I was going to post here simply to announce that competition trading starts on Friday, April 27 (tomorrow) at 9:30 am EDT and that you must be registered by the end of the day today to participate.
Then, I saw Chris’ post about rules, so I re-checked 'em. To avoid confusion:

Welcome again to all the new players… it’s great to have fresh meat… er… new competitors!
As far as your abilty to trade today, Chris, you can’t. Are you sure that you’re attempting to trade on a portfolio entered in SDMB-IV? The site should not allow you to trade until 9:30 AM EDT tomorrow.
By the way, remember my portfolio from Round 3? The one that finished the competition down 1.98%? As of the close of markets last night, it is up 14.37%. All on the basis of a single pick, and despite the fact that I sold Krispy Creme short when it was worth 11 points less than it is now and am still waiting for it to fall.
The moral of this story is that smart, safe, hedgy trading is not enough to win a competition like this; the month-long time limit means that you must make gutsy plays. You can’t simply wait for valuation to increase in a timely fashion.
