Happy Birthday**, picu. **I hope you’re having a most enjoyable day.
There has been improvement on the MiL front, and that is good news. Most of the aphasia seemed to be gone yesterday and she seemed stronger. The difference between yesterday and the day before was astounding and a huge relief. They even allowed her to sit in a chair to eat one of her meals (real food finally).
They are saying they’re going to move her from ICU, but as of yesterday, that hadn’t happened. They are also going to set up some therapy for her. She’ll still have to have the swallow test after discharge (about a month out from that), BUT she still doesn’t have any appetite, so that tells me she still isn’t digesting her food. I’m going to ask the doctor about that if he shows up while we’re there.
She also got in trouble yesterday. After she ate, I guess she thought the nurses forgot about her and she wanted to move back to her bed from the chair. She is supposed to call the nurses for help. She didn’t. She crawled back into bed on her own and when the nurses discovered that, she was read the riot act.
We visited her for a few hours yesterday and then came home. We’re going back again today. Mainly, it’s just so she has visitors and so that we can bring her some puzzle books and stuff.
I’ve gotten next to nothing done around the house this weekend. After we visit the MiL, we promised our son we’d go miniature golfing with him. So, again, nothing will be done around here.
I’m not looking at all forward to going to work on Monday and I know it’s going to be a 12 or more hour day.

Tis a fine sunday we are having albeit a bit warm but that is south Texas for ya. PICU have a grand birthday, hopefully the minions know how to worship appropriately. SWAMPY dressed to the nines? Didn’t happen unless there are pics. TATERS appendages crossed, tis a good sign when our elders start disobeying
Had a good night at work, our headliner was a group of geezers my age and it feels good to see them rock out, kinda gives me hope. Nice guys too bad they were from New Jersey.
Good afternoon! It’s hot and I’m exhausted but we’re done with our labors… for now… We got to the marina a bit after 7 and by 10, we’d gotten 2 coats of wax on both sides and I got started with the trim painting on one side while **FCD **put masking tape around the trim on the other side. Right around 12, we were done working. The masking tape was removed, the truck was loaded, trash was trashed, and we were on our way home by 12:15.
I shouldn’t have worn my wedding ring. My fingers swelled up a LOT and my band was cutting into my ring finger. It took a glop of lotion to ease it off. It still hurts a bit, but no damage as far as I can tell. We’ve showered, donned clean, non-sweaty clothes, and had lunch. No more hard work for us today. After I read my funnies, I’m collapsing on the recliner. I’s tahred!!
Lawn is mowed, a new phone line has been run to the kitchen, the upright rails to hold closet shelving are up in the master bedroom closet, and the car cleaned out where some pho spilled yesterday.
I finished the blue variegated scarf yesterday and now I’m starting on one in the same pattern with the leftover skein of Bernat Baby Coordinates left over from the blanket I made last year. I’ll probably have enough for two out of that skein–it’s huge. I do believe I’m making Christmas presents now.
Howdy Y’all! I deheathenated, had N.O.L. and then spiffed up da cave. It’s also tryin’ to be rainy here. AIUI we’re gettin’ feeder bands from Tropical Whatever out in the Gulf of Mexico. I wish it would pour all night. I likes to hear the sound of rain as I get sleepy bye.

And good news on the MIL, Taters. It makes me sad, though, that the nurses read her the riot act; I guess that’s probably why I’m not a nurse, though. Anyway, continued get well thoughts for MIL and hugs for your family.
Good thoughts for the folks on the gulf coast of FLA - they’re getting a whole lotta rain! Hope the hurricane Debbie stays in the gulf or sputters out.
Still very hot in ABQ, but at least the humidity is low. Wish we would get a bit of rain, but that would mean higher humidity. :eek: LOL, six of one, half dozen of the other, right? Oh yes, and I’m reading the third of the Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones) series; it is an enjoyable read though some of this stuff was already seen in season 2 - does he re-hash stuff a lot? I hope not too much but admit that it helps me to comprehend what all goes on. I hope to be ready for season 3!

I just made death chikin. It’s for dindin tomorrow. I have discovered that it’s good slowly warmed up the next day even. Thus all I needs do tomorrow is figure out some sort of vegetative matter. Mayhaps succotash cause I kinda want some.
I’m almost done another pair of fingerless gloves - these are shorter than the others I’ve made. It’d get boring if they were all the same.
Has anyone volunteered for tomorrow? Assuming I don’t oversleep, I’ll take it. I should be able to post before 6 Eastern time. Unless someone else has a major hankerin’ to start the week - my idea is very generic and totally not dependent upon being posted tomorrow. So, whaddaya say??

Her name is A. She is wicked smart. She has the most captivating eyes a sort of grey/blue but fade in brown about the iris when she is thinking. We met on my birthday but , except in passing, haven’t seen each other since. She also happens to be rather easy on the eyes.
What is wrong with the Post Office? I’m waiting for them to deliver a phone. Said phone is being shipped to me from Tucson, AZ. How does the PO route it? West.
My phone has been trucked from Tucson to a city near Los Angeles called Bell Gardens, roughly a 490 mile journey in the wrong direction. Now, they have to send it east, past Tucson and on to Charlotte.
In case anyone will miss me, I’m taking a break from the board for awhile. I would’ve posted a thread about it, but I didn’t want to be all drama queen-y about it. I’m feeling pretty jaded about this place at the moment. It isn’t you guys. the MMP is still my favorite place on the Dope. ( even though I haven’t been posting much in it.)
