I think they screwed over the same other team twice. That’s the team that U-Turned them.
I don’t remember the season or team other than one of them was a blonde girl from Kentucky, I think, but it reminded of the team that walked into someone’s house and just started painting the walls. The wrong house.
ETA: A little Googling tells me it was Steve and Allie of season 16:
Bahrain was seriously underwhelming. Except for the always-boring find-the-object, the tasks were interesting enough but they were all Route Info. Just go there and do the thing. There were absolutely no decisions to be made. Coupled with the missing passport, the whole thing was just a snooze-fest.
Thailand was much better. Great tasks, interesting decisions. Plus the return of the gross food challenge. Glad this was a non-elimination leg. We get to see my favorite team for another week.
I wonder if the fact that they knew Ocean Spray was out made them change the Detour/Roadblock to just straight forward tasks just to get the leg over with. The carry some logs task felt like a detour choice and the milk a camel task felt like a roadblock.
Is this the first time that someone lost their passport and was able to get a replacement before the leg was over?
Edit: I really wish Big Brother girl had chosen to do the gross food task.
Heh…we were hoping Henry would eat, just so Evan had to wear the scorpions. Can’t stand her…we’re mostly on Team Free Henry! ![]()
I’m surprised how well the Ocean team girl reacted to her boyfriend losing his passport. After all the whining she did earlier on in the race, I expected an epic meltdown. I’m not sorry to see them go.
Jessica was hilarious when she was standing there with the scorpions on her. My husband and I kept cracking up at her squeals. I love that she admitted she was completely useless that leg and gave all the credit to her partner. At least she realizes it.
Team Yale had to eat their words a little bit at the elephant detour. Yes, we all know how smart you are, you don’t have to tell us every leg of the race.
The second half was really fun to watch. The first half was kind of strange with no detour or roadblock, just task after task.
The Big Brother Gal did not know what a “hyman” during the Big Brother Game.
Now she was think the camels that they were milking had testicles.
Hermaphrodite Camels! (BandName)
When Alex was eating the frog and said something about the bones, my first thought was “if they took the bones out it wouldn’t be crunchy!”
I didn’t really like Team Indy early on, but they’re growing on me.
I feel the same about Team Indy. In fact, they are now my favorites, I really enjoy watching them race and they seem to be enjoying it.
Conor on Team Indy is hilarious.
Is Conor the loud one? His yelling got annoying during the frog challenge, but I also feel like he probably only yelled a couple times and the editors looped it.
I’m pretty sure that’s all the producers’ doing. Try to sum up a team with one attribute and have them constantly refer to it over and over again to pound it into the audience’s skulls. So you get Yale only talking about being smart, you get Ocean Rescue only talking about being engaged after nine years, etc.
I think this also pops up with how much they asked the teams about Ocean Rescue being left behind. Did we really need to have multiple teams saying variations of “so yeah, he lost his passport, they didn’t get on the plane…” both when they got on the plane, and then again in the car ride afterwards?
I’m not too surprised by the final four teams, except for maybe Indy Car… they never struck me as super competent but they have been coming on strong.
Welp, 3rd season in a row where I’m disappointed in the winner.
Same here. My wife hated them from the start. I tried to give them a fair like but she was just so damn annoying. Always bitching and complaining. And it seemed like she didn’t do anything to help them.
I’m sure I’m wrong, but it seemed like this season they didn’t have to switch out challenges as much. If she had done more challenges they would have never made it.
I agree. The guy did most of the challenges, it seemed to me. I would’ve preferred any of the remaining teams over team BB. And I’m sure when they replay it, Henry will be kicking himself for having gotten the plane right, then changing it before having it checked.
In doing that task, I would’ve put all the pieces on the ground and figured it out that way, rather than swap them out on the plane.
StG
I’m not happy they won, but I’m not disappointed either. I really didn’t care much for Evan.
Why was the last challenge so hard? The props had the same symbol on it, seems you could start from there and build until you ran out of options. Instead they just seemed put it all together and look at it.
I thought this season over all was a good one. The only thing I didn’t really like was the head-to-head stuff, but mostly because the people who came in last were gone right away. It might have been better if it was at the beginning or middle to allow people to catch up.
Count me as a ‘me too.’ I would have been happy with three of the last four teams being the winner. So naturally…
But I was talking with a neighbor this morning, and she said she’d looked it up. This series had eight road blocks (prior to the final) and the other three teams had done four apiece. What surprised me was that Cole had only done 5 to Jessica’s 3, so not really all that unbalanced. In my mind, he had ‘carried’ her to a vastly greater extent.
And, of course, Jessica in fact was the one who solved the final puzzle, so you’ve got to give her credit for that, even if it was mostly by luck.
One thing that puzzled me was that none of the teams went about it in what I’d consider the reasonable way: lay out ALL the pieces in a row where you could look at them simultaneously and fiddle with them that way. (If I use THIS wing it covers legs 2 and 8, then I have to use THAT tail fin in order to get a leg 4, but then there’s no pieces left with leg 6…so obviously that’s the wrong wing to use.) Figure it all out and only then waste the time to insert the pieces into the plane.
Maybe something in the extended rules didn’t allow that. <shrug>
Well shit. Stupid Henry, solving the plane first but not thinking of getting it checked.
Once again, some great tasks that both reflect the city they’re in as well as allowing teams that were behind to catch up. Perhaps one of the best seasons of the race. Except for the stupidly-placed Head to Head challenges, it was almost a perfect season.
It was a little unclear, but were there some symbols that were wrong? So it wasn’t
just a matter of figuring out where the duplicates were.
I think some of the symbols they didn’t get, I don’t think they were wrong. I understood it to be 12 parts of the plane, but only 6 were needed. Each part had 2 symbols on it and you had to have 1 picture for each place.
