Howdy Y’all! Well, I did leave early today. Thirty minutes early.
{{{Taters and MIL}}} The family, her and of course, you, are in my thoughts and prayers.
gotti maybe they were deliverin’ mail by the return addresses. “OOO! gotti and DH may have won a million bucks from PCH!” “OOO! The Smiths may have won the same thing!” “WOW! Everybody in this neighborhood gets a catalog from Dirty, Smutty Stuf!” Mail carriers must do things to entertain themselves.
Sammiches for dindin. It’s all I can manage after this week.
Being over 35, I still don’t really grasp the idea bethind it, bu they have a new headquarters in San Francisco. It’s the usual dot-com place with a presumably free cafeteria known as the birdfeeder, free snacks, nap rooms, etc. (Why do I think Dot-Com Bubble#2 is about ready to pop?) A sign in the stairwell:
In case of fire, exit building BEFORE tweeting about it.
I really really hate this job. However today is Friday and I have my laptop back and I have managed to cram into one day and a couple hours last night a weeks worth of work. And local desktop support managed to delete a whoooooole lotta e-mails during the migration. About 9 months worth of supplier/contracts/documentation/evidence for when the hatchet crew come through/backup for me to justify killing the incompetant people etc. He is hoping that once the back-up thingy has ran that he can pull it back from a previous backup. We shall see.
{{{Taters and fambly}}} - all my best thoughts headed your way!
We just got back - whew, what a day!! We pulled the boat into the well so it could be lifted out. Once it was tied off, we headed out on a couple of errands and when we got back, they were just lifting her out of the water. We hung around to watch them pressure wash the hull, plus we measured for replacement zincs (sacrificial hunks of metal that will corrode away instead of the propeller and drive shaft.) Then we came home to change into grubbies and pack some ice and lemonade and tools, then ran another couple of errands before returning to the marina, by which time, the boat was blocked and ready to be worked.
In just under 2 hours, **FCD **replaced 2 zincs, removed 2 others (we needed new screws to install the new ones) and installed a thru-hull fitting for the propane locker. I scrubbed the top part of the hull on the starboard side. Lemme tell you, the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers for outdoor chores did an amazing job de-crudding the boat. The starboard side is ready for wax, and the port side will be done tomorrow morning, then waxed. That leaves Sunday for painting the trim colors, and early next week, the yard crew will paint the bottom for us. We should be back in the water Weds or Thurs, depending on the weather.
Meanwhile, my neck and shoulders are killing me. Even tho the magic erasers made the cleaning easy, I still had to reach up and use some pressure overhead while standing on a ladder. I don’t like ladders - so I get tense on ladders. Hence the aches. We’ll see how a handful of tylenol works…
**gotti **- I don’t get the whole Twitter thing either. I’ve looked at some people’s tweets and I don’t understand the appeal. Then again, I’m an old geezer.
Who wants to deliver a couple of pizzas to my house? I’ll be your bestest friend!!! <insert sad puppydog eyes>
Well I have had a productive day, decided yesterday that the Motorcycle needed the new clutch and front brake levers put on so I…
Pull off clutch lever, disconnect cable, pull front sprocket cover and the whole clutch engagement mechanism falls on the ground(@%#@%#^%#^&*&^)
Ok calm down and get your shop manual, open to page 165 and the clutch mechanism in the book looks nothing like what I have in my hands (&^%#&%#^#@%^)
Deep breaths Deep breaths, I clean all the parts up and look at them for a while, dry fit them together and put the covers back on and pull the clutch lever SNAP(^%@#^@&^%)
Mosquitos are now eating me alive so I call it a night, sit down and look, on a whim, at the appendix for the 82 year model and lo and behold there is my part that fell on the ground
Short story of today, went to the auto parts store, got some grease put it all back together, did a little cable adjustment and went for a ride, smooth as silk
I am a happy dirty man, who will have a shower shortly
On a somber note goodbye UMKAY she wasn’t one of us but it is sad to see a doper go, but we all must go at some point.
Anywho happy Friday all, I hope you have an excellent weekend
I has new keyboard/mouse! Other than having to redo my hotkeys in a couple of games because the layout is slightly different than my old crappy keyboard, it is awesome!
Actually, they won’t - we’re too far in the boonies, apparently. So I just drove to Leonardtown myself. Bonus - I got some ice cream in the grocery next to PapaJohn’s, so I’ve got a treat for later. Plus I grabbed some sushi, just because. Sushi and PapaJohn’s - an all-American feast!
We had a major downpour earlier, and now it’s just showering. It’d sure be nice if it’d continue for a few hours. My thirsty lawn would appreciate it. So would I - that means I don’t have to keep running outside to move the sprinkler.
MOOOOOOM they don’t deliver to da cave either. Thus, we eat more Pizza Hut pizza than the others because it’s the closest one. I like to order online cause I place the order, wait ten minutes, drive to PH and it’s ready. It’s like magic!
swampy, I order online also, and my credit card is stored with my account, so even if my spousal unit or daughter does pick-up duty, the food is paid for.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 94, so another hawt and hyoomid day. In Summer. Imagine! However, pool time!!!
Tonight we are attendin’ a soiree in honor of a church member’s 89th birthday. He is a very talented artist and an all around fantastic person. We shall have cocktails at seven followed by a buffet supper. Sounds all growed up and sophisticated don’t it!
Wow some interestin’ overnight developments. Umkay dies and then doesn’t die and Jerry Sandusky is convicted. Two definite win/wins there.
Now I need more caffiene and should feed rumbly tummy. I’m actually maybe considerin’ headin’ back to bed for a bit. We shall see.
Good Mornin’ Y’all again! I did go back to bed for a little while. Now we’re up and all clean. It has been decided that we shall have not too shabby Chinese [del]hog trough[/del] buffet for N.O.L. and then pool time. We shall go and feast at eleven when the place opens.
Mawnin all and a happy Saturday it is,
I am pleased as punch about re-animated umkay, I have selected a hanging tree for notokay and will now move on with my day.
Caffinating, munching lounging in my PJ’s, have an actual Rock and Roll show tonight, I really enjoy being loud. There is something most pleasant about turning up a kick drum past where you hear it and into the realm of feeling it and on to the point it makes your eyeballs shake. Oh well, I am a 42 year old juvenile delinquent.:dubious:
