Tales of a Louse - Tall Tales in the MMP

Just look at this way Sean; there were more doughnuts for you to eat!

Is it time to go home yet? This day is just draaaaaaaaaagggggggggiiiiiiiiing along.

I do not know what I’m making for chop-chop tonight. I didn’t take anything out of the freezer. I don’t really have any leftovers. Sigh, this means stopping at the store on the way home from work.

It was a white button-down shirt. Not quite a dress shirt. And the stripes were white also… really more of a textural thing. I’ll have to look for a similar shirt or take a picture of mine.

Doughnuts, dog pee and Gilmore Girls. This has been such a stimulating discussion all afternoon!

I just gave a co-worker some fashion advice. I thought she was asking for it but it turns out it wasn’t. See, she called me up and asked if I knew about checks. I said that I did, they should always be paired with solids and not stripes. Turns out she was talking about paychecks. She shoulda been more specific, I say. It all turned out good though cause she called me a smart ass and I think that’s a compliment.

Well, it’s stripped now… I did that before I went to bed last night… :stuck_out_tongue:

Today was a pretty good day, despite a bad night. I woke up around 1:30, and started thinking about my project and my deadline, and I couldn’t fall back to sleep - at least not till almost 3. Ugh. But I got up as usual at 4:45, and headed to the office.

The short version: I got all of my stuff approved by Tech QA and Command QA and by now they’re probably uploaded to the mirror site. I volunteered to hang around to check them once they were uploaded but TPTB told me I could go home. So I did. Once nice thing - the Command QA guy said my pages were the best ones he’d checked - he liked my format and the way I presented the info… Go me!

I also had my initial eval chat with my branch head. It was supposed to last 30 minutes. It lasted longer. But it was good. Then later in the day, the Senior Engineer for our group asked for volunteers to be trained to do the command brief. I volunteered, and she thanked me, so I got a brownie point there. And I didn’t get peed upon, so I’m ahead of Rue in that.

Now I’m home. I want to rotiss a chicken, but the stupid thing is still frozen, including the guts still frozen in the cavity. Once I post this, I’ll go try to yank the neck out. But dinner will be late because the stoopit chicken didn’t thaw. Oh well, it’ll give me time to figger out what veggies to make.

TGIF!!!

Also, (sorry about the three posts), I went to a yard sale this morning, and found a cubmaster shirt. Like boy scouts? Yes, this was the uniform shirt of a cub scout troop leader. Exciting.

And then, there was a big rummage sale on the quad today, where I picked up a hard hat for a dollar. Exciting, also.

I’ve been looking for a white button-up shirt (I want my shirt to button up, not down) on and off since last fall. Just a plain white cotton long-sleeved non-dressy shirt without a button-down collar.

I haven’t found one yet. (Not that I’ve been looking real hard.)

I’ll probably stop wanting it when I find it. I can be that way.

Like, my brother has this folding couch thingy. More a loveseat than a couch since it’s just for two people. A divan? Davenport? It’s like the folding chairs you can get for camping or watching your kid’s soccer game (if you have a kid and said kid plays soccer), only it’s double, so it’s a small couch that folds down and goes in a convenient tote bag.

Well. I looked around for one and couldn’t find it. And since I couldn’t find one I needed one. So I looked on-line and in real life stores around me. I still couldn’t find one.

Then I found one. Oddly it was not at Target. It was at Meijer. (Which is much like Wal-Mart only marginally less evil.) And once I found one, I didn’t want it any more.

“What do I need something like this for? Everyone has their own folding chair around here. It’s not like I’d share it with anyone or anything,” I thought. So I didn’t buy it once I finally found it.

Around here it is.

I have a problem similar to yours Rue, only I go one step further and actually buy the thing, and then I say to myself "What did I buy this for?", only in an itty-bitty voice inside my head, not in a great big voice like the one my wife is gonna use when she sees it.

Speaking of Wifey, today is her Birthday. I know cause I bought her a birthday present yesterday. It’s also First Friday, which means we’ll be open 'til 9 tonight and I will consume way too much wine and cheese and snacks, and my stomach will be all grumbly tonight and tomorrow, and there’ll be B-Day cake, too. And my work-experience lady called in sick this morning so I’m all alone until Wifey gets here this afternoon. But I got the furnace re-started, so I won’t freeze, so there’s that.
Also there’s not so many people coming in today. I think it’s 'cause they’re saving up to come in tonight instead, so they can have wine and cheese and snacks and cake.

Also I stopped at Bi-Mart tins morning and they had a clearance rack of clothes outside the door and I got a pretty good windbreaker for $6.00 and a Wrangler shirt (green) for $5.00. No hard hats though.

Meh on Pink Panther–seven year olds liked it a lot. I love Steve Martin, but meh.

Peter Sellers can’t be topped. I did like the good Inspector’s side kick–he was funny.

Cleaned off the dining room table and puttered a bit. I am sorry to keep whining, but cold has turned into bad sinus headache. Progress, one supposes.

Feel the need to make an impact on something in my life right now. Too sick to go work out–maybe clean a closet? Ideas?

Maybe you should rest, rigs. Get well, then clean closets.

My doctor visit was short and sweet. Got my 2nd vaccine for HepA and B. Picked up the meds for my shot tonight. Went to the store to stock up on water and ibuprofen. I’m all set!

Tom brought me flowers! :: swoon :: I’m a lucky girl.

I’m still puttering. I might nerve myself up to tidy under the kitchen sink or something.I don’t feel motivated.

Reb -I’m bored outta my tiny mind! And I ahve sat around for 4 days. I used to think I loved to be lazy, but I no longer think that’s true…
No dinner for me (don’t feel like cooking). No closets cleaned either–but I did clean off the dining room table. I am so boring.

Is there anything on TV? <whines and pisses and moans>

Aw rigs, we don’t mind your pissing and moaning. I’m very guilty of doing that here.

I just got home myself. I had to run to the store after work and pick up fixings for tonight’s dinner. Mr. Taters is going to make his famous chicken boobies again and I’m making parmesan gnocchi and alfredo sauce. Okay, so I’m cheating just a little. I bought the refrigerated gnocchi and sauce.

I also had to pick up a plant and a sympathy card for my neighbor. His mother passed away. It was expected (cancer), but it still doesn’t make it any easier to bear.

Hubby wants to take the boat out and do some fishing tomorrow. It’ll be the first time this year we’ve taken it out this year (2006).

I don’t think we have any other plans for the weekend. Just kinda hang out, veg, and get stuff done around the house.

I’m tired. It was a very long day at work. I’m SOOOOOOOO glad it’s Friday.

Glad to see Rue stopped by with the required stuff popping out of animal story.

My first thought about the capybara (without having a clue as to what one was) was that it was a “Fish of the Day” preview.

Good that the sickies appear to be feeling better (just had a discussion on the utility of sinuses a while ago; my friend and I agreed that we’d just as soon not have any). Hope the sinus stuff clears up quickly, rigs.

I’ve liked Gilmore Girls when I’ve watched it (maybe twice, back when I had cable). I’m in a “pretty much no TV” phase right now. Might be more than a phase, since it’s been about three years.

I’m pretty pleased it’s Friday, too. I had Cheerios for dinner because by the time I actually got around to putting the salmon together I was ready to eat something. So I’ve made salmon for tomorrow. Not sure if it’ll go on salad or what. Tried a little piece of it and it was good.

Also did some cleaning up. I’m going to crawl into bed and read some more and get up early to (you guessed it) do some additional cleaning, since the brother is due to show up here early afternoon.

I’d like to make it to the Home & Garden show tomorrow sometime, although it’ll be crowded. We’ll see what I can get done by 10 a.m. Otherwise I might be stuck going on Sunday.

There was something else fascinating to say, but I’ve forgotten it, so I’ll just go off to bed. Happy weekend!

And that little matter of my being old enough to be your father, too…

I’m feeling fine! Just a little headache, and I still have a bit of upset stomach holding over from yesterday, but wow! I expected to feel like I have the flu - achy, chills, fever.

It could still hit me later today, so they say. But maybe they are wrong!

Hootie-hoo!

We’re in Indiannoplace, safe and sound. Da Rugrat doesn’t look any diferet, but he is a legal adult now.

Had nice little surprise waiting when we got here. My son has a letter of acceptance from th Engineering School at Purdue. The sme one I got kicked out of in 1981, and Igot BS #2 from last year. The kid can’t argue with genetics; there’s 3 generations of engineers and technical workers on both sides of his family. :dubious:

Yay for VunderKind!! And happy birthday to him too! Glad you arrived safely.

Glad you’re feeling well so far, Rebo; hope it holds.

I’m trying to get stuff done. On my second load of laundry. Getting recycling into appropriate containers.

Need to vacuum and clean the bathroom and kitchen a bit. I think I’m living Lissla’s life (the tidying up part of it) or maybe FCM’s. Hoping for some of that energy at any rate.

Happy Saturday morning!

GT

Morning, everybody! Look at me, voluntarily at the computer on a Saturday! But I just came in to gloat because in a couple of hours, I’m going to go have lunch with anyrose. I found the dang camera, so pics will be forthcoming.

Wow! I’m impressed. Have a fun lunch!
