Where are you two having lunch? Oh, and Drae, you and I totally need to do the same once I’m back in Jers.
Yesterday was classes and Fight Club and TNG and just fun in general. Today I have to write a paper for my philosophy(space, time) class on the topic of the topology of nonlocality. And by “write,” I mean “do all the research for, outline, and write.” I plan on taking it from start to finish today. After all, it’s only seven pages.
Hmm … capybara … I might be able to do something with that.
FCD went to ceramics class today, but he still hurts too much to be able to throw, so he watched and played around with some wet clay and generally tried not to let on how much he was hurting. We hung around after class to talk to the teacher about kilns and wheels, then we went to lunch at Red Hot & Blue - it was pretty good. We just got back a little bit ago. We’ve pretty much done all the constructive stuff we can stand for today. I’m going to strip the bed and remake it later. But that’s about it.
Tomorrow, I’m thinking I’ll go outside and pick up branches for a while. Beyond that, not much. After the week I had, I need a break. Maybe I’ll run out and buy a gallon of milk, but that’ll be it. I’m in lazy mode. Really. I am.
I’ve been sitting on my butt most of the day. I’m running a little fever. I did manage to make breakfast, do the dishes, and make Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Pecan Raisin cookies…
Tom has been prepping and painting the outside of the house. He’s such a hard worker. He got sunburned. I kept him supplied with water. And cookies.
Pooooor, rigs! Here, have some chicken soup/mashed potatoes/tea.
Sounds like you’re doing better than expected, Rebo. How long do the side effects last?
Cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. Only have one load of laundry left. Brother and I went out to dinner and then went to see Firewall. It was very suspenseful. Not the kind of movie I usually go to see, but he knows someone who was (just barely) in it and was also a tech advisor about the IT stuff.
It depends. The first shot (of 48, once a week) is supposed to be the worst. If this is the worst, I can take it. It’s supposed to last about a day. I’m still running fever, but it’s not so bad. 99.6 to 100.2° It makes me a little tired, though.
weekend!!! weekend!!! tomorrow is my day offfffffffffffff!!!
I have some extra exclamation points if anyone wants to use them!!!
my dad is cranky and being a mean old ogr… er… extra loving and caring becuase he gave up eating anything but dinner for lent. So he’s decided that I should go to bed early tonight (but it’s a weekend!! dramatic faint) so I’m going to go watch trashy reality shows which I love anyway (America’s Next top Model. how trashy can you get? I love it!) and then stare at the ceiling and scour my room for something to read until the sun comes up.
Insomnia is a lot less fun when you have to spend all that time trying to sleep, rather than just enjoying your solitude.
Here it is, after 8, and someone is still in bed. He should be up and dressed and taking me to breakfast. Instead, he’s snoozing and I’m sitting here hungry, listening to the dog snore. Life is soooooo unfair! Woe is me!
I suppose it would be mean of me to sneak in there, spread some tuna on his head, and toss the cat on the bed, wouldn’t it? Is that meaner than smooching his ear, then telling him to get his ass in the shower so he can take me out to eat?
But you get creative too, FCM. I like the tuna on the head idea for its sheer comic possibiities. Of course the possibilities would probably only pan out for the voyeur (voyeuse?) and not for the people actually living the scene.
Sorry for your detention, Dorothy. Hope you found lots of cheesy TV to watch or a good book to read. (It’s important to keep a few all-purpose interesting books nearby at all times!) I have tons and tons of good books, but I always have several choices by my bed so that I don’t have to go to the effort of getting up to find one if I can’t sleep.
I slept all the way through the night, more than 8 hours, even!!! (Extra exclamation points courtesy of SurrenderDorothy) Had an odd dream at the end that included one of my grad school friends. Haven’t seen her in probably 16 or 17 years, but she was there clear as day, right down to the voice.
Off to church and then to meet brother for brunch…
Quasi-Daughter found a smashing 50’s sundress and bolero jacket in midnight blue with tiny aqua polka dots. It’s adorable, and it only cost $60. I was forcibly prevented from buying a dove gray silk chiffon 1910 dress with a slightly dropped waist and bead embroidery, so I didn’t get anything. It was fun, and when she buys something I get all the joy of shopping without spending any money.
Today I tidy the kitchen and phone Intellectual Husband again to find out if he’s actually coming. I’m hungry. Breakfast time.
Okay, so I didn’t finish the paper yesterday. Getting it into a workable structure (in the form of an outline) took much longer than expected, due to information not exactly being forthcoming on certain topics. It was annoying, but I’m very happy with the way it’s turning out now. The basic structure looks like this:
A. Introduction
B. Arguments for Nonlocality
C. Arguments for Locality
D. Implications for the nature of spacetime
E. Conclusions
Simple, no? I can clarify further if anyone’s interested.
I didn’t have to resort to tuna - he got up shortly after I posted, and he took me to breakfast. We also went by the marina to check on the boat (it’s still floating) then to McKay’s for milk and a hunk of beef that’ll go in the rotisserie for dinner. I’ve got a load in the washer, and I’m still thinking about working in the yard. The thing is, it’s just in the 40s and very windy, so the wind chill is in the 30s. And the branches will still be there next weekend when the temps rise into the 60s. So I may not accomplish any yard work today.
I defy anyone here to convince me to go out into the cold!! The gauntlet is cast!
Sounds like you’ve got a good structure going, rifty. (And structure REALLY helps you out.)
You’re having the weather we had last weekend, FCM. I wanted to work outside but came right back in because of the wind. I might try again this afternoon; it’s 42 merkun degrees here without wind and with sun…
So, am I the last to learn that brain cells do get replaced after all? Haven’t looked past this article, so I have no idea how accurate its representation of the theory is, but the whole concept completely threw me for a loop.
Starting to work on my list of to-dos for the afternoon. Brother is napping in the living room. He was going to leave, but got sleepy, so I encouraged him to sleep first and then drive.
Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday. It’s so beautiful here today! I’m thinking a nice walk is in my immediate future.
I have flight confirmation from Intellectual Husband- he’ll be landing at 10:09 on Friday and leaving about 8 in the evening Sunday. Lovely.
I’m frying some potstickers for lunch and to take to work this evening. I haven’t gottten much housework done, but it’s a Sunday. I shouldn’t have to do housework on Sundays. I don’t usually get anything done on the weekends before work.
I’m still running fever and feeling blah, but I have managed to cook breakfast, wash dishes, wash the clothes, and make out (an almost complete) grocery list. We’re going to the store later.
I think we’ll have lemon-pepper salmon for dinner, with roasted taters (N.O.T.) and cheesy broccoli.
