the almost turkey day mmp

I have a mouse in the kitchen. I’m a chicken so have decided to adopt it. I can’t stomach the trap-thing and have purchased a pointless humane trap, which I already know doesn’t work because I’ve tried it in the past.

Meeces are killing me as well. Big Wrek brings firewood up and stacks it along a wall in the garage. Mice are always atttacted to it. I have a cat flap into the garage I unhook it when the garage door is down. The Siamese cats have never used it. (Betsy the Beagle sticks her head out of it when I drive in. Her bod won’t fit.) I swear I saw a mouse peep in it once. I talked to the cats about their obligations. They need to do their part. No reaction.
I set traps and throw them away when they are successful.
You should see the size of the Rats Mr.Wrekker catches in the barn. He shoots at them sometimes. It’s a scary place, that barn. His rat traps are huge. He reuses them.

Today is Son-of-a-wreks birthday. We’ll have a little thing for him later.
I have no other plans for today. I need to look at bills and see what needs to be paid.
Y’all have a fine hump-day!!

I wouldn’t mind them so much if they could be potty trained.
However, anything that shits and pisses in the house better be using the toilet.
Even the cat goes outside.

Snap traps and the ones that electrocute them are quick; sticky traps, poison, and cats are cruel.

I received a tax assessment from the county auditor. The taxable value of our house was $126K last year. This year, it’s $142K. Zillow and Zip Realty estimate the sale value at $246K. Redfin estimates $227.5K. I bought it in 2003 (well, I’m still buying it – for another six years) for $96K.

Of course, the sale value means nothing since we’re not selling it.

Getting some things done around here, but not the things on the priority list, but I guess something is better than nothing.
I cleaned out the linen closet. I have way too many towels, and too many (7) bottles of toilet bowl cleaner. There are three in the linen closet, two in the bathroom, and two in the powder room. While how I managed to acquire that many bottles is a bit of a mystery, the even bigger mystery is why my son puts empty containers back on the shelves. There were two empty drain cleaner containers. He does know what a trash can is, he does know where it is, but for some reason he will carry the empty bottle out of the bathroom, where the trash can is, and put it back on the shelf in the hall closet.

flyboy, bought my house in 1997 for $103,900; latest appraised value for taxes (September 2019) is $152,900, but Ali-bama taxes are pretty low, so not much damage to the budget.

Haven’t had a mouse infestation in years, hope to keep it that way (Cook’s pest control gets a fair amount of cash from me each year to be sure of that). Agree with Vito, the ‘humane’ traps really don’t work that well.

Plastic bags dropped off at Wal-Mart, extra-large mug bought at Dollar Tree to replace one I broke (30 oz. mug for $1.09; can’t beat it) and picked up 4 more 12-pack cartons of Pepsi at Kroger (hey, at 4 for $12, that’s 27.25 cents per can, just too good a deal to pass up despite having enough reserves to last to Memorial Day…).

Head off to my daily MAS*H marathon (3-5 pm on TVLand). Still love that show.

Ours did, too. Mice don’t normally come into a house where a cat lives. This was a few weeks ago. We’d settled down for a night’s sleep, with the cat in her usual spot between us, when she suddenly launched herself off the bed. Didn’t think much about it until the next morning when I found where she had barfed up a reddish liquid on the floor that contained fur in it. Gag.

I was feeling a little hungry before I started reading the graphic mouse-ecution stories. Blech. Not that I don’t have a few of my own. However, now that I live in a second-floor apartment in a complex, I don’t have to deal with meeces any more. That is one battle I do not miss.

Beck, happy anniversary of giving birth!

Wet One, keep up the good work!

I’m behind schedule because an old flame called. He does this now and then to wax nostalgic. I don’t mind, but it threw my off my schedule today. Well, that, and I made the mistake of reading some posts in a certain thread in the ATMB and spent some time trying to respond coherently before coming to my senses. When the world is ugly and cruel, I can always stop in here and soak up the good will. It’s always sunny in the MMP!

Now it’s off to the gym. Lupus is cowering in a corner today, so I’m taking advantage.

Howdy Y’all! I accomplished all the day’s tasks and heated up sup. I am exhausted! OK, not exhausted, but feel like I did a buncha stuff today, which I actually did. Now ‘tis chill and Netflix time. Have I mentioned lately how much I loooooooooooooove bein’ retired?

Yeah --and big ones at that!

Someone on my 15 back in the day had a t-shirt referring to the remains recovered as “leftovers” but the exact wording I can’t recall. I of course had a couple shirts asking people to support their local hooker.
AND OUR FUDGE ARRIVED FROM URANUS!!! I am especially happy with an option they didn’t have last year – the Mayor’s #2 – which contains nuts and candy corn.

Uranus need a colonoscopy place ----- the t-shirts just sell themselves.

Well, we’ll be thinking good thoughts for you no matter what orifice is involved.

Wait – that doesn’t sound quite right.

But I am sure you are used to that here.

Mooooooom and swampy, there must have been something in the atmosphere last night, because I didn’t sleep for squat either. I woke up about 2 and slept fitfully until 5:15.

peaches, I fully expect my dog to be on mouse patrol next week, as we’re going to my dad’s. Couple a house built in 1860 with living in a rural area and he usually gets a couple of winter houseguests. Last Thanksgiving, Nelson and his mama Fifi found one and she taught him how to catch it.

I did sales orders this afternoon since the guy who usually does them had a dentist appointment. Everything’s coming together for me being out for a week.

ruble, as to the fudge from Uranus…nope, I’ve got nothing. Enjoy.

Swept the kitchen and actually Vacuumed under the big rug I have over the wood floor in the Great room. Dinner was Mac-n-Cheese with Cherry Kool-Aid (I’m old and will eat as I like).

Need to mail the credit card bills tomorrow, and may also get the flu shot while I’m out.

All y’all have a restful night.

And you eat like a six year old. :stuck_out_tongue:

Add me to the insomniacs last night.

I had taken Monday and Tuesday off this week for DH tending, so today was effectively my Monday, and it lived up to it. Got to irk to discover that my sup (who I really like) had managed to get fired on Monday. Callers were willfully dumb and had major attitude. My shoulders hurt, and the apartment complex let us know that water will be shut off for plumbing repairs tomorrow and possibly Friday. Traffic sucked on the way home, and I got a raging headache from the pickup that was tailgating me for several miles with super-bright headlights blazing in my rear-views. WHY do car side mirrors not have a night mode like the central one does?

Nellie, I didn’t actually give birth to this one. He came with a package deal. We instantly were Ma and Baby boy. I’m so proud of this boy, I can’t tell you. He astounds me everyday. And you’ve all heard how good my DIL is. And my 2 Grandwreks are the living end. I’m a lucky Ma.
What’s this about an old flame? Hmmmm?

It doesn’t matter how the bond was made. It sounds like a really strong one!

No comment on the old flame. It was a very hot flame but not good for having around all the time. You’ll have to use your imagination for the rest.

well after my dinner last night i went out to fix a trashcan mistake… see earlier in the week … i put the dead hollyhock clippings in the recycling bin and not the plant one … and since im lazy i tried picking up the whole bin and dump it in … well it sort of worked until the lid flipped forward and crushed my hand cutting a finger ,i dont know why i had grabbed it near the hinge … bled like crazy …
