Oh, just ask @EinsteinsHund apparently they are quite the critic of my posts.
And what does this number say about a poster? In plain English. No clever wordplay or numbers.
I try not to ask. I hear you don’t appreciate the inquisition.
Given that I joined in 1999, dividing the total number of posts I’ve made by the time I’ve been here, it works out to fewer than 10 per day.
That’s not excessive, is it? Is it?
@wolfpup has set themselves up as the arbiter of what’s excessive. You can accept or reject their commands. Being as they’re a dog, and I (and you) are not, I suppose I’d rather be the one issuing the “Sit! Stay!” than responding to it.
Besides, we all know dogs have less to say on any given day than humans do. So it’s no surprise, and certainly no cause for controversy, that the dogly standard for the right number of posts per day is less than the human standard.
I’m averaging over 5 posts/day, over the course of my 26 years here. There were years when I wasn’t particularly active, but I’ve been much more so since around the time of COVID.
So, definitely a blabber. ![]()
4.6k since 2006, a Blabex of about .64. I did take a seven-year hiatus, without which I might be approaching 1.
I’ll continue to sit back and listen to you blabbermouths.
I have less than half of the posts of anyone in the top 10, but apparently I am in the top 10 most prolific readers at 1.2 million posts read. Which checks out. I don’t read every new post obsessively, but I do often remember great old threads and then search them out to have the pleasure of re-reading them. And then when I search for them, my search often comes up with other great threads I also find I need to reread.
My count would probably be even higher if the links in old threads to other old threads did not break in the move to Discourse, so I’d be able to follow all the discussion again in context when people link to then-current threads. I sometimes look for those threads using keywords, but often don’t bother.
Checking more stats: Started 360 topics, read 523K posts, 4.3K visit days.
Huh. Whaddaya know? I’ve got a Blabex of 4.16, over 25+ years.
Shy of 26k despite posting since March 99. “Jophiel? Never heard of 'em”
Agreed. Base rate fallacy otherwise. From when I joined in Oct. 2009, my Blabex is ~3.5 posts per day (21.4k total). I’ve only started 148 topics, or about 9 per year.
So… the old prohibition on post-count parties has been rescinded?
23.7k according to my profile summary.
Your average number of posts per day.
Oh yeah, I coulda told you that. Without math.
I meant more existentially.
Member since early 1999, 78.5 thousand posts created, 3.5 thousand threads created.
Does this remind anyone of Sturgeon’s Law? ![]()
14.3 k posts and a member since Nov, 2003, giving a Blabex of 1.7.
Given that I have a much higher regard to the value of my opinions than how others see them, the Blabex is still probably too high.
It’s still interesting to read the boards, so I’ll probably keep going on at about this pace.
Nothing to add but thanks to our friend @wolfpup for giving us the measurement of “blabex.” I like it!
My Blabex is 3.547. Sounds about right.
17.7k posts since joining in November of 2017, which is 3114 days ago.
That’s a Blabex of 5.684. I do play a lot of Thread Games, which adds to my count but adds little to the overall quality of the board. And I’ve only created 106 topics, many of which are weekly NFL threads.
(And I’ve just added ‘Blabex’ to my online dictionary. Thanks, @wolfpup, for creating another word that’s fun to say out loud!)
Oh, and can anyone tell me how the ‘Time Read’ stat is calculated?
