The only part that bothered me from the movie was the Ultron bots falling apart like they were made out of Legos. Other than that i loved it, great action, great dialogue.
I’m assuming that’s because the manufacturing facilities in Sokovia aren’t nearly as good as Stark’s. So Ultron went for quantity instead of quality.
I’m not even sure what scene you’re thinking of, so I doubt it will raise an eyebrow here in the USA. Hulk vs Veronica fight? One of the buildings on the edge of the Sokovia plate?
Seriously, if two buildings fall we might think of 9/11. When dozens of buildings, not to mention most of an entire city are completely destroyed you sorta stop thinking of it in real life terms.
I think the tower that was under construction where Stark tossed Hulk through the middle and it collapsed on itself is what is being referred to.
I enjoyed the movie quite a bit but do think I prefer the solo outings a bit more. I’d love to see a Hawkeye - Natasha movie or a Mark Ruffalo Hulk movie (Planet Hulk would be a great base for a story).
I’m pretty sure I’m in love with the Scarlett Witch.
That’s exactly what she wants you to think.
Nicely played! Her magic sure worked on me… Those eyes, alternatively crafty and innocent. Shows how great acting an enliven a part with limited dialog. Plus, she’s smokin’.
I liked the story well enough, but I didn’t like a lot of the cinematography. The action was so fast at times it all seemed like a blur.
Was not expecting them to kill off Quicksilver. Seems like a waste of a potentially useful character for future movies.
Not sure I like the notion of Vison just casually lifting Thor’s hammer. Yes, it immediately established him as a good guy, but still…Thor’s hammer is special. He should have had to earn it somehow.
Sat all the way through the credits hoping for a second cut scene at the end, but nope. After Thanos did his thing, nothing.
You didn’t see that coming.
All of you guys that were apparently expecting to see Au revoir les enfants were doomed to be disappointed. This is a summer blockbuster. It was a really good action thriller but it’s not going to journey deep into the human soul. The story, the characterizations, and the dialogue were all top notch - for the genre this movie was made in.
Were you guys complaining this way about Furious 7? “You know, I really don’t feel we saw Dominic Toretto growing as a person in this film.”
If this was top notch, what was the first Avengers movie?
Also top notch.
Oh yeah, me too. Not bad from someone in the Olsen Twin family
Even topper notch. The first Avengers movie is a masterpiece for the “summer blockbuster” movie. Well written, paced well, acted well…everything is there
I thought the first Avengers movie was significantly better than this movie. As were Iron Man and Captain America 2, at the very least.
This was certainly better than, say, any of the Transformers movies (well, I’ve only seen two of them). But being a summer blockbuster doesn’t excuse any and all flaws.
Almost as top notch. Top notch A and Top notch B.
Yeah, I would have to disagree. The first one was great in that it hadn’t been done before, but Age of Ultron was a better movie IMHO. I loved CA: TWS, so I might agree with you there, but Iron Man IMHO is a notch below Avengers and Age of Ultron.
Most of the “flaws” I’ve heard people complaining about were more a case of them not paying attention to the movie.
Truly not, I fear.
I’m not really feeling the love for this movie. There was the pop of “wow!” for the first Avengers movie. I can remember dialog, scenes, stuff. It didn’t strike me as an A+er the second time I watched it, but the fight between Iron Man and Thor in the woods, that really fit the characters. Thor’s lightning charging up Iron Man’s suit to 400%–lol. “I’m always angry”–great dialog. “There’s only one God, ma’am, and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t dress like that.” Funny (paraphrase, off the top of my head). The plot kinda sucked but the characters popped. Not this time (the vivacious Scarlet Witch excepted). It’s a weak second entry.
I don’t know if Darth Panda was joking but I’ll use his answer: the first Avengers movie was also top notch. It’s not like there’s only room for one good movie.
I agree they gave less attention to Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor this time. But I think that’s justified - each of them have had movies to develop their own characters. So they shifted the focus to Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and gave their characters some more depth. They introduced three new characters: Scarlet Witch, Vision, and Quicksilver. And they moved two established characters - War Machine and Falcon - into the Avengers series. Given all these characters, plus Ultron, Nick Fury, Helen Cho, and Maria Hill, I think they did a decent job juggling screen time.
The only thing I think they messed up on was Sam Wilson’s character. As I recall, they only showed him in two scenes. The first was where he was at the party and was telling Captain America he had no interest in joining the Avengers. The second was at the end of the movie when he apparently was doing just that. So I think there should have been some third scene bridging these two, showing what made him change his mind.
