Take a look: a cool site MMP

UGH!!! To the home handyman down the block: Charge your battery! They appear to be trying to get the last inch out of a battery-powered cicular saw, and all I’m hearing is “Beerrroowwwrrrrr…owwwwrrrrr…owww…rrrrrrr…rrr”

Oh goody. The Dredlocked Trash Bin Masher is coming just in time to drown out the dying saw. His truck needs brakes… they didn’t squeal nearly this bad last week.

Just another quiet day in the neighborhood.

Dang gotti between saws goin’ all day and trash can mashers you neighborhood is just fraught with peril ain’t it!

We are so bad at work. Everytime somebody coughs or sneezes a little chorus of “oink! oink! oink!” arises. Keeps us entertained and that’s all that matters.

Dindin tonight shall be a feast! Roast beast and gravy, rice, lima beans and squishes. Oh and rolls even, got ‘em thawed out and risin’ right now. I halfway considered whippin’ up a peach cobbler but then decided against it. There’s ice cream in the freezer which will do nicely.

Ok, gotta get back to dindin prep.

Later Y’all!

I made Giada’s parmesan-crusted pork chops for dinner last night. They were TEH GOOD! And there was this really great au-jus-like substance in the bottom of the pan that was just amazing. We didn’t realize that until after we’d eaten so we just dipped our fingers in it and licked it up. It was good stuff.

I want some of Swampy’s din-din!

Doin’ a happy dance in my house tonight; the Metro Board decided NOT to cut the bus that I take to and from work every day!! It had been targeted for elimination. :frowning: WMATA (Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority) was short in their budget for the coming fiscal year (starts 7/1/09), so they proposed bus service cuts. Yeah, that’s right, the service used by the neediest. Thank Og that people stood up to the Board and testified at public hearings, etc. I could have still gotten to work (although I would have been stranded between 9 am and 4 pm); it would have taken more time and cost more money and left me with a hike to and from bus stops.

At any rate, we appear to be safe for now. Woo hoo!

Do I want stir-fry or sketti for dinner? Between Nelly’s vet visit, and my prescriptions, the economy has gotten $500 in stimulus today. Floor is vacuumed, bathroom cleaned, laundry(including my lucky socks) is drying. You know how some cats come running when they hear the can opener? Gordie comes running when he hears the martini shaker. That’s my good boy!

glad your bus is still running, Herbs.

swampy, our mascot kept sneezing at the last Coor Bars. No need to panic, though. : OINKCHOO! :

Go for stir-fry sketties. The best of both worlds!

I bet Gordie is thinkin’… “NO! Stirred not shaken!”

Ok, the mascot thing, that’s funny!

Glad your bus is still runnin’ Herbs. You’d think of all things a city would want its bus service to run bein’ as that’s how many folks get to and from their jobs.

Dindin was teh num! I done good! If it had been a spend the night night appreciation would have been shown. Alas, no spend the night night tonight.

Oh and I get to work Saturday. OY! From 6 am to 2:30 pm too, unless I can get out earlier. Just a bunch of catch up stuff that needs doin’. Oh well, they gotta pay me extra for it, so there’s that.

A student walked into the search room at Archivin’ Work this morning with a big ol’ lump of chaw in his mouth.

He was in an archiving class. And he was going to work on his archiving project. With a big ol’ lump of chaw in his mouth. Fortunately the Guy In Charge of Such Things told him to get rid of it. Which he did. Elsewhere, thank God.

I nearly died of gross.

Hai.

Home after a long and rainy commute back from the 'burbs, at the end of a long long day of yelling at our vendor about a long long list of issues. I am Teh Win… their resistance broke before my voice did.

Much teasing about piggie flu also occurred, as our main guy is flying back to Israel tomorrow. I suggested he get a rabbi to certify him as kosher to speed his progress through customs back home.

The company felt the need to send out a bulletin this afternoon reassuring us that there is a contingency plan in place should our beloved leaders fall prey to the OMGITSGOINGTOKILLUSALLFLU!!!11!!1 Sadly, this contingency plan does not appear to involve shooting all infected persons before they’re able to turn and start craving brains… which, let’s be honest, should be a key part of any contingency plan.

Right? :stuck_out_tongue:

I think I want Muppet to write all corporate contingency plans.

We have a plan for what we do in case of epidemic. It involves a whole lot of working from home, for those of us with laptops. Also, we got an e-mail with a letter from the director of the state’s Department of Health. It said everything we’ve all read.

I’m also among the suspicious coughing ones. Allergies are no fun.

I just read online that Egypt has started slaughtering pigs.

Personally, I chose sketti for dinner. With a dab of olive oil, grated asiago cheese and fresh tomatoes. Yum.

Yay for still having a bus, tarra! You’d think they could find something slightly less necessary to cut…

Off to clean the living room. Back later.

GT

Nooner, know anything about this?

I’m currently reading World War Z. With all this talk about the OMGUNKOSHERDEATHFLU, I’ve been planning a contingency plan based on shooting the infected between the eyes for a while now.

People are stupid.

That is all.

I had stir-fry, but if i made it with soba noodles instead of rice, it would have sorta been stir-fried sketti.

I need to decide what to cook for dinner. If it was just me here, I’d skip it entirely, but hubby is hungry. Both of the kids are at work.

Spaghetti and stir-fry seem to be popular tonight…

Seeing as how I didn’t have any meat defrosted, I currently have a Hungry Man in the oven for Mr. Taters, and a Lean Cuisine for me. Yeah, we’re eating high on the hog tonight, that’s for sure.

Blurf!

Went out for really nice Italian last night with hubby and my colleague from work and his girlfriend. Very nice, but I drank a bit too much - Campari and OJ, half a bottle of Soave Classico (Italian white wine), then a Kahlua on ice as a digestif. Today, I am being punished for my sins! Guuuurrrrrhhhhh!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. It looks like my body has decided that three-thirty am is get up time now. On the plus side, when I did wake up it was that wide awake feelin’ so I guess that’s good.

I’m guessin’ Taters and Mr. Taters are the latest victims of OHMYGAWDIT’STHEAPOCALYPSEENDOFCIVILIZATIONANDWE’REALLGONNADIEAGONIZINGDEATHS 111!!!111 flu since they ate high hog last night.

Ok, that’s all I got. Need more caffiene and some brekkies.

Later Y’all!

TGIF!!!

I was hoping against hope that TPTB would let us know early that we’ll be doing a short day today, but no such luck. I asked the team chief and he informed me that it’s a full 9-5 day. The thing is, our counterparts on this little training adventure are overseas, and with the time difference and all, they’ll be in and out of happy hour before our day is done. Honest-to-goodness, I have no idea what we’ll do to fill the afternoon. Oh well.

I have managed to go 4 days without killing the annoying bitch in the cube next to me. Apparently, the sun rises and sets on her, and what she wants is how it should be. For example, the team chief decided to run the live feed of a mandatory training session on the big screen so we could “attend” while we worked, and kill 2 birds with one boring stone. But Miss Thang got her knickers waaaaaaaay up in her crack because it was loud over the speakers and she couldn’t think!!! So the team chief turned the sound down.

Well, I wanted to hear it, so I brought up the feed on my computer, and the sound was really loud. Before I ever had a chance to find the volume icon, Bitchasaurus was leaping from her seat about to run to the chief. I told her what I was doing and she snarkily offered me her headphones. I told her to just knock it off, and I got my volume set so I could hear it but she couldn’t.

Then later that same day while her cube mate was trying to do his work, she started yammering on to him. I heard him say “Remember earlier when the video feed was on and you complained…?” I did suppress my giggles. But the woman is still a bitch. We hates her, we does, My Precioussssss.

Anyway, one more day next to this pain in the ass, and I can return to my upstairs office and leave her on the first floor.

Looks like we’re in for rainy ick for the next 4 days or so. I know we have work to do outside, but we’ve also got stuff to do inside and I really don’t feel like messing on the boat, so yay!

Last night was our last class in ceramics, apart from the clean-up/snack day on Tues. And I was spared the clay making because my partner had to take the test (she was in the beginner group) and between that and our reports, there wasn’t enough time. I’m so glad - I really hate making clay. It’s a messy process, and the cleanup afterwards is worse - especialy at this school because the morning classes leave everything in a wreck. So on Tues, I take some nuts as my contribution to snacking, and hope like crazy that I don’t have to clean the clay room.

My planter is done - the glaze didn’t come out the way I’d hoped, but it’s good enough to fill with dirt and flowers, which I will do this weekend. Or maybe herbs instend of flowers, but N.O.H. My piggy hadn’t been fired yet - I’m hoping it’ll at least get into a bisque firing by Tues. Otherwise, I’ll bring it home and finish it here.

Did I mention TGIF??

Oh, and unless someone really *really *wants to do it, I’ll take Monday, since I’ll be off work anyway.

Firday blurfs, y’all.
