Memorial Day fell on May 25 in 1992. In those days, I was in graduate school at the U of Hawaii at Manoa, the main campus. Having recently lived in northern Thailand for two years, I knew all the Thai students and had even started hanging around with one of the cuter ones. On that Memorial Day, I took her to see White Men Can’t Jump in Waikiki – that was back when Waikiki still had movie theaters – and then to the beach to watch the setting sun. I thought the moment of sunset would be perfect for that first kiss. So as the sun hit the ocean, I leaned in to make my move – but being a proper Thai lady, she immediately asked, “What are you doing?” Which put paid to my intentions. Two days later on May 27, I was visiting her in her room at the East West Center on campus when she shyly asked me, “Do you still want to kiss me?” I did, and we did. That was 30 years ago this coming week, and I’m still kissing her. Next month will be our 28th wedding anniversary, but it’s really 30 years under our belt.
Thats beautiful ![]()
Nice. My husband and I will also be celebrating our relationship commencement that identical weekend. Ours also involved a movie theater, but not sunset in Waikiki. Congratulations.
Congratulations @Siam_Sam. That’s a very nice story. Congratulations also, @Roderick_Femm.
Happy Anniversaries!
Congratulations! Such a sweet story.
I’d make you a cake if I could deliver it. Maybe put 30 pidgees on it, on different tiers, lol.
Congrats on finding someone like that, I wish I had.
Congrats! We’ll be celebrating 34 years of marriage on May 28. Time has flown.
That’s our anniversary date as well, but seven years later. Just keeps getting better.
This thread makes me feel good. Thx😌
Congratulations!
