Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Morning, mumpers! I have been out to the gym for bootcamp followed by a spin class, then stopped off at the supermarket on the way back for extra supplies of diet cola. Our usual supermarket didn’t have any of their own brand diet stuff when we went shopping this week, they only had the extremely cheap and extremely nasty “savers” version so we’ve been using some from the stash at home. Stash has now been replenished courtesy of today’s little side trip. I am officially knackered now, so I am off for a shower and then we’ll head into town to do the usual weekend errands and get some lunch from the Good Chinese Place.
flyboy sounds like you’re doing most of the office moving yourself! Good to know that you’ve got everything set up ready for when you need it thought.
bumba Yikes! Hope you are fully recovered from the mule-kicking!
Nearly finished my restorative cup of tea, time to head to the shower and then attempt to make myself presentable for the outside world.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and rainy, with a predicted high of 82 and rain for the day. Claudette will pay us a visit today. All kinds of red and green stuff comin’ our way. Thus, a good day to stay inside and dry and hone the old sloth skills. I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a ham ‘n cheese omelet so I foresee a breakin’ of the fast for sup.
flyboy sounds like the move is goin’ relatively smoothly.
MetalMouse have fun reffin’ (is too a word, I just made it up!) again today. Hope you;re not too sore.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
That is Monkey’s job. The drama-llama is one talkative, whiny little panther.
My last real job was in a SCIF and the computers on our desks were connected to classified networks. We were told in no uncertain terms when we moved (and we did often, because of far too many reorginizations) that we were not to connect our computers. Period. End of Discussion. And that suited me fine - I didn’t want to be crawling around on the floor. But it meant down-time with each move. In fact, one of the reasons I retired was the impending reorg - I just didn’t want to do it again! Office moves always seem to be major fiascoes!
Woke way too early - FCD was having a rather violent dream and he almost punched me in the head! Luckily, I sleep on a foam wedge, so he just punched that, but it still jarred me awake. At 4AM. Dammit.
I’m going to try to get him to install the last couple of bits of trim so I can finish painting downstairs. I keep forgetting because it’s just a small stretch of trim that’s unfinished instead of a broad swath of ugly wall or ceiling. Anyway, I’ll try to light a fire under him - it shouldn’t take him 10 or 15 minutes.
I texted my daughter before falling asleep and at the time Roxy had been sleeping for about 2 hours, so that was a good sign. Here’s hoping for good news this morning. But we’ve made contingency plans to delay our Baltimore adventure, just in case.
We’re promised hot today. I’ll water my veggie patch, but I don’t plan to do much else outside. Frankly, I just want to sleep, but after a certain hour, my body seems to think I should be up and about, so here I am. Stoopit body.
Happy Saturday anyway!
Morning all. For all the energy expended yesterday, only slept until 6am. Games today are at 11:30 and 1:15, and due to some expected rain the temperatures should be in the 70’s F today…much better, even if wetter.
swampy, I do have fun refereeing, working with the kids and stuff…just that I’m really not in that great a physical shape (need to start doing nellie’s walk and exercise regimen) and 4-5 hours upright and pounding the turf takes it’s toll. Sore this morning but I’m good for the games today.
OK, need to mix up some breakfast and be about the day. All y’all take care.
BBBoo, Do they live near Bird Hills? My sister and I have walked there several times. Great trails.
I’ll have to ask them. I sure heard lots of beautiful bird calls during our last FaceTime call when they were outside on their balcony.
Yes, they do live near Bird Hills! I just checked Google maps and their apt. overlooks green space that connects directly to Bird Hills. What a pretty name for a park! I’m so glad you told me about it. The bird sounds are quite dramatic, even over a Zoom call. My son and his dear sweetie are big runners and bicyclists and I know they spend a lot of time on those nature reserve trails.
Update: RoxStar slept almost 12 hours and no fever this morning. So maybe it was just a 24-hour thing? We shall see.
FCD is still abed. I hate to disturb him, but I want to shower and dress, so I’ll try to tippy-toe back there and start my day.
Mornin’ everyone.
I had visions of accomplishing many errands yesterday but only got a few things done. I was going to get a pedicure and then head to the mall to return those shoes, go to the nursery in search of THE laceleaf maple, and pick up some chicken and rice for Polar.
What happened was I treated myself to the Volcano pedicure and a manicure (the manicure was basic). I don’t do much beyond keep my nails cut short. The pedicure was awesome. After that, I stopped at Mud Bay and procured some doggy frosty treats/ice cream for Polar because I know he LURVES them and I haven’t been able to find any Frosty Paws anywhere. He snarfed up the banana/peanut butter flavor yesterday.
The hubby had managed to shower by the time I returned from the pedicure and stop at Mud Bay, and he wanted to go to WBU, so we did. I spent another stupid sum of money, but we enjoy the birds. The husband can’t manage a trip out of the house without stopping for lunch or food, so instead of just grabbing fast food, we went to Black Bear Diner. It’s a chain, but their food is decent. My husband hasn’t been out to eat in over a year and he was thrilled! Since he’s fully vaccinated, he feels much better about doing this kind of thing and was very happy that I had suggested eating there.
I couldn’t talk him into hitting the nursery with me after we ate, so we came home, but not without me stopping at Cold Stone Creamery and buying us both a frosty treat for later. It’s literally half a mile from my house, so there was chance of it melting quickly enough to become good.
Today, I’ll hit the nursery and search for a gift for the son-in-law. I may just buy him an unusual plant from the nursery since he likes to garden. I’ll need to pick up the fixings my contribution to the meal tomorrow, so I can pick up the stuff I need for Polar too.
The husband didn’t get to bed until way late, so I’ll give him another hour before I head upstairs to shower for my errands. I’d like to knock them out in the morning to beat most of the crowds. Everyone will be out and about today.
I hope Roxy is feeling better today, FCM.
Good morning!
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and a load of britches in the wash. Once KP is done, I’ll get sheveled and go to Lowes for a small spade to plant the elephant ears that Sis brought up. I asked for her to bring a shovel from Dad’s (he amassed a large number of shovels and other garden implements over the years) so’s I could take it back to him in a couple of weeks and he got rid of all but one of his.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
We are having one soggy-ass day over here in western Mitten State.
The side door is open, and Nik & Monk have contented themselves with loaf-ifying (you know, a catloaf?) in front of the screen door and staring out at the downpour while achieving Nirvana.
What’s the equation? “Two moves = One fire?”
Looks like it’s only going to get up to 93F today, which is wonderful! Having completed 1 whole week of vacation, I am now primed and ready to fulfill my destiny and sloth my way through the rest of it as well. Trying to decide whether or not to run some very non-essential errands today or tomorrow. What to do, what to do? So in the meantime I’ll play with Caelan (who is just about to sleep on my keyboard) and enjoy the scenery outside my window.
Stay cool and hydrated, Mumpers!
So I heaved Smalls. Then I got sent to Seconday Sort. Then I got to clean uo the 100 slide. So today was arm day, apparently.
Correction, Purrvana. ![]()
“Zen Buddhism is all fun and games till someone loses an ‘I’.”
We’ll put you on bob skates.
My Dad is like that. That’s why Mom used to make me wake him up from naptime when I was misbehaving. ![]()
FCD got the trim put up, but not without cutting his finger. No blood on the new flooring, tho, so that counts as a win!
And I took the shelves out to his shop, along with the remaining tools that belong out there. Plus I watered my veggies - 4 more green bean shoots are coming up - yay!
I masked the closet doors and got the first coat of chalkboard paint on the bottom halves (it’s a double-door opening.) I think it will take 2 more coats, but I know Roxy will love it, and I expect Toby will too, eventually. After it’s all dried, I’ll do the white trim and the rest of the doors. I should be able to get a second coat of black later today, but probably not a third. We shall see. But if I can get it done today, I can do white tomorrow. Otherwise, white will be Moanday. Like it matters - I’m retired!
And as it’s noon, I need to think about lunch. I’s hongree!!! Then maybe back to the hexagon lap robe from hell…
Mowed, groceried, and lunched. I forced the elderly riding mower to do likely its last mow.
I think I’ve told the tale of that mower before. Steering broke last time I used it, had to steer it into the garage by putting it in slow and walking beside it and shoving the front wheels. Fixed that. One tire won’t hold air, and the lug nuts are seized. Tried fix-a-flat this morning, The tire now has a goiter of foam coming out the side.
FCM Chalkboard paint sound like a really good idea for a play space.
When they were living with us, my daughter painted part of a door in their sitting room with the paint (I’m using the leftovers) and Roxy had fun with it. Now she’ll have lots more of it. I’ll post a pic when it’s done - probably not till tomorrow. I’m pretty sure I’ll need 2 more coats.
We breakfasted out today.
