The All-New Diablo II Thread

As a matter of fact I’m following Yeti’s lead and seeing what his javazon build is like. He goes javs and then maxes freezing arrow to combat lightning immunes. I’m not following his build exactly, but I am following his lead.

Another_Zon (clever name, huh?) will have maxed Lightning Strike, Lightning Fury, and Frozen Arrow. Most of the synergy work will go into lightning, although I’ll probably have to max cold arrow (I think that’s the damage synergy one) to up the damage for frozen arrow. She was weak as hell until I hit 30 because I only put 1 point in anything I needed. Now at 39, I’ve stuck all the points I didn’t use into the three main skills I’ll be maxing and using. At level 42 I’ll be muling a Titan’s, a Moser’s, and Lycander’s Aim over to her from my other Zons and seeing how she turns out.

Guiding arrow has been much weaker than it used to be now that it can’t pierce. I’d avoid it unless there is a hidden synergy that I don’t know about.

If you have extra points, you will not be upset about putting them in the dodge/evade type skills. I don’t like being hit as a zon, and those help. You said that you had the valk up to 18 w/ +skills, so you may be just fine on the other passives as well. Just my two cents.

I’d agree with not wasting time on jav skills now. Those would be wasted points, sez I.

No hidden synergies. I’m just an idle bugger who doesn’t like aiming.

Lazy git. Mana waster.

Ancient Zakarum proverb: “Woman with 4% mana leech dealing 400 physical damage is not wasting mana on GA.”

MDSL, I still have that Shako for you…
:::tapping foot:::

Meanwhile, Seeker hit 90 in Doper Baal runs the other day. iampunha, if you’re still out there, how should the points be spent? I’d be inclined to put one in Hydra, but I’m not sure if her Firebolt is maxed yet. And Vit or Energy for the stat points?

I’m pretty sure firebolt and ball are maxed, and at this point I think we’d have to get her to about lvl 94 for points toward meteor to be worthwhile. So I’d either go for hydra if she doesn’t have it or mastery if she does.

I would personally go for vit, but that’s because I like Vit. Put them in energy if you think it will help more; at this point I’d say it doesn’t matter a hell of a lot.

And thank you very much for that! I had been looking for you, but I have a busy schedule now that classes have started. I think that grad students should have an extra few hours in each day! :smack:

Hey! Where is everyone?

Someone has made an impression. I just saw a character named… OG_Blessed. He/she is a Patriarch so it’s not a new character…

punha? Does this mean that people are actually reading your story? Maybe I should see if there’s a new chapter up yet…

I’m still here…I’m gonna try to get on tonight.

An Og, and it’s not one of us? Odd…

I have been absent due to being crushed under Aristotle work. And I bought Unreal Tournament 2004. Wow is that a good game. I’ll try to pop into D2 for a while though.

The character in The Call** is named simply Og. I have three chapters up now, and current time constraints (so far my only free night during the week is Friday, and I will possibly not have it free tonight) do not allow for much serious thought apart from school. TDL has taken a position on the backburner, but that’s also partially because it’s the middle of a new semester and folks are, like me, too busy to write fic. I do not have much time for creative thought, let alone carefully-crafted creative thought. Chapter 3 of The Call is lacking seriously compared to the other two. I simply didn’t have the time or energy to do a proper job with it.

Howdy Diablo 2 peoples again, hows is ya’ll?

My nephew is doing great at D2, his necro just beat Diablo and he is loving the final chapter. He and I have a question.

Do jewels do anything, are they worth anything, cubed into anything?

I vague remember always just selling them for cash when they came out.
Still the case?

Thanks for any and all replies. Have fun, ya’ll.

Good jewels are about the best thing you can put into a socket. You can get up to 40% enhanced damage, 15% increased attack speed, up to 50 average elemental damage, or other great mods. But of course, most jewels are not good. So far as I know, the only other use for jewels is in making crafted items: You put a magic item in the Cube with the proper rune and perfect gem and a jewel and transmute them, and you get an item that’s like a rare, but with a few other properties guaranteed in addition. Any type of jewel at all can be used for this, and it has no effect on the outcome, so you should still just sell most of the jewels you find.

I’m thinking about getting back into playing now and again, if you folks don’t mind a casual gamer trolling around your ladder games.

What time do y’all generally play?

Jewels of Freedom can sometimes be very useful, but not always.

Only if they have another good mod on them. Otherwise, Hel runes are better.

Johnny, we can always use more players. We’re on at a variety of times, but evenings in general are a good bet. And don’t hesitate to ask for help with adventuring or items, if you want it.

Got a problem here, and I don’t know if any of you have seen it.

Act V, rescuing the soldiers for Qual-Kehk. I definitely freed all fifteen soldiers, all the pens are empty - but it’s saying that I need to free five more. I restarted the game and did the quest again; same thing. What’s going on?

You have to not only open the pens, but you have to get close enough to the them so that the blue portals open up. Maybe it’s possible that if you go out of range of the pens too early, and they moves offscreen, that the men disappear but aren’t counted as saved. Stay with them on the screen until they all go in before going to the next enclosure.

I’ve seen something similar when I’ve been partied with someone who’s already done the quest. I think it’s because I portaled back to town too soon, so the only person witnessing them actually going into the blue portal is that person.

If that still doesn’t work…I don’t know.
