Oh, please. At least a hamster or something.
It’s tundery-boomery outside, with a side order of lightning. And yet, through the downpour, I can hear … one helluva bird (the FCM of birds!) just singing away!

I especially loved this part!
Thanks to my good buddy Mel, I got almost 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep! Huzzah and all that! Plans for today, you ask?
Lessee - apart from the gutters getting cleaned this afternoon, I have to tend to cat hork. He got 3 spots on the carpet as well as one of the afghans that was on the sofa. So there will be at least one load of laundry, and I’ll haul out the carpet cleaner and give the traffic areas a once-over. That’s as far as I’ve thought - let’s all be surprised together, what say??
SIL had a flat yesterday. He’s also about due for an oil change, sooooooo, on Moanday afternoon, they’ll drive both cars up this way. He’ll leave his with our car guys, then leave his wife and spawn with us, and he’ll go home. Or maybe he’ll hang around and have supper with us. Daughter and RoxStar will spend the night on Moanday in anticipation of our early departure on Tuesday for the Aquarium. If we get to the parking garage before 8:45, we can park all day for $11, which is a huge bargain in downtown!
I guess before then, I should make sure the guest room is tidy enough for guests, even if it is just family. That room tends to accumulate miscellany…
For the moment, tho, it’s caffeination and surfing!
Happy Firday!!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out with a littlr rain (the map shows what looks like a stray shower) with a predicted high of 92 and cloudyish for the day. Whatever that is in the Gulf of Mexico will mean rain for two to three days startin’ tomorrow. I have some church janitor Junior Warden duties to attend to this mornin’. That shall be the extent of productivity for me today. I think we may swipe the General’s sup tonight.
nettie now why would I be in my formal undies to mow?
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alack, alas, and oh so much bother, I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Oh, the drudgery!
Happy Firday Y’all!
Morning all. It’s referee day, I’m the center ref at 10:30am and 2:30pm and one of the assistant refs at 5:00pm. Depending how I feel, might get another assistant job in there. Meanwhile it’s going to get to 91F and no chance of rain, so I expect to be a bit tired tonight.
Tournament features teams from around here and from Tennessee and the Carolinas, so I’ll get to work with referees from around the area. Looks like fun and hopefully the coaches will be nice (yeah, right).
Got some bills paid and my checking account balances, so all is well.
flyboy, I think I’d like your boss.
OK, need some nourishment before donning the referee gear. All y’all take care.
Not quite 6am and it’s 71F, which I consider a reasonable HIGH for the day. Not happy about this.
Congratulations, Boo, and Boo family!! I hope we get to see pictures at some point!
It is steamy as heck out today. Set to get to the 100s. I went waddling with a friend this morning at 6:30 for about an hour and was soaking wet with sweat by the time we got back, which means I’ll hopefully have more time for the pool tonight! And pool wine and more froggies singing. I’m going to cling to that thought all day long.
In the meantime, I’m going to snarf some more toast and coffee and get to work. An egg would be nice, but that would require me to wash something and I don’t want to.
It was 55° when I got up, but I think today is the end of our little cool snap. Heat and humidity is on the way. It’s been so nice having the house open!
The second load of laundry just went into the dryer - I have neither the inclination, the patience, nor enough clothespins to hang all of our unders and socks on the lines. But the first load is solar-drying - guess I’m half-environmental today. I also hauled a bunch of tools, etc, out to the shop for FCD. I got tired of the clamps and squares on the dining room table.
Carpet cleaning is done, too. Mostly, I did the traffic areas, with emphasis on the spots where Taz horked the other night. Then I did the area rug in the basement, but the blue chalk that Roxy used on the white area didn’t come up. Need to research what cleans up chalk.
The dryer will be done in about 40 minutes. Till then, I believe I’ll chill.
Good morning everyone.
I had an extremely restless night, which wasn’t made any better by the husband’s constant thrashing and scratching.
I was up at three, mainly because the ol’ bladder wouldn’t let me ignore it, but went back to bed to try and sleep some more. Nope, just a bunch of staring at the ceiling or wall, so I finally gave up and got up around 6:00. So much for sleeping in. Well, I guess I did in comparison to my normal wake-up time.
Congrats on the grandson, BBBoo!
It’s currently bright and sunny outside, and we’re supposed to have a partly cloudy day with temps reaching about 72 degrees. I dunno, it may get warmer than that. We hit 79 yesterday, so we shall see. After work, I mowed the lawn and watered all the posies in the backyard. I had taken care of watering all the flowers in the front yard yesterday morning.
I need to get to the MAUL to return those darn shoes and I need to figure out what to get my husband for Father’s Day. I also need to find a nice gift for my son-in-law. I know, most people don’t buy gifts for people who aren’t their parents, but he’s a father (a good one at that), and family. It’s very difficult to get gifts for my son-in-law because he doesn’t ask for anything, nor really mention things he would like. If he wants something, he’ll go out and get it. I’ll think of something.
Polar has tummy issues again. Damn it. Back to rice, chicken, pumpkin and bone broth. I should probably just give up on commercial food and feed him that. The older Polar becomes, the more delicate his stomach becomes. It’s a constant battle.
I really, really want to go to the nursery today to look for a laceleaf maple. I hope to fit that into my errands today. The hubby wants to go to the WBU to get more birdseed and look at few other things. I swear, he enjoys my birthday gift more than me. He cleaned one of the nearly empty tube feeders yesterday and filled it with seed. He cleaned and refilled both feeders at the end of last week, so it was surprising how fast the seed went in the large tube feeder. At any rate, he will stand in front of the window and just watch the birds. If I’m upstairs working, he’ll call out to me all the birds he’s seeing. I’m glad he enjoys it.
I feel like time’s a -wastin’! I need to get crack-a-lackin’ on the morning chores. See? I sleep in and I feel “cheated” of my goof off time and rushed. It’s only 7:11 for chrissakes.
Got some laundry into the wash, and the litter box is scooped. Go, me!
Coolio is on full blast, trying to siphon off some humidity after last night’s rather dramatic tunder-boomers. Nikki is sitting with her nose against the door - her way of begging to be let out. (Never mind that the door opens inward, so I have to either push her out of the way - and get glared at - or open the door INTO HER FACE - and naturally, get glared at - just to abide by Her Highness’s wishes. Which ain’t happening at the moment anyway, because hyoomidity.)
Need to refill about half a jillion rattie water bottles. (I murmur at them constantly: “You guys have a drinking problem!” Ye gods, they drink a lot of water.) The empties are sitting by the sink in a plastic tote I used to use in college, to schlep down the dorm hallway to the shared bathroom and showers.
Ah, memories.
You are a sweetheart.
Afternoon, mumpers! Much cooler day here today although we have so far missed out on any of the promised rain and thunderboomers. I can’t say I am too bothered, it’s just nice having the cool air blowing through the house.
Boo congrats on Sorenson’s safe arrival!
nellie I like the sound of a gym that doesn’t encourage phone calls. I’ve glared at far too many people hogging a bit of equipment whilst discussing their plans for a night out with friends.
swampy I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t wear your formal undies for mowing, surely it is imperative to be properly dressed when one is outside and visible to the public?
I was awake far too early this morning so I was logged into work by 7.30am, having dealt with the critters and had a cup of tea. It’s been a busy day of spreadsheets and marks-checking but have managed to get through quite a lot. Good job really, I’m worn out now. I’m off to do a bit of exercise and then flop on the sofa until 'im indoors provides me with dinner
One should not drink a Moscow Mule immediately before going to bed. Especially if said someone is diabetic. Woke up soaking wet with sweat in the middle of the night. Slept fitfully the rest of the time. Then Wifey woke me up this morning to tell me the bathtub wasn’t draining and the toilet was making a weird noise. Then she scurried off to her Sketchy Artists meeting. It was, as usual, a clogged drain. I’ve told her many times that those ‘flushable wipes’ she likes to use aren’t really ‘flushable’. I even showed her the letter from the water company begging people not to use them, and why. It just bounces off her brain.
So anyway, drain is unclogged and I’ve had an egg salad sammich for brekkie. I should take a shower and switch into shorts and a T shirt. It’s supposed to get into the 80s today. Time to get the window A/c out of hiding and installed. Then on to more prep for moving.
Ta.
Made it to the new orifice today. My destroyed knees are handling the stairs better than I expected. A few months of coming into the orifice (heh), and maybe my atrophied stair-climbing muscles will get un-atrophied.
I went to the basement, and nothing was set up. My desk was there, but nothing was on it. I found the crate that had my computer in it, and started trying to put things together. Eventually IT-Girl came in and took over. I’m sharing the orifice with another guy who’s working remotely today. His desk was standing up in another room. Our space was full of moving crates. And a rather large work table (sans top) someone built for the construction that’s been done was against one wall. I decided to take it apart and move it out, even though that was the movers’ job. Situations like this are why I carry a Swiss Army Knife in my backpack.
Once I got rid of the work table, I brought my cow-orker’s desk in. The back legs are supposed to have wheels. His desk was missing one. I set up his desk and found some laminated wood flooring to prop it up until replacement parts arrive. Speaking of parts, our desks are raised and lowered by using a crank that fits into a hole on one side of the desk. I didn’t have one. Our Admin found one for me though, so my desk isn’t a knee-knocker. I cranked up cow-orker’s desk so he won’t have to when he comes in.
It took IT-Girl and IT-Boy all morning to get the Internet up and running. They’re still here hooking stuff up. IT-Boy let me use his iPhone as a hot spot so that I could check connectivity with my laptop. Yep, I can work from home Monday.
I bought a Black & Decker drip coffee maker from the Salivation Army several years ago when we were still in Belltown. It was living under my desk on Harbor Island. Now it’s come out of hiding and is in the basement kitchen. There are some filters (I forgot to buy more today), and I ground a can of Trader Joe’s Dark Roast before lunch today.
Lunch today was three pizzas from a local place – for everyone but me. I had the traditional Trader Joe’s Cobb Salad and a Monster Zero Ultra. I bought a sixer of Trader José’s Mexican light beer for anybody who wanted some. I heard someone say it tasted like Corona. (A cow-orker went out and got a sixer of Modelo about 10:00, and those were gone before I went to TJ’s. I did have one of those.)
We did Olive Garden soup and salad for supper. Then we delivered a strawberry smoothie to Roxy - poor kid has been fighting fever and congestion all day. She seemed her usual self while we were there, but she had just been dosed with tylenol. Daughter said she hardly slept last night. Poor baby.
House is closed up and the air is on - it warmed into the 80s today, 90s this weekend. Dammit. Not sure what the weekend holds - I guess we’ll see.
Commence chillage!
BOOM SQUEAL BOOM SQUEAL YIP YIP YIP
And not even Prime Day yet. Up from napping, and making dinner(salmon, wild rice blend with mushrooms, and broccoli). Having a sazarac with hockey.
Feel better, RoxStar!
Yikes on the start of your day, Bumba!
Howdy all. Refereed 4 games today, 10:30, 12:30, 2:30 and 5:00. Temperatures were between 86F and 92F during the time. To say I am tired and sore is to belittle those fine words…I am nearly bereft of physical motion and my feet and knees file violent objections when I do try to move. I expect my incipient bath will be another exercise in torture.
But besides that, I refereed pretty good and had some fun.
FCM, hope Roxy is doing better.
flyboy, sounds like things are coming together, slowly but surely at the new place. And drinking on the job!!..scandalous!!
OK, need to clean up and seek sustenance (today so far has been 2 White Castles, 2 small bags of peanuts, and a small McDonald Fries with a Large coke, along with copious amounts of water). All y’all take care–me, I got to do 2 more games tomorrow…
Do you do hockey? Asking for 32 disgruntled fanbases.
I had a long workout at the gym to make up for missing strength training. I also spent time looking at Part D plans for when I turn 65. I never understood what the Donut Hole was; now I do, and I think we owe donuts everywhere an apology. What a stupid, needlessly complex system. And I hereby apologize to the current workers of various generations who’ll have to pay for my Medicare while not getting UHC for themselves.
MetalMouse, you rest up, y’hear? That sounds like an exhausting day, and tomorrow will be a repeat. Glad you enjoyed yourself, though.
BooFae, you can take phone calls…in the vestibule, the hot, dull vestibule where people are going in and out. I like the rule. I just wish they’d ban games and texting while people are supposedly using the machines.
shoe, at least Nikki is quietly begging instead of the feline equivalent of “Whhhyyyy? I wanna!”
flyboy, you were nice to buy the brewski. Sounds like things are coming along.
Don’t the pucks stick in your throat on the way down?
I think I may have made a strategic error by running our walking route the other day. I struggled keeping up.
Howdy y’all!
Read most, retained some, napped about halfway through.
rosie’s sig to all.
Can’t even stand up on skates.
Bath wasn’t bad and 2 BLT’s with lots of Cherry Kool-Aid have revivified me, just in time to head off to bed. Catch everyone tomorrow.
