Well, part of the leaving the house was fruitless. Cricket just wanted to sell me a device because I didn’t have an account with them.
I did, however, pick up the tomatillos, poblanos and jalapeños at the market and took Nelson to the dog park to blow off some steam. Poor little guy’s going to be inside or on a leash for most of the next week.

Looks like I was in step with a couple of you without knowing it. 
DH and I also elected McD’s for lunch after deheathenating, and I did some shredded pork today. Unlike FCM, I went Asian-ish. Added a cooking liquid to the crockpot with the pork consisting of water, soy sauce, garlic, and umami. Once the meat was shredded, I added sesame oil, oyster sauce, and hoisin garlic sauce. I like how this batch came out. The pot roast now in process smells promising, too.
All these dinners sound yummy.
I had fake crab salad because I wanted to use that up first. I should have made the pork chops today, I’m hungry.

My mother called tonight and I found out she is looking to buy an eggbeater and a new cane. I told her not to buy anything until after Christmas, although I think she needs a new cane now. She fell using her current cane, she wants one with pronged feet for more stability.
Getting old sucks.

We went out to the steak house for Mrs. L.A.'s birthday dinner. We both had the New Yor steak with a baked potato. For starters, we had some bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, escargots, shrimp cotails, and Caesar salads. Dessert was pineablle upside-down cake. A carb-heavy dinner already, I had half of my dessert. (Half of our steaks, for that matter.) And we each had three glasses of Merlot.

I took my babushka cart and walked to the grocery store today. Lots o’ shoppers! A woman struck up a conversation with me. She was shopping for a widowed dad and three kids who had no money to buy their own Thanksgiving foods. Her son died last summer, so she’s not in the mood for celebrating but wants to help others have a good dinner.
I am humbled.
my mother lives in a place (not assisted living) where you can move in with a small, well-behaved pet, but you can’t acquire a new one once you are there. Makes it easier for a lot of older folks to move there.
How does it taste? Some honey is sold as a solid, rather than a liquid.
Took a very good nap this afternoon so may or may not sleep tonight. I need to. There is a bad accident on the highway with multiple fatalities. Horrible this time of year or any time really. When this happens they shut down the road for hours. I am glad I am not sitting in a long traffic jam. Our local sheriff’s office has a fleet of three medical helicopters. They sent out stickers for residents to attach to their licenses and insurance cards. The service is free for locals but they will bill any insurance. Any serious illness or accident always get sent to the mainland. Our local hospitals are very small and not equipped for major trauma.
I got that mound of laundry done finally. Also spent a great deal of time playing with Hell pup. Me and hubs keep telling each other he is just a puppy and will be a great dog later once he is over the puppy stage but right now he is a handful and is exhausting. Poor little **Buddy. **.
I finally got my evaluation on Firday and got a three percent raise. All outstanding ratings. Go me.

My arms were a bloody mess when Ripple was a pup, always biting on me and with me on blood thinners it’d didn’t take much. He learned, and settled down, and is a good dog. Buddy will too.
My son and his wife just invited me for Thanksgiving. They weren’t going to celebrate because they planned to put their ancient dog to sleep yesterday. But ancient dog took a big turn for the better, so they invited me up there. I’m supposed to bring a salad, the one thing I decided not to make for my own little celebration. No matter. I can get stuff tomorrow.
I will have to eat my turkey drumsticks some other time.
