Those of you who follow events in General Questions know that there has been a brew-ha-ha or two over the last week or so. Some of them led to Pit threads, ATMB threads or even off-topic asides in General Questions (which I hate!).
In each of them, the Teeming Millions overwhelming posted that they were happy with the job I am doing over in GQ, and that they appreciated my efforts on their behalf.
I didn’t respond to those threads, sometimes for administrative reasons (better, sometimes, to remain silent) but mostly because of my own negligence.
Now is the time to rectify that negligence.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the positive feedback. It really made me feel good to know that the work I put in over there is appreciated by our valued members. Even more personally, to see that in an otherwise not-good week was a real upper.
Be assured that I will continue to try as hard as I can to keep General Questions a forum worthy of the fantastic people whom we are privileged to have attracted as members.
I’m not going to single anyone out (but if you see someone get away with a flame in GQ, you’ll be able to figure it out ). But in general: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
It takes a great deal of class to remain above the fray at times, doesn’t it? Manhattan, your forum is the best, and I save reading it for last, just for that reason!
I LOVE the clean house you keep over there, and the recent handling of Morgan was perfect - all across the boards.
I see no reason for any mod or admin to take crap from posters and I respect you for the patience you show and the line that you draw.
I remember reading in an excerpt of your email that you like to keep in mind what most SDMB readers are looking for, and delete or move that which you determine is inappropriate. I send you a big round of applause, you are doing a great job and it is nice to be able to say so, instead of just cheering from my living room!
Manny, you’ve done a great job. You are appreciated, as are the rest of the SDMB moderators and adminstrators. You all take time out of your personal lives to make our experience here better. And for that, thank you Manhattan!

Manny, I got an e-mail last week from someone I’d never heard of, named Morgan Malino, who sent a bunch of regs the messy details of his/her recent banning and asking for a revolt against the regs. I read through the e-mails and postings, and thought, “If you have a problem with manny, it’s probably you.” And it was. Good job over there in GQ.
manhatten, let me say with no compunction that GQ is my favorite forum, and you moderation plays a large part in that. I would like to second coldfire’s “consequent and just” comment.

Hey, Manny, you (and your cohorts in omnipotence) do a great job for damned little thanks. Takes patience and a level head to keep this place running smoothly.
There will always be a few malcontents and armchair quarterbacks, but the vast majority of the TM appreciate the skilll and forbearance with which you do your jobs.
Which leads me to a snoopy question: given you’re all generously rewarded with a genuine SD coffee mug, are there any mods/admins who don’t drink coffee? Any mods/admins that are more prone than not to use it for more interesting beverages?
