Like the McRib this is an occassional item for a limited time. Unlike the McRib, Why? They have the supplies there. It’s just a soft taco tortilla and beans. In fact, right now you can get, directly off the menu, the exact same thing with their liquid cheese instead of beans. Why is it not available all the time and how can I order one when it is not on the menu?
It creates more demand.
Nooooooooooooo! I cry foul.
(It’s a trap, they lure you in with these specials. They are a cruel and unfeeling giant corporation!)
The larger a fast food menu is, the harder it is to maintain consistent speed of service.
Then why do they offer it at all? It’s not like people are only going to order it during slow times.
Agree. Scarcity feeds demand.
FOMO. If you know it’s only going to be around for a few weeks, you might make a special trip to Taco Bell to get one while you can.
Double-decker taco? Big deal. I’m pissed that I missed the 2 week window at the end of 2022 when they briefly brought back the enchirito
Then why replace it with one with cheese instead of beans.
BUT you just gave me an idea. I’m going to try and order that double-dip monstrosity and ask them to substitute beans for the liquid cheese.
That i can’t say. I never worked at Taco Bell. I did work at Jack in the Box for 6 years, and in that time the menu got extremely bloated to the point where it was impossible to meet our SOS goals. When I left, we had four different kinds of burger patty, six different chicken patties, about a dozen different buns, over a dozen fried foods, and four kinds of specialty beverages aside from the soda fountain (to say nothing of the all-day breakfast menu). Nothing lasts for more than 10 minutes or so once it’s cooked, so it was almost impossible to do anything but cook to order.
The same goes for the 7 Layer Burrito, a faux Mexican masterpiece. Now all you can get is a Beefy 5 Layer Burrito with too much liquid cheese. Still good, though. C’mon guys, look at the old build sheet and make me one.
I used to have a matrix that showed all the Taco Bell ingredients across the top and menu items vertically. It had a check mark for each ingredient used for each item.
And now I’m pissed that I just heard about it now!
I’m still pissed off at General Mills for discontinuing Quisp. I’d have demoted the SOB to 2nd Lt. for that.
I would just try to order the Double Decker Taco first. They might not even bat an eye.
Your anger is misplaced; Quisp was (and still is) made by Quaker Oats – I know, as I worked there for several years.
Quisp was revived in the '90s, though it has remained in somewhat limited distribution since its revival, and it looks like, at this current time, it’s not easy to find through the usual channels.
As an experiment I went to a Taco Bell with a kiosk today and ordered the double layer taco with no chips, no liquid cheese, add beans.
SUCCESS!
Not saying I cried. Not saying I didn’t cry.
Now if we can just get Product 19 back.
Since we’re doing druthers .
I wish we had Taco Tico back.
I loved the #3 Sancharito plate.
This sounds like one of the things in this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evUWersr7pc.
Honestly, I can barely stomach Taco Bell ever since we got a Del Taco in town. They do everything about Mexican fast food better than Taco Bell, and they’re cheaper too. I can get two grilled chicken tacos for two bucks with a promo code on their app and it makes a nice light pre-work meal. They even have their own version of the 7-layer burrito that Taco Bell doesn’t carry anymore.
A word of warning to Taco Bell fans. Years ago, they used to make a halfway decent green sauce but discontinued it for no apparent reason. It was recently re-introduced but tastes absolutely nothing like the original. It is nothing short of disgusting now.
And yeah, Del Taco is far, far better than Taco Bell now, and has a splendid green sauce, although I’ve never been a fan of their ground beef seasoning.
