Thank you and welcomee back, Lt. Dan Choi

Lt. Dan Choi gay and out and fighting against Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has been recalled by his National Guard unit.

Very interesting development, indeed.

The National Guard just got a little more fabulous.

Excellent news! I’m hoping the paperwork gets similarly “held up” for Lt. Col. Fehrenbach of the Air Force, and that someone gives him a long-awaited phone call with a good message soon.

Maybe they just needed something translated from Arabic and they’ll give him the boot once it’s done.

I guess that’s still better than the 60 or so other gay, Arabic translators who’ve been fired.

I’ve been in the Navy for fifteen years now. Gays and lesbians are in service now, have been since antiquity, and it is not a detriment to the military. Such a stupid rule.

The sailors I work with, jokes aside, don’t really care either way. I say ditch the rule and hold us all to the same standards of military bearing and behaviour.

Lt. Choi was interviewed this morning on Weekend Edition. The last minute or so, when he talks about being in the closet and his reasons for coming out, is …can’t find the right word: moving, heartbreaking, both…

Scott Simon tweeted that he can “see him becoming the first openly gay military analyst on CNN after he leaves army-”

Here’s hoping don’t ask/don’t tell will soon be a dim memory.
