I’ve joined. Thanks for that Arctic set. I need more dex and str to use it, though.
I had built up a lvl 31 amazon over on East, but in the grand scheme of things, I guess that ain’t much. (back in the day, I could start a new character and get it up to ~65 in a weekend. In retrospect, that’s probably kinda sad.) Starting with nothing but the kindness of strangers, that’s pretty hard.
Anyway, for some reason, I can’t stay on for more than about 20 minutes before my connection gets dropped. I don’t know if it’s because I have the slowest DSL, or because of the SW pre-installed on this new eMachines PC. But Battlenet doesn’t seem to like me.
I’ll have to learn how to whisper, add, etc. In the past, I rarely played with anyone that wasn’t sitting next to me.
Your welcome. We’ve gotten to the point that we can get a character from 1 to 85 in a day Thats even sadder.
Important keys to learn, To add someone to your friends account: /f a <ACCOUNT NAME>, to message everone on your friends list: /f m <MESSAGE HERE>, and to wisper someone that isn’t on your f-list: /w <ACCOUNT NAME> <MESSAGE>
Good to meet you Ruck, sorry your connection wasn’t holding up. To answer your earlier question, there are certain uniques, runewords and cube recipes that are ladder-only. Once a ladder is reset, everything on ladder is moved to non-ladder and everyone must start over in the new ladder realm. This is often accompanied by a patch.
Hope to catch you again on bnet, I’m usually on either *sd2-team2 or *micah
When do you guys usually play? I played for about half an hour alone last night, came back after one of the regular disconnects, saw that there was already a game, and in it were a bunch of people dropping mid-range stuff.
What other differences are there from about 3 years ago? It seems that nobody does blood runs, that you can’t leech exp hardly at all (those may be related, but blood runs were good even if you weren’t leeching), and that it’s harder to get rushed (It used to be that Act 2 was the only PITA from a rushing standpoint, but now you have to actually collect all of Kalim’s parts, etc.) Any other siginficant changes?
Leeching still works, it just works somewhat differently. But we’ve found that the quickest way to get from 1 to 20 is in Hell Chaos runs, which is about as leechy as you can get (though getting to Hell chaos at level 1 is admittedly a bit tricky). Going from 20 to 24 is really the only slow part of powerlevelling. A2 is now a bit harder to rush than it once was, but a3 is nearly as easy as ever. You still don’t need any of Khalim’s anatomy: The rusher opens a portal in Travincal near the high council, the rushee stands around nearby while the Council are killed, then the rusher goes to Durance 3 and opens a portal, and the rushee stands around while Mephisto is killed.
You do the Ancients to go from 20 to 2x, don’t you?
3 years ago I thought that I knew all there was to know about Amazons and Sorc’s. I thought that the Enchant skill enabled your own melee weapon with extra fire damage. That seemed worthless to me. In retrospect, that was stupid. Today I learned the error of my ways. A little boost from that allowed me to get though a lot of Act1. I got disconnected, but when I got back, I was able to use all of the Arctic set that y’all gave me, and that made the rest of Act1 a breeze.
My next sorc will have this skill.
For some reason that I haven’t figured out yet, I get disconnected after 15 - 20 minutes or so. If I exit out as soon as I sense the problem, I can come back into the game and go a little longer. If I push it, I have to wait several minutes to try to log back in. So don’t get upset if I disappear from a game suddenly.
The McAfee SW on this new PC doesn’t seem to be the culprit. Other stuff downloading in the background causes lag (I have the slowest DSL), but doesn’t seem to be the problem. Any help for this would be appreciated.
I tend to play from about 8 - 9 am EST, and then at various times in the evening.
I’m on many evenings from 7-10 central and most weekends.
My opinion is that if you’re powerleveling, norm anicents is a waste of time. This weekend we can rush your zon through to hell and level her to 60 so she can do hell baal runs.
Be advised that the enchant you got was fully maxed, which takes 60 skill points (doesn’t leave much room for anything else). Just a single point in it will add maybe 100 damage (if you’re otherwise going fire, so have +fire skills and fire mastery), as compared to the multiple thousands of damage from a pure enchantress. An enchantress is a viable build, though, and with perfect gear, actually does more damage than the standard fireball sorc (plus the bonus to her partymates, of course).
micahjn, I’d disagree about norm ancients, unless you’ve found some faster way to get xp in that level range. From 20 to 25, levels come fairly slowly, and if you do norm Ancients, that’s one less of those slow levels you have to get the hard way.
