Tales from the MMP - Influencing The Market

Happy picuversary!

Yay for TomKitten sleeping!

So I need some Mumper advice. Our house cleaners were at our house yesterday, and one of them knocked over a glass candle topper thingy and it broke. The woman felt bad and said I should tell the owner of the company who would reimburse me. But the glass thingy was a gift and not really my taste and I really couldn’t give a rat’s ass. But I’m inclined to be too passive, and I don’t want to not say something because of that rather than because it doesn’t matter. Does that make sense? I have talked to the owner when the shower wasn’t getting cleaned well enough. So I feel like I’m being assertive when it counts. But… I’m definitely worry about being too passive and letting people walk all over me. So would you talk to the owner over a broken item when you’re really sort of relieved that the broken item is gone and you don’t have to look at it any more?

Taxi, I’d say something because the cleaner felt bad and wanted you to do so. Specifically tell the owner you didn’t care about the piece, and don’t want to push the matter. “Honest, it was going to be first in the box for the next rummage sale…”

There is a rum called The Kraken

Here I go, off to the liquor store…

No, I’m sorry, that is entirely unacceptable. It is a well-known MMP rule that everyone must send me chocolate love offerings - and *good *chocolate, not that nasty foil-wrapped waxy Halloween brown stuff. Now that you know the rules, I expect you to comply. I won’t sic my posse on you because I’m nice, dammit! I am - it says so right under my name!

Home. Day 6 of playing boss is done, 3 more to go. I came home to 2 piles of dog poo in the basement - no more leaving Scruffy down there - I don’t need to be cleaning all that up. She goes back into her cage tomorrow. Cozmo can deal with hanging with the cat.

One thing about the basement that needs to change - the floor in the kitchen/dining/office area. We put down laminate “wood” floor, but it’s really cheezy. It’s shrunk from getting wet, it’s chipped, and just nasty. I think we should pull it up then paint the floor with epoxy. It’ll be quicker and cheaper than tiling, and painted concrete floors look good. Plus it’ll be easier to clean than the pseudo wood floor.

Got an email from daughter - except it wasn’t from her. Someone hacked one of her yahoo accounts that she never uses. I sent her an email about it - I’m pretty sure she wasn’t sending out ads for Viagra from Canada… or maybe she did. Teachers don’t make a lot of money, you know…

Happy picuversary!!!

Lessee, what else? I got nothing. Happy Tuesday!

I’ve done something with my good black Gingher fabric scissors. Okay, who took them? 'Fess up! You know you’re not allowed to play with the good fabric scissors…
One of the side effects of hoarding fabric is that things go to hide in the stacks of fabric.

Happy picuversary!

I hope I get a nibble on my resume soon. I was hyperventilating all morning at work and then the last thirty minutes the phone would. not. stop. ringing. and of course both managers were off in their own little worlds.

I have declared it Cheap Chinese Night as soon as The Boys get home. I don’t care about money right now, after the day I had I *need *it.

I just planted 3 dozen petunias - most in the flower boxes in front, and 10 out back. **FCD **didn’t want to eat, so I didn’t cook. I’m not really hungry - I may scramble an egg later or something.

I’ll be glad when daughter gets home - I don’t like dealing with her dog. I’m used to nice, calm geriatric dogs, not overly active puppies. It’s convinced me I don’t want a dog again. Once Scruffy goes, that’s it.

C’mon Firday!!

evening blurf
(different from morning blurf but just as blurfy)

carry on

rosie, if you’re going to blurf, at least have the decency to wipe it up. Sheesh…

:stuck_out_tongue:

Moooom! Shhhhhhh! You’ll have the mods back in here before you know it!

Yeah, that was weird.

I think you’d only take it as offensive if you wanted to. Nothing in my three MMP posts have indicated I attack people for language?

The power of suggestion and neural processing has long been documented. My commentary and admiration of the poster’s suppression of his/her GI tract 'twas a matter of observable scientific phenomenon.

There was no attack in my tone, but I am sorry you heard that.

omfgyeah

I know. When my fabric scissors go missing, I’m in Tiger Mom mode.

Can you quilt? I was thinking of quilting and I’m kind of scared. I don’t know if I want to piece together something (I’m more of a crazy quilter meets applique personality) or what. Longarm = no. Using my dinky Brother - no.

So I was trying to figure out an appropriate piecing method…sigh…quilt as you go but not a rag quilt.

Help, Dopers? :frowning:

Sorry, it’s just that my fabric scissors are starting to get dull…
TomKitten’s been shot, we’re home, kids bedtime in a few minutes.

Oh, no worries. I’m glad you were able to succumb to your GI tract and not have to worry. The last time I was sick, I spent the whole day on the interwebs in between ‘breaks’.

I’m just glad that blurfs aren’t open to the power of suggestion. :o

Just so you know, a blurf is the first untintelligible utterance you make upon waking up.

So very much to learn!

Yay for TomKitten sleeping through the night! May he learn to do that more and more often.

Cool that you can walk to work, too, Bobbio.

Hope you’re feeling lots better by now, Taters.

I agree with telling the boss, taxi, and also saying how little it meant to you. It’s important for them to know that the cleaner was up-front with you.

Two more days this week, then it’s a 3-day weekend. I wanted to take 4 days, but I have a meeting I can’t miss on Monday. Might leave early, though.

Watched a German soap opera episode and a special about William and Kate. While knitting. I’m close to being done with the second sock. Yay!

I’m sure there’s stuff I’m forgetting, so I’ll throw in an all-purpose rosie’s sig and some extra hugs.

Hugs.

GT

Sorry you’re sick Taters, (maybe) helpful hint; I keep a bag of candied ginger in the kitchen for nausea. It works for me anyway.

Happy Picuniversary!

That Kraken rum looks interesting CatMan, and, wonder of wonders, the Overarching-Powers-That-Be at the Oregon Liqour Control Commission allow it to be sold in Orygun!
I shall have to investigate.

Once upon a time, I had a friend who went to Puerto Rico, and brought me back a bottle of Puerto Rican rum. I don’t know what kind it was, but it completely put me off that cheap airplane glue they call rum down at the liquor store. I would be happy to find a drinkable rum again.

BTW, I am sick to death of William and Kate! They had the effrontery to put some Barbara Wawa Royal Wedding special on last night in place of Castle! Will that woman never retire?

Rosie’s sig to all.

Later

I’m casting on a new project tonight, but was debating: To bead, or not to bead?

I decided to bead. Lace, short rows, beads and I want to finish by the weekend. What could possibly go wrong? The yarn is grey, purple and teal and I have hematite beads.

I’m glad there is more sleeping and getting better (or was that last week?) for the Lissars.

Bobbio, I’m jealous that you can walk to work. Theoretically, I could walk to work, but the thought of walking past the county jail every day doesn’t appeal, for some reason.

Feel better soon, Taters.
Happy picuversary!

Rosie’s sig to all.
