This should probably go in the “small world” thread, but here it is anyway:
When I first moved up to Santa Fe, I looked up the local Hash club. I joined the email list, and when they started flowing, one of the names looked pretty familiar. It had a .gov email address, so I looked it up on the system. Hmm, same technical area as me, that’s odd. Same Building as me, too. And look at that, his office number is one less than mine. So I walked across the hall and introduced myself. We were both kinda surprised by it, crazy stuff. 
**pinkfreud ** was one of the professional “answerers” on Google Answers, where the answerers earned money for correct/worthy answers to poster’s questions.
When that part of the site shut down, one poster asked where she might be found afterwards, and she refered them to…here!

MacTech works in the same rather huge building that I did up until two and a half years ago. At least I think he still does. Neither of us knew it at the time, though. I belatedly figured it out from the flooding pictures he posted last year.
I miss that building. We could take long walks inside on our breaks during the winter…

Una Persson used to be called Anthracite, which is a type of coal. She is some sort of expert on coal power plant operations (an inspector?) and runs the Unaboard.
ultrafilter’s username is a term used in advanced mathematics. He is also a weightlifter.
Distended Pendulous Frenulum ( I know, he doesn’t post much) met his wife on a Chinese air flight when he asked her to give him the crabs.
