With only 678 posts I am never going to come close to being a prolific poster. However my ambition is to at least reach 1000.
I am suspicious that some of my posts made under Discourse are not being added to my total. So I am watching my counter.

Having made the above post it hasn’t registered as a post or as a new thread started in my statistics.
I assume it’s not even possible to choose not to have posts counted so is this a bug?

I think statistics are rounded. Did you hover over the number to get the exact number?
With only 678 posts (which hasn’t changed after about four further posts) I am pretty certain that is an exact figure. It doesn’t change with a hover.
As a lurker I have “3.9K” posts read and that does change to 3852 with a hover.
I am now certain that my actual “Topics Created” and “Posts Created” are not updating within a few minutes. Possibly not at all.

I started with mere suspicions but if my original suspicions were correct the figure still doesn’t update after a few days.
That said I am also suspicious my post count has increased by at least 1 since starting on Discourse so it isn’t completely locked.

All your posts in this thread are showing up under “Replies”. It looks like there’s a delay in updating the count.
How do I refresh? I click on my name, look at the statistics, then change to reading a thread. Then click on my name again a bit later and look at the statistics. Haven’t seen a “refresh” button. Or do I need to manually log off properly and then log in again?

I logged right off, logged back in and my post count is still 678. Am I doomed to never reach 1000 posts?

Maybe ity is only counting quality posts.

I suspect that the counters aren’t incremented in real time. In any event, it’s not something that we have any control over so we’re just going to have to live with how it works, whether it works correctly (if slowly) or not.
I might be showing as 686 for you (which gives me hope!) but when I look it’s still on 678.
It’s not worth diverting moderator effort to - It’s purely vanity that I seem to asign my personal worth and value to increasing my post count on the SDMB.
That said I noted there is this Trust Level 3 status thing - which I do NOT expect to reach - but clearly there are potential situations where an accurate post count is required. Or at least has benefits.

If that were the case I wouldn’t even be in double figures.
However my count has now increased from 678 up to 687. I remain suspicious some of my posts aren’t being counted but clearly some are being counted.
