Nellie, if you’re geographically close enough, I’mma kidnap you and force you to come eat dinner with my family. We put the fun in Dysfunctional, but the pies are good!
Your friend’s hair loss sounds serious. I hope she can get help. That situation is unfair to you and mutual friends. I’m so sorry. Her refusal of help might be a stab at Independence, but it’s also a stab at the people who really want to help. But you really can’t reason with that “logic.”
Dinner will be meatloaf (add your own “again” here) and a little later than usual giving me time to work on Christmas cards. I usually like to be done by Thanksgiving but I writing a little more inside most of them this year and I’m behind the time.
I couldn’t be geographically farther from Georgia without leaving the continental US, but I so appreciate your offer. Families that aren’t dysfunctional are boring! I’m really OK with being alone for the holiday. I was veering toward feeling sorry for myself for some reason, but not now. I’m not alone because I’m unloved; it’s just circumstantial. The loneliest I’ve ever been was when I was in a hellish marriage and kept the truth from everyone. I wouldn’t trade where I am for that for anything. My siblings and I are very close, even though we all live far apart. My kids are thoughtful and loving. I’m better off than so many people!
My poor friend. Her stubborn independence has gotten her through more than most people could take. The problem is it’s now keeping her from facing the reality of her situation. She doesn’t realize how hard it is on others. If she did; she’d probably shut off from the rest of us completely.
Now that the fog has lifted, the birds are singing again.
Howdy Y’all! I did chores and errands. Also made sup (peas ‘n carrots for the vegetative matter) which has been et. Now for an excitatin’ Firday evenin’ with Netflix!
I was told a few minutes ago that Kraft Mac&Cheese is not pasta(:(). My diet plan says pasta tonight. I have penne, mushrooms, home canned maters and sausage. I made up a recipe. Sure seems like it’ll be good.
I kept a bit of the banana pudding. I hope I get to eat it. Crossed fingers.
Evening all. Still raining (or about to rain) here, it’s been that way all day. 51F now, so rain is still better than snow…
Did some computer shopping, also spotted a desk/computer layout at Office Depot that I might add to the Spring furniture buy, but most of the afternoon has been TV and internettin’. Soup-n-sammich for dinner.
A fair-sized skunk just came running across the yard, and went under the deck. Then we heard crashing brush from next door. Could’ve been someone throwing something back there, ot it could have been raccoons. I was like, ‘Hi, Skunky!’ Mrs. L.A. was like, ‘Shhhh!’
nellie, my boy Nelson’s collar has a couple of reflectors, as does his leash. None of his harnesses or coats do though. He doesn’t go outside off leash unless he’s at the dog park, so leash and collar will likely do.
metal mouse, I’m in your boat re groceries. I did stop and pick up some aigs and cheese on the way home from irk today and will have to pick up a salad tomorrow to take for lunch Monday (no leftover green vegetation before leaving that way). It rained here most of the day and into the evening too.
butters, when I had to go to the laundromat or laundry room to wash, I always joked that I would be down to bathing suit or evening gown options for irk before do the laundry. Even after three years of having a washer/dryer in my apartment, I likely won’t have to buy drawers, socks or washcloths for a few more years.
peaches, count me in as one of those who would love to receive gifts in a reusable shopping bag (also known as matching luggage in Tennessee ). I always have a mess of them in the trunk of the car and another mess on the hook by the front door. The only time that I don’t use them shopping is when I get low on plastic bags for lunch (been known to carry the same one for up to a month. They don’t allow reusable bags beyond security at irk ).
Irked, knocked off an hour early, picked up a couple of items on the way home and wound up picking up ribs for supper. Now it’s just chill.
Johnny LA, since moving here, I’ve had to remind myself repeatedly, “It’s not skunk” because sativa smells a lot like polecat. Good to know where you live, it really IS skunk.
Becks, I’m sure your pasta dish was scrumptious. Of COURSE Kraft Mac and Cheese is pasta. It’s just Americanized pasta. My Italian mama never called anything “pasta,” by the way. She called each kind by its name. So Kraft M&C was “macaroni.”
I went to the gym. Everything hurt my hands, but I tried to act nonchalant when I wanted to say bad words in Italian. My neighbor gave me a ride. She’s staying home for Thanksgiving but wants to be alone and vegetating, as she’s been under a lot of stress. No problem, says I. I feel even better knowing she’s below me, relaxing like I’ll be.
My gym time was interrupted by mutual friend of fallen friend. Fallen Friend’s DD wants nothing to do with helping her mother because it’s haaaaard. I know the daughter. She’s a sweetie. I won’t judge her, even though I’m tempted because fallen friend saved her ass more than once. Still, I’m not in the DD’s shoes. So grateful my kids would help me in a heartbeat if I’d ask, which I never would.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 63 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 77 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. We shall see. No plans at all to leave da cave today. Neither of us is of a mind to do so. Plus, if’n we do see rain this afternoon that will only encourage us to be hermits. Sup shall be steak, sallit, garlic smashed N.O.T., and cheesey bread. This will most likely be an early sup/late N.O.L. deal.
Beck you’re pasta dish sounds teh nummy! Also, Kraft mac 'n cheese is pasta. It has macaroni. Macaroni is pasta. I have spoken. So mote it be.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
Overcast and sub-freezing here, with rain promised later this afternoon and overnight. Apart from the usual laundry, I’m going to polish the kitchen counters today - they’ve been neglected too long. I may push the vacuum cleaner around a bit, too.
Last night, I dreamed about a kid who worked for me in the Navy. I haven’t seen him in 35 years and haven’t thought about him in ages - not since I came across an old photo some time back. I remember wondering in the dream if he’d recognize me, and of course, he looked just the same as he did way back then. It’s weird to imagine the 20-something I knew as a 50-something now!
Stranger, still, to realize that some of the kids I used to babysit are grandparents now…
Didja hear about the butcher who backed into his meat grinder?
Her got a little behind in his work.
Didja hear about his female customer who tried to help him & ended up backing into the same meat grinder?Disaster!
A cold 27 degrees when I went to the park. But the sun is shining and it will get up to 46 today.
I did something somewhat stupid at the park today. When I got there one of the irkers was there and I asked him when the water would be shut off. I wanted to know so I know when I have to start carrying water with me. He looks surprised and said, ‘You mean it’s still on! It was supposed to be turned off last week!’. I guess it will be turned off now.
Better they shut it off though than to have the pipes burst and then we’d probably have no water next summer.
Friend2 called me last night, after I picked up groceries, to tell me that she can’t make it again tomorrow. She has too much to do, and I know her job is super busy and stressed this weekend through next weekend, and she cooks for Thanksgiving. Although this year she says she isn’t inviting anybody over, just cooking for her immediate family. That will probably change.
Anyway, now she is coming next Sunday.
So I have to go through the stuff I bought for tomorrow and decide what to freeze, what will keep for a week, and what has to be used.
And call friend1 to let her know that friend2 won’t be picking her up.
Cold. Brrrr. Cat’s attached to me as soon as their breakfast and ablutions were done. Second phase of the big clean-up needs to start, soon. And the fridge needs going through. As soon as I can get the pile o’ cats off’n my lap.
Don’t judge but, I ate banana pudding for breakfast. So far so good. But I’m gonna be hungry way before lunchtime.
Speaking of dreams, i dreamed I was shopping at a Pet smart and ran into Howie Mandel (sp). He told me all about his Siamese cat. Weird. I have no memory of ever thinking about him awake and I don’t know if he has a cat or not.
Hope y’all stay warm and have a good day!
Glad you had good dreams, Becks and FCM; mine have faded from memory already.
Sari, if you hadn’t said something, someone else would have; and like yo say, better that than a busted pipe.
In the great Macaroni debate, I fall firmly on the “it’s pasta” side.
Stayed in bed until 8am, need to get presentable here in a bit and find sustenance. Rain is supposed to go away, but still pretty damp-looking out. We shall see.
Third load in the washer, second in the dryer, first stowed away. And half of the kitchen counters have been cleaned with the granite cleaner. I also emptied the water out of the ice maker and I dumped in some vinegar - we’ve got semi-hard well water here. I’ll also need to clean the critter fountain. Neither of those chores are difficult, but both are messy.
