Ken Jennings loses tonight on Jeopardy!

Here’s the article, with the URL masked so once again it’s not spoiled for someone who wants to be surprised.

You know, it’s 4:30 Eastern time, so most people in the US have not had the opportunity to see it yet.

That does suck. But didn’t everyone already know the date that he’ll lose a few months ago when it was leaked and made the headlines on a bunch of websites?

Hah!
There is only one thing that many Americans love more than seeing a winner.
Seeing a winner, fail.

Nope. I had heard something about it, but I didn’t go out of my way to find out for sure.

And be careful that you don’t post spoilers in your responses for the rest of the people who don’t know yet and want to be surprised.

ack- and me without access to a television that night only.

Maybe I’ll go have dinner with my grandma between coats of paint …

And how are people supposed to know the topic of the spoiler so that they can avoid it if they wish?

Yeah - I read it anyway, b/c I’m not really sensitive about spoilers, but I had no idea what USA Today had spoiled.

On the mouseover preview it says explicitly not to look if you don’t want to know. The title implies spoilers to come.

If you choose to look, that’s entirely on you. I take spoilers seriously, I give no hints. Even a hint would be a dead giveaway. How do you give a hint for something like this without giving it up?

We have just declared war on Russia. The bombing will begin in five minutes.

Bingo! It’s an American tradition. Now I can resume my watching of said program which has been spoiled on a nightly basis. Yay!

Oh, and I will pop up some popcorn and settle myself in front of ye olde boob tube to watch it all go down.

Sam

By simply stating that USA Today has revealed the date that <event that everyone knows must eventually happen> will occur, with the actual date in the spoiler box.

What you did was the opposite. You said

Thus revealing the time (between 4:30PM and midnight), but not the event.

Why Pit USA Today when you can Pit BobLibDem instead? (don’t click the link)

Airman Doors is a poopy-head

I feel confident I will not give offense.

You know, I bet there are at least as many, if not more, people who don’t watch Jeopardy regularly and would like to tune in specifically to see this, as there are people who watch regularly and don’t want to be spoiled. Even if you do watch regularly, you probably don’t watch every single night, and could still miss the event you’ve been waiting months for.

As one of those people, I would like to say:
Thank you USA Today, and other assorted media outlets!

I’m not sure on how avoidable the spoiler is in this case. It’s been on the internet for a while I guess, and I heard it on the radio on my way to work this morning.

Ah well, I’ll try to stay in the spirit of the thread.

Fuck you USA Today

Here’s another spoiler from USA Today about letting on what will be happening tomorrow:

Warm and sunny in the Southeast while the rest of the country goes through a cooling cycle. Rain in the Ohio valley and Northwest coastal regions.

But who didn’t already know that? :stuck_out_tongue:

What a let-down it was to see Ken Jennings lose. SHouldn’t it have been a bit…more…something?

Oh well. Now I can watch my favorite program again where people sometimes give WRONG anwsers, and where most long-time winners don’t purposely lose.

Sam

What the heck is this supposed to mean?

Did you watch the show? For that matter, have you watched any of the last month of Ken Jennings’ performances as of late?

IMO, several times has he tried to screw the pooch. Sometimes you could just see it in his face, only to have him decide to get his head back into the game and crush his opponents.

JMHO, take it FWIW.
