The vibe I got from the end was that in this alternate future, Kyle was the leader. Vibe based mainly on Derek’s line after asking the folks with him if they’d heard of John Conner; “Well, you know what? I think you’re gonna be famous. My brother’s back and you’re wearing his coat.”
Not to mention the dog didn’t freak out.
It would seem odd to me of they cancelled a Terminator show right before a new Terminator film comes out. Anyhow, I don’t think there has ever been a Christian Bale movie I didn’t like so I think it should be an ok film.
So, you think, like Justin_Bailey, that John’s arrival in the future is about to complete the loop? Well, of all the choices this is the most dystopian one. It means no future at all, the world stays stuck in a circle, encompassing a century, but never getting far beyond that …
A different timeline extending further into the future is an explanation that I prefer too; though I wouldn’t say that her actions have been benevolent towards humans: she killed everyone at the company that seemed to be infiltrated by/working for the “other” Skynet, after all.
And if someone is key to her existence, it’s more likely John Henry (some episodes ago, I thought it might be Savannah but Weaver’s latest decisions don’t fit with this idea) for two reasons:
a) her entire game plan didn’t focus on John Connor (in contrast to all the metal we have seen so far) but on the development of an AI that was meant to “fight Skynet” (her own words) to “save the world” (though she doesn’t say whose world she wants to save). And though she acknowledges that John Connor plays a vital part (on the stairways, she said to Sarah something like: “Your boy/John may save the world, but he can’t do it without mine”), he doesn’t seem to be her prime concern …
b) because as soon as John Henry, “her boy”, is gone, she sees no reason to stay in the past but follows him into the future. The only one she explicitly invites to follow her is Ellison and once they are through, she leaves John; I suppose to search for John Henry.
Of course, that doesn’t mean, Weaver isn’t interested in John Connor: she addresses him, no one else, when they meet, she “accepts” his company when she prepares to follow John Henry and it’s conspicuous that they arrive at a time and place where John immediately meets everyone important to him and his cause.
[Btw, this might be a hint that her technology is more sophisticated than the time machine used by Skynet and the resistance: that one never seems to get the place right]
It’s safe to say, that John plays a vital part in her plan, but her plan isn’t meant to benefit him or, for that matter, humans in the first place.
If she acts to secure anyone’s future, it’s rather her future or the future of her kind of metal and not “ours”.
But her actions might also be concerned with the continuation of the future, or rather: of any future at all – though, if we are “back” at the point in time prior to T1, we might also say, that she is the one, who caused the circle in the first place.
But I doubt it.
Yeah, after 4/3. They weren’t at all clear between 3/27–which happens to be the date on http://www.fmqinc.com/terminator-cancelled/--and 4/3.
Look up a few posts, all of the “evidence” in that article doesn’t much matter and the smoking gun, the striking of the sets, would have happened if it is has been renewed or not because the storyline has made those sets unneeded.
The evidence on the blog that would be most persuasive would be the activities of the various actors/actresses.
Either that or just the ratings vs Nielsen numbers.
Look back a page, specifically to post #232. I’m saying that the blogger noticed the distinct lack of “season” in regards to “finale” after the episode that night and ran with it.
So you’re saying this is a response from Fox basically calling out a two-bit blogger with “It’s not canceled!”?
They probably couldn’t care less about the blogger. I’m saying that the blogger assumed, as I did, that the lack of “season” in regards to “finale” was a bad sign. I’m also agreeing with you that Fox hasn’t made a decision yet, although prior to 4/3 they seemed to be leaning toward cancellation; a reasonable person would take Fox’s stance after 4/3 as leaning toward renewal.
Given that the blogger hasn’t put up anything new since then, one could assume she’s not reasonable.
If there is a season 3 (and there damn well better be) I think the overall story will be John convincing the resistence of who he is and trying to restore the real timeline. By real timeline, I mean no jumping to the future from the first episode.
Oh, and next season, can we please do indivdual threads for each episode.
Yeah it’s popular enough to do individual episode threads I think.
Actually, she did put up something since then. A supposedly leaked synopsis of this last episode that a charitable person would describe as being wildly off the mark.
Said post has since been deleted.
In light of this, it’s safe to say she’s definitely not reasonable.
They can detect the liquid metal ones as well. That’s how T2’s T-800 determined he was talking to the T-1000 on the phone instead of foster mom Janelle - Max aka “Wolfie” was going nuts in the background.
So those liquid metal terminators are pretty much indestructible huh?
Would Glau be as interesting as a regular, boring every day human? I would have to say, “not a chance”. There’s something really sweet about a pretty young girl effortlessly kicking the shit out of some bruiser and throwing him through a wall.
I really like the show and hope it isn’t canceled but I fear that Cameron, as just another pretty face, would cause a lot of my enthusiasm to quickly leak away.
Glau is an odd duck in whatever role she plays. I would expect her to bring something interesting to the human role.
I wish all of season 2 had been this good.
Side note: After the (hovering) HK crashed into the office, it was, at least for a moment, true that someone’s hovercraft was full of eels.
Yeah it’s funny seeing an innocent little girl that’s completely oblivious to any and all emotions.
But I’ve never seen Glau in a movie or show that I haven’t liked so I assume human Cameron will be just as fun to watch.
Good catch.
