So, we’re up to page 6 (by my count) and no one has said anything about the lighting/images being too dark.
That’s a complaint I often see here in T.V. threads (it’s not an uncommon complaint in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. threads, for example). Usually, I do not find myself agreeing with such complaints and have come to believe that some people are just more sensitive than I am about such things.
Well, since I did think that this movie was too dark (lighting/design not themes), I fully expected it to be something that at least some people would be complaining about. Looks like, oddly, I’m the only one who thought it this time around. I actually looked forward to my second viewing in 2D since I think 3D glasses kind of dim the image somewhat. But, no, I also found the 2D screening to be too dark.
Huh. I didn’t have any trouble with the light levels - I’ve only seen it in 2D, though.
Did anyone else get the impression Natasha was talking about more than a simple tube-tying during her “Graduation Ceremony”? She seemed way too embarrassed/ashamed/whatever for that. I got the impression that not only was she sterilized, they also, ahem, removed her ability to even enjoy sex - clitorectomy(?) or something like that. She could still fake it, a useful talent for a secret agent, but she got nothing out of it herself.
So why didn’t he just use a pointy arrow and push it right through her head, take out the threat right there? He’s shooting mooks all day but this time he goes non-violent against a clear and present danger?
No, I got the impression she was given a complete hysterectomy, not just a tube-tying, but I never thought about that notion and still don’t want to, honestly.
Well, said Tony Stark, once you’ve bounced gunfire shooting every guy in this room, you shuck all your armor and weapons to cheerfully wander into the next room.
Probably because it would be straight up murdering a person who isn’t posing TOO obvious a threat.
At this point the twins have just punched and kicked and not actually tried to kill the Avengers. I think if he would have just slammed the thing right through her skull he would have gone from the “protecting myself from a threat” level to “straight up murder”
I had a similar reaction to that scene, when Tony just steps out of the suit and gleefully bounces down a hidden staircase behind a secret door. Uh, Tony? Don’t you think you might want to bring that with you?
He put it in sentry mode - I guess he was using it to cover the door so no one would sneak up on him. Of course, if he were wearing it, being snuck up on wouldn’t be much of an issue.
Oh - and one of my favorite bits from the beginning was Strucker(?) asking how the fight was going on, and the mook constantly explaining that they were fighting the Avengers (as in “You idiot, we’re losing short-term and long-term, and will continue to lose no matter what, you idiot”).
I got the impression that he also set it there to guard whatever it was that was copying all the data from the computers, so that the upload wouldn’t be interrupted. But yeah, going in without the suit (even with the ability to summon it) was typical Tony Stark overconfident stupidity.
I’m assuming that if Thor can go all God of Lightning on the suit and all it does is supercharge it, he’s kind of immune to the Scarlet Witch’s mind control if he’s got the suit on.
So take off the helmet and walk around armored from the neck down with weapons at the ready, as he’s done repeatedly. (It’s still kinda dumb, but it’s not crazy dumb.)
*Here’s a nice little bit of foreshadowing in the MCU. So far we have the Tesseract, the Aether, the Orb and the Sceptre. Take the first letters of each, and you get…
T_A_OS
I’m guessing the next two gems will be found in a hat and nodule.*
The “graduation ceremony” was executing a helpless man. They made that pretty clear in her flashback/nightmare. That’s why she thinks she’s a monster and won’t give up her avenging to go retire with Banner. I got the feeling that the sterilization was an incidental part of it and they probably didn’t even consider it a big deal.
