The 50 states of television

For Illinois add:

Still Standing
Roseanne

and for Maryland add:

Joan of Arcadia

(The location of Joan is never a big issue on the show, but I know it’s Maryland because in the episode where Joan gets her driver’s license the camera shows it and it’s a Maryland DL.)

For Michigan add:

Eight Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter

There was a short-lived show in the late 80’s called Heartland about a weird family who lived on a farm in the Midwest. They had a fat pubescent son who was always cracking jokes, and a teenage daughter who was adopted from somewhere in Asia and who was a prodigy with the violin. Anyway, I believe the show was set in Iowa.

:smack: I should have remembered this one. In the police station, the Maryland flag is quite prominently displayed.

Is Jellystone Park really in Wyoming?

Bonne was in Kentucky!

Davy Crockett, King Of The Wild Frontier was in Tennessee.

New Hampshire

The Brotherhood of Poland, New Hampshire

I think it was on last year for about 2 weeks, with Randy Quaid and Chris Penn.

I mean: Boone was in Kentucky. Sorry. :o

But at least you have “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton”.

Oklahoma!

*The Torkelsons

The Streets of San Fransisco*

and one of my fave X-Files eps: DPO

Wyoming

The Virginian

Louisiana
Bourbon Street Beat

I could have sworn The Dukes of Hazzard was set in Hazzard County, Kentucky.

WVmom, I don’t remember the Clampetts having friends or relatives in Wheeling – they were from Tennessee. However, the McCoys (of The Real McCoys) did – could that be who you’re thinking of?

As Barney Fife, Don Knotts worked in numerous references to his home town, Morgantown, WV ( FTR, I went to the same high school he did).

Mausmagill, Gomer was stationed at Camp Henderson, which I always took to be a fictionalized version of Camp Pendleton in California. IIRC, there was a brief mention of Camp Pendleton in the closing credits.

Well, Yellowstone certainly is…

Was there ever a TV version of The Client, set in Memphis?

For a third Maryland setting: Hot L Baltimore, which lasted for about three weeks back in the 70s.

I had to cheat and search IMDB, but I didn’t want to see Oregon left out.

Hello, Larry
Starring McLean Stevenson, it only aired one season 1979-80

I believe it was Camp Pendleton, near San Diego.

Washington:
John Doe
Dark Angel

Wasn’t HSB set in a fictional city in an unnamed state?

I’ve never noticed it in the police headquarters but in recent episodes where Adam and Joan have been on the rooftop of the school, you can see it quite plainly flying in the breeze underneath the American flag as well.

It’s one ugly flag too, by the way.

Nope, it was in Georgia. I remember occasionally the Duke boys would venture into Atlanta, violating their probation, of course. The third FAQ may explain your confusion.

When I was 10, we moved to GA from OH. I tried my damndest to find Hazzard county on a map of GA but wasn’t successful.

Apparently Lifetime has a show called Any Day Now set in Alabama.

I can’t believe these haven’t been mentioned yet:

California

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Angel: the Series
