login by going to Log in to SWTOR.COM | Star Wars: The Old Republic - but even after you log in, most of the pages are still throwing errors about busy servers

Can’t even imagine what the stress test will be like if they’re having issues already. :stuck_out_tongue:

That being said, I expect I’ll spend the first whole day doing nothing but rolling characters to see which one I like the best, anyway.

Man, I wish there was no NDA, there’s some stuff I really want to say about the beta this weekend. Either way, I just got done with this beta, and I’m being reinvited for that one stress test.

I’m hoping that once the stress test commences they’ll lift the NDA, since it’ll be open to so many people. Then we can start talking about the game.

Can you say whether they’re negative or positive things?

Negative – not to say the game itself is bad, but the things I actually want to mention are negative.

I have plenty to say, too. But I doubt they end the NDA before the game goes live. There’s no incentive to; no need for more publicity. Their problem will be too many players on Day 1, not too few.

I got to play it and never agreed to an NDA, as it wasn’t my beta copy. Can I say anything? Or is that against the rules, I honestly don’t know.

The game is not perfect. But it’s awfully impressive.

Go on say it…

Hmm, whoever let you play with their Beta copy violated the NDA, but I guess it would be difficult for you to violate a contract you never agreed to.

I don’t want to get them in trouble. It’s only six weeks away.

Without giving anyone specifics, the game looked pretty slick for a “beta trial this weekend.” Of course I didn’t get to play it much so I only saw 2% of the content but it looked like it was ready to play right now. It looked and felt more technically ready than EverQuest was for years after EQ launched.

When I filled out the feedback form I had many, many criticisms, but

  1. I am picky, and
  2. I don’t think I had a lot of serious technical criticisms.

I immediately reserved a copy after playing the beta.

Thanksgiving weekend’s going to be full of…stars!!

And wars.

I’m going to be in the next beta. Whom can I hook up with for some SW gaming?

I don’t know if weekend testers use the same servers as the regular beta testers, but I’ll post the server and name of my current character (a trooper). I don’t remember off the top of my head because I simply pick a random server and name for beta. It’s low level, so I wouldn’t mind rerolling anyway.

I encourage everyone to post server and character names here so it’s easier to hook up. (Posting those bits of info does not violate the NDA as far as I can tell.)
