Take Away Women's Rights to Vote?

Come on people! It’s a joke for goodness sakes! I can’t believe anyone would take this seriously.

I think I would support a bill taking away the right to vote for people who:
a)take things like this seriously or
b)have no sense of humor.

Sheeesh!

I think you’re quite underestimating the grand total of stupidity in the world. See here. And the newsgroups here and here.

I guess it’s not really that shocking that the authors of this website are unable to come up with a coherent political platform, but I find it surprising that this bunch seems to be against capital punishment. Usually, these really frothing-at-the-mouth “Christian nation” anti-semitic types are quite gung-ho for frying and/or stoning people. But wait, over here they seem to be making the usual Biblically-intoxicated-loon arguments for offing everyone from gays to witches.

Yet another web page providing support for the argument that we should be putting anti-psychotic medications in the water supply…

Yes, the FF’s thoughts are relevant TO THE INTERPRETATION OF THE ORIGINAL CONSTITUTION. Since the FF did NOT write the 19th amendment, their opinions of it are irrelevant.

Okay, I am really sorry here if somebody already said this, but I really laughed out loud onto the floor at the realization of the irony that they are using women on a petition to express the belief that women should not be allowed to vote. Sorta funny really.

Yes, this SHOULD be a Pit thread.
Mods, if you would…

However, what cracks me up is that they claim female voters=more government spending…umm…
Wasn’t Reagan the one who ran up the national debt with the whole outspend the Russians (who were already losing)…

Massive in scope, not in the amount of paper it takes to print it. It is certainly a much, much bigger sample than most anti-gun fanatics use for their outrageous claims.

Anyhow, if you want to debate it, take it to another thread, like I said earlier. I will not debate this matter any further in this thread.

I did indeed. Not his finest hour, eh?

Regardless, it makes my sig no less true.

I saw a show on Comedy Central once where they set up a booth to “end women’s suffrage”. “Haven’t they suffered enough?” they protested. Many people, women included, signed.

Demise:

No thanks. It takes alot more than this to get me into a gun-control debate. FTR, I’m a supporter of individual rights to own firearms. I just hate seeing bad statistical analyses being used to support positions on complicated issues, whether it’s to champion the 2nd amendment or to attack the 19th amendment. My point was that there’s more evidence to support the “king of shaky correlations” view of Lott than the exhaustive researcher he’s been portrayed as by pro-gun “fanatics”.

In order for women to lose their right to vote, they would need to vote for someone who would vote for the bill to lose their right to vote thereby sending the amendment on to the states who would again have to vote to ratify the repeal.

Not too likely.

Besides, as long as women vote, they have to shoulder their share of the blame.

People! you are making fools of yourselves! Read the site carefully! It’s a joke! Your level of comprehension is obviously so low you did not understand the site or my earlier post. OK, i will said it slowly:

It is a Joke.

Now louder: It is a joke

Again: It is a joke

In Spanish: es chiste

In German: Ist joken

Do you get it? It’s a joke!

I can’t believe you people are discussing this seriously.

If people vote based on this kind of evidence no wonder politicians conduct their campaigns the way they do. i guess you’ll all be voting for Gore in the hope he’ll stop this attempt to repeal the 19th.

Anyone not get it still? It’s a joke! Stop making fools of yourselves.

Just saying it is so (even loudly) doesn’t make it so. While I’d like to believe that you are right, I didn’t really find any evidence at this site to support your claim.

I really can’t believe you are being serious. How clueless can people be?!! Did you bother reading it? I can’t believe anyone can read that site and believe it is serious. You’d have to be a moron! It’s joke! The graphs are totally unrelated to the subject, the address is a generic no-name city “downtown”, the phone number area codes do not correspond to the real ones, the links are all to private pages that are part of the gag, and the general tone of it makes it clear that it is meant to be a joke. If you don’t get it your judgment is seriously impaired. I would be curious to know who all the people who fell for it plan to vote for.

Only a moron can take this seriously. I would like to think the people who are posting just did not bother to read the stuff (which is bad enough to shoot off your mouth without knowing what you are talking about) but anyone who reads the site thouroughly and still believes it is serious, is a MORON. Please READ it!

Sheesh, this reminds me of the site about the dihydrogen monoxide, the silent killer. Every once in a while someone falls for it. Another one you might think is serious: http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/2680/

Sailor, you shouldn’t brand as a joke people who fervently believe in their cause. Especially if their cause is as frightening as this one is. Someone could just as easily call the KKK a huge joke because their philosophies do not in any way jibe with real life. Same with the Aryan Nation. But those most assuredly are real threats, if small in most areas. Nobody is agreeing with them here. But we don’t want to write off as a joke something that could at least try to threaten us. Better prepared than unprepared.
BTW, sailor, why don’t you think people could be that stupid? The neo-Nazi groups have a following stupid enough to kill people. The Moonies have a cult following stupid enough to kill themselves. The Scientologists have a following stupid enough to bankrupt themselves and others. These people can quote from the Bible, which is good enough for too much of the population. Nobody has ever gone bankrupt underestimating human intelligence. P.T. Barnum got rich, as did Hearst, Ponzi, and Clinton. Why wouldn’t these people be just as duped?

Oh my goodness I can’t believe this!

Derleth, either you are mentally impaired or you are just not paying attention. It is a joke and I have told you that it is CLEARLY a joke. Check out the things I said in my previous post. What does the GDP have to do with anything? It’s a joke!

massive federal funding? Fathers’ Manifesto Square?? Downtown where? The Washington area code is 413? They must have changed it in the last 20 minutes because for me 202 still works.

Look, if you believe this is true, that is your privilege. It is my privilege to have the freedom to believe this is a joke so obvious that anyone who takes it seriously is a moron. I do not say it as an insult but as a diagnosis.

Derleth, Guinastasia, etc., who do you plan to vote for in the coming elections? I am curious.

Sailor, you are wrong about this. I don’t know why you refuse to believe me, I have told you often enough. Wrong wrong wrong. Wrong. WRONG! See? Repetition isn’t any more convincing from me than it is from you. Sailor, those people might not be sane, but they aren’t joking. There’s no evidence of it being a joke (please, disprove me if you can with evidence, not just repetition and translation of repetition). So the conclusion, not unprecedented, is that we’ve stumbled onto a stupid, demented little corner of the internet. This site might consist of five looney tune bigots lying to attract support. It wouldn’t be the first time.
Why do you want to know who I’m voting for? How is that relevant to the discussion at hand? Do you want to see if we’re following the two big jokers, Bush and Gore?

>> There’s no evidence of it being a joke (please, disprove me if you can with evidence

Well if the evidence I have presented already does not convince you I do not know what will. If you believe “The Fathers’ Manifesto received massive federal funding to fight radical feminism” and the area code of Washington DC is now (413), well, what can I say. My phone is still in the 202 area code but maybe aliens transported me and my house from DC to the new location of the 202 area code in West Dakota.

I can’t believe I am the ONLY one here who sees this is a joke. People! where are the sane people? Where have they gone? Does everybody in this board believe this is true?

BTW, I think it is very relevant to know who the people who believe this is serious will be voting for. It will give me a fair idea of what kind of people vote for what kind of candidate.

Derleth, I implore you, tell me you are joking. If it is true that the Clinton administration gave these guys “massive federal funding” I assume you would not want to vote for the democrats would you?

Sailor, they could be lying to attract support. You don’t know. Saying it’s too stupid to be believed is a very bad argument when dealing with humans. Look at Salem, Mass. in the 1600s, when quite a few people actually believed that a few teenage girls had secret knowledge of witchcraft. The town believed them enough to kill the people they named. Look at Germany, 1930s. People actually believed that various races were the source of all their problems and that the Aryan Race would rule the world if Germany just followed Hitler. Millions of people believed that. Hundreds of millions. Thousands still do today, in various corners of the globe. So much stupidity has been believed absolutely, nothing is too stupid to be believed.

While this particular website may or may not be a joke, various far-right groups do have repeal of the 19th Amendment as part of their “platform”. We are talking about the extreme loony fringe, though, the Christian Identity types - it’s hardly something to lose any sleep over.

The Executive Branch doesn’t control the purse. They can make a budget plan but it has be be approve by the House.
