Tales of a Louse - Tall Tales in the MMP

Woohoo! Our Federal tax refund was deposited today! It took 2 days to get our state refund and a week and a half to get our fed funds! <insert Happy Dance here>

Our refund (supposedly) will be deposited on 10 March. Hubby already has plans to buy a wakeboard  :dubious: . I had planned to apply ALL of it to bills. Guess who lost. Yup, that’s right, me. I’m too damn nice, dammit.

I saw Fight Club a coupla years back. I must have been in the right mood. When I watched it, it struck me as just absurd, so I laughed out loud while watching it. I really enjoyed myself.

I’m working too hard this week, people. I’m not enjoying that! Rumor has it we may have to work over the weekend too. :frowning:

Well, the roads weren’t as bad as I’d feared - only about an inch of stuff on the ground - and it seems to have stopped - >sigh< I still hate it

Glad yer home safe Rosie.

Beer is good anytime of the year. Nuff said. Just don’t forget it.

I have never seen Fight Club. That does not bother me. Like FCM said, that’s the rebel in me.

Ima go take me a bubble bath. ACBG is working waaay late tonight, so no time to see each other tonight. However, he’s off this weekend, so spend the weekend weekend is on. WOOHOO! Gotta make myself all soft and supply, so it’s bubblebath time!

BTW. who’s up for Monday’s MMP? It won’t be me cause I gotta be gone from Wednesday til the following Monday for some training in Tucson. The home office tells me I gotta learn some work stuff.

I suppose I could do–if inspiration strikes.

I’ll be the default MMP.

Going to watch HP2 with my 7 year old. He promises to hold my hand during the scarey parts.

I could never see Fight Club–I can’t even watch saloon fights in old Westerns…

I too am part of the Didn’t See Fight Club Club. I believe the first rule about it is that we don’t talk about it.

I’m not sure who I’m hearing when spats does the cheese update. My tummy, maybe, going “mmmmm…cheese.”

Glad you got home OK, anyrose. It was sleeting just a little bit when I left work. Kind of like really solid water or really wet snow, but just sprinkly like. By the time I got off the bus it had turned to snow, which was actually much better. It’s dry now, of course.

So where’s Rue? It’s Thursday and he hasn’t even stopped in to say hi. Paging Mr. DeDay!

So does all that traveling mean we won’t hear from you most of the week, swampy? I think you should inform your employer that you require a fast and reliable internet connection at all times. It’s a rule. Tell them we said so. (We are, after all, highly influential.)

Hope you’re feeling better, rigs.

Oh, and all this talk of tax refunds reminded me; I need to finish taxes. Got all my money stuff in order. Guess I should actually do them… Maybe tomorrow night. Just the thing for a Friday night, dontcha think?

Tres exciting evening chez GT: library stop to pick up movie and book on hold. Stop at Wild Oats to get yogurt and bread. I’m out of both and needed them for lunch tomorrow.

Now I’m going to read for a while. I’m maybe 1/4 through my book…

I learned a new word over in GQ, boys and girls! It’s “misandrist”, which means man-hater.

Can *you *say misandrist, boys and girls?

Boy, you’re getting shot down from all sides! I dunno, I haven’t really heard much good stuff about it…and the fans sure are rabid. Not that I have anything against rabid fans, I can be one myself, but I already *have *plenty of things to be rabid about.

I may not be able to post until late Sunday - if I have time tomorrow before I head out, I’ll post. If the timing works out, I’ll be meeting Drae FTF Saturday afternoon. It’ll be my first face time with a Doper. If the hotel has a public 'puter, I’ll try to post then. Otherwise, I’ll catch up with everything Sunday evening. So (early) Happy Friday and everyone have a good weekend.

<pouts, jealous of Dopers meeting FTF>
HP2 is over. Harry saved Hogwarts, AGAIN!

Yay.
Time for bed. I actually feel better. Maybe I’ll eat something tomorrow.
Tomorrow we have to go get my husband’s car (long story) so I have to be up and out by 0800. good thing I’m better. My daughter is going to drive me and hubby to his work. He’ll then drive that car home in the evening. Daughter and I will turn right around and drive the Mini home. This gives my daughter more highway practice, in the Mini, but this way she’s got an adult in the car, both ways. Neat.

Mini is cute as hell, btw and fun to drive. SAH* is still SA…but that’s not important right now.

*Seriously Annoying Husband.

Well, I have a nice story. I didn’t want to start a whole new thread about it (I have threadsinkaphobia) so I figured this was a good place.

A couple weeks ago I bought a used car. I paid $2,250, by check, private owner.
Today, in the mail, I get an envelope from him, with $250 in cash enclosed. And a little note that said, “In case you need it, God Bless”.

I’m going to use it to put a decent stereo in it. Thanks, guy!

That’s cool!

thank you so much, Anaamika for the letter idea- it was something I could do in class (I mean… uh… study hall. yeah.) and my mom loved it  She also loved the pancakes, which I made for her this morning.

I saw Fight Club. I’m more curious than I am rebellious. I was underwhelmed, but I can see why some people like it so much. I knew nothing about it other than “the first rule of the fight club is…” and a friend of mine came as the chick with the sunglasses (Mara? Myra?) for a spirit day thingy at school, so I knew there was a chick with sunglasses.

I probably shouldn’t stay up late like I do. I can’t ever sleep, though, and I prefer spending a few hours playing and relaxing than spending them staring at the ceiling. Plus it’s pretty much my only chance for “me-time.” The couple hours when my homework is done, everyone is asleep, I’m not checking the clock for work or dance or school or play practice or anything else, nobody’s nagging or bothering me… they’re priceless.

yay for the fridayness of tomorrow! I can’t believe it’s Friday already! Friday is almost Sunday, and Sunday is my day off.

Wow, trublmaker, that’s really neat. Wonder what made him do that?

Hi Dorothy! I’m awake too. Don’t know what time it is where you are, but it’s 1:40ish a.m. here. I read for a while, fell asleep for a while, read for another while (I’m 1/2-way through my book now) and am considering watching a movie or something. I’m not a big fan of ceiling-watching either. Makes me feel like I’m wasting part of my life if I’m awake anyway. Although sometimes I use the time to think through problems…

Glad the birthday stuff went well! I was hoping you’d come back and tell us how that worked out.

Not much else to report. I’m jealous too…anyrose and drae will just have to pretend we’re all there with them… right?

Marla. Helena Bonham Carter plays the deliciously jaded Marla Singer in Fight Club. Oh, and in case the MMP ladies need some further encouragement, you get to see Brad Pitt almost naked.

For the record Mika, a bunch of people telling me they haven’t seen it isn’t getting shot down. :dubious:

And just so you all have something to wake up to, here’s the last Cheese of the Day …

Next week starts the Fish of the Day. You’re all waiting with baited breath, I just know it.

MMMMMM… fish bait… oh… that’s not what you meant? Never mind! It’s billing day at work. WOOHOO!

Happy Friday, people!

I stubbed the heck out of my middle toe last night. This morning it’s all swole up and purple! :frowning: Doesn’t hurt too bad, though.

It’s my Friday off! Yay! Too bad I have to ruin it by going to the doctor. Oh, well, this waiting has been killing me.

I’m gonna put a pot roast in the crockpot, and do up the few dishes in the sink. Then I’ll take a shower and drive down to The Medical Center. I’ll post later to tell you what happened. Wish me luck!

Brad Pitt almost naked.
Someone get a bucket, please.

(I don’t think he is attractive)

Off to do this whole car swap thingy. We didn’t get $250 back (more’s the pity) but we did get a nice touring car blanket type thingy from the dealer. Sweet!

Dag Nabbit! Did I type hummus? Ah well, you figured it out anywho.

Thanks for the hummus, Lissa, it was better than the premade junk I got on the way home last night.

In other news, did you guys know my wife makes me tell her bed time stories?
