“They call him Machete.”
That trailer already rocks about 80 different kinds of balls and that’s just for the Rodriguez movie. It Tarrantino’s Death Proof is as cool as Planet Terror looks, this might well be the coolest movie ever made.
By the way, that link didn’t play for me for whatever reason but here’s another link to the YouTube video on AICN.
Oooh, excellent. This and “Sin City” make up for “Once Upon a Time in Mexico”.
Rose McGowan looks great in this, unlike the recent pics I’ve seen where she’s lost a ton of weight.
I will go on the record right now with my prediction that this will be the greatest work of art ever created in any medium in the whole perpetuity of time in the entire universe.
Oh. My. God.
Cool isn’t the word. Fuck me that looks great.
No amount of screen time is too much for Danny Trejo.
I IMDBed him and found out that there’s a Sin City 2 in the works (that was probably obvious to most people, but I don’t really follow the industry), and a movie he’s in called “North by El Norte”.
Don’t know anything about it, but that’s a great title.
I’m at work so I can’t watch the video, but I’m assuming this is some sort of horror film? I tried googling it but my google-fu is weak today, and I only got that Tarantino and Rodriguez directed two movies and now it’s one? I feel like I might have missed something here.
WTF was that?
It’s splat-o-licious! I’m there, baby!
n/t
I have no idea what that means, but I actually did read that. Any more info on what kind of horror film it is, or why everybody seems so excited about it? I’m gathering from the comments that it’s a gore-fest, but what makes this stand out?
Grindhouse will actually be a double feature with one film directed by Rodriguez and one directed by QT. There will also be some fake trailers for other fictional movies in between. The concept is to recreate the grindhouse, exploitation movie experience of the 70’s. The RR movie appears to be a sort of action-revenge type movie, QT’s movie (Death Proof) is reportedly a zombie movie.
Stylistically, they are consciously imitating the look and style of 70’s exploitation films with grainy, scratchy film, intentionally bad edits, etc. (some of which QT did in Kill Bill), but they’re also really trying to amp up the “exploitation” factor. In they’re words, they want to deliver on the movies that the posters only used to promise.
If you ever liked movies like Death Race 2000, that’s the sort of thing they’re going for.
This blew my mind.
Diogenes the Cynic, I believe it is the other way around. RR is the zombie movies and QT is the a serial killer kind of movie.
Ah, thank you Diogenes. So it’s not going to be campy horror gorefest, but instead serious horror gorefest?
And it has Tom Savini in it! He doesn’t appear to have contributed to the make-up effects, but I’ve always thought he was a looker.
And Danny Trejo - uglyhot!
VCNJ~
According to this QT interview, you are correct, sir.
My mistake.
audiobottle, I guess you could call it a homage. There definitely appears to be a camp factor, but it’s affectionate rather than mocking.
Coming soon to a theater near you: Buckaroo Banzai vs. the World Crime League.
In addition to the actors we saw in the trailer (which was just for Rodriguez’ conribution, the zombie movie Planet Terror), Tarantino’s movie *Death Proof * will also star Rose McGowan’s character (most likely explaining how she gets the assault rifle leg) and **Kurt Russell ** as the killer!
This movie looks absolutely friggin’ brilliant!
This, my friends, is what House of 1000 Corpses should have been. Rob Zombie tried to make a tribute to 70’s style exploitation horror, and wound up making some silly disjointed really long music video.
Just one question though: how does the girl with a gun for a leg fire it?
Apparently she has a hair-trigger clit.
