the because im up and i can MMP

Back from breakfast, killing time till Roxy’s swim lesson. Once we get home, I’ve got to take trash and recycling to the convenience center, then do laundry. Exciting times at FairyChatEstates!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasting, towels in teh wash and puppy crate cleaned. Not much going on today short of Tar-jay and dog park runs.

The swim class was interesting - it was for 6 months thru 3 years, and mostly it was getting used to being in water, going under water, blowing bubbles, stuff like that. Roxy wasn’t much in the mood today - daughter said she was tired.

There was one girl there - one of the older ones - who looked terrified. She clung to her dad the entire time. How do you deal with a kid who’s that afraid of water? I can’t even imagine. I hope she learns to relax eventually. Poor kid.

We stopped for a few groceries on the way home. Since being back, I’ve cleaned the critter fountain, started my first load of laundry, loaded the car for the convenience center, and had lunch. As soon as my first load is done, I’ll start the second, then head out with the trash and recycling.

Busy busy…

I am technically awake. It was a long night. Akiko-pup got me up every hour all night to let her out. It was raining and last night she apparently made the life choice that going out in the rain is Very Bad. So she wouldn’t go into the rain. She would just stand there by the door and look miserable. Then, at 3:30am, just to drive home the point that rain was unacceptable, she peed on my bed. She has been housebroken for a while, so this was a shock. In so many ways. I mean, there’s never really a good time for your dog to pee on your bed, but 3:30 am while you’re sleeping in it seems particularly bad.

Today I will finish the laundry and keep working on packing. The movers come Monday.

Howdy Y’all! I survived Vestry retreat. It was actually a good day. I was nice even and helped get things cleanded up afterwards. Also made sure the Parish Hall is set up for First Sunday Brunch tomorrow. I put a ham in the slow cooker this mornin’ for that. ‘Tis all done and coolin’ down and shall get sliced soon as it’s cool enough. Sup will be via forage when hongry.

Sunny poor Akiko pup! I would imagine she’s all anxious what with the movin’ and all as well as not likin’ the rain.

CupCakes I eagerly await the report of the Bishop ordination. I imagine a very looooooooooooooong service.

Assuming it’s over now, at what point did he start moving diagonally?

I’ll get my coat.

BWAHAHAHA!!! Cracked me up with that one, Nut!!!

Laundry is nearly done and supper will be soup, just because. Almost time for evening chillage. It’s been a busy day.

Worked, came home. Watching all sorts of hockey today. Also learned a new mixed metaphor from the college hockey guy. “the floodgates collapsed”

Can’t, I took it to the pawn shop.:stuck_out_tongue:

Our ice maker isn’t working. Dammit. Time to do some on-line research, as apparently appliance repair folks don’t exist around here.

Dammit.

Step one: defrost the ice maker. I have had them jam, then return to life after warming up.

Hair dryer time.

yesterday was pay my money to everyone else day other wise it was dull except for the gym …nephew spent the night we watched you tube til almost 2 am and and had dominos …wish their pasta was better ……… wish hed like the local place that has decent lasagna

it did pour for about an hour about 2:30 and drizzled of and on the rest but today is partly sunny as its come through the gloom off and on ….yet still tryin to rain

we slept in today and paying more bills ATM looks to be totally dull this eve ………

Nut, that always reminds me of this picture (from England, no less): Reddit - Dive into anything

Howdy all. Did grocery shopping and bill paying this morning and have pretty much vegetated the rest of the day. Did order a big can of popcorn from the local High School band, so I’ve got my good deed for the month out of the way nice and early. In the 40’s outside and rain is predicted for tonight and tomorrow. Oh joy.

Sunny, doesn’t everybody pee the bed when they get anxious…:o:D:D

FCM, some kids just take time. I worked with 4 year olds in indoor soccer this year, some got right into it, others took a little time to warm up, and at least one never did get involved and refused to join any activities except with his mom or dad. Hopefully it’ll get better.

All y’all take care now.

swampie, it was quite a shindig. I got there just before 9:00AM, which was when we could enter the sanctuary, and found about two-thirds of the pews were roped off for folks involved in the service, or invited guests. The wide side aisles had extra chairs set up but I just barely managed to get a set in the pews. Of course in our gathering hall there was a screen set up, so most ordinary folks attending sat there.

The service lasted about2-1/2 hours, with all the ceremonial functions. AFter the new bishop was consecrated and invested with a cross, a stole, chausable, crook, ring and mitre, she was then conducted to the cathedra, her seat, and the mitre helped pick her out as she is a short little lady. As a child she attended services here, as this is where her parents were married, so it makes a nice connection. The music was varied and quite wonderful. One Scriptural lesson was read in Swahili, and one in French, as the diocese has mission connections in Kenya and Haiti.

I have never seen the cathedral quite so packed and our interim dean, Mother Nicolette, made a joke about finally getting her wish to be cited for having the room capacity limit exceeded.
It was a shame the Presiding Bishop Curry was not doing the sermon, but it was nice for the bishop of Iowa, where our new primate comes from, to preach.

The above is an article in our Topeka paper about the event. It was livestreamed too so that shut ins or those who could not be there in person could still watch.

Tomorrow morning attendance is likely to be sparse, a pity for Bishop Bascom on her first full day, but the weather predictions are saying 4 to 8 inches of snow, and freezing rain.

Aww…poor Akiko-pup. Sunny, When we have lengthy periods of rain, Nelson will jump off the right side of the stoop and do his business under the eaves. Keeps us both dry, it does. :stuck_out_tongue: Akiko-pup will find her own way.

I got a few things done today, made the Tar-jay et al run, took Nelson to the dog park for a few minutes, then let the Captain cook supper. We took the drive thru at the new one in town (the old one was backed up and when that happens, they’ve been known to take 20 minutes or more for “fast” food) and they had a treat for him as well as getting me through in about three minutes. Even at five miles further than the old one, I spent less time in and out.

We’re finally working with my daughter on her fear of the dark.

If we were all up in bed on the second floor, she would not come back down to the first floor by herself. Also she would not go up to the third-floor by herself.

We have been working on her slowly going into the dark by herself, without her it getting overwhelming.

We started off by having her go up 10 stairs by herself and staying there for 30 seconds. The next day she went up 10 stairs by herself and stayed for one minute. The next day she went up 13 stairs and stayed for 30 seconds.

I learn this technique on helping me deal with my anxieties and my PTSD.

It seems like for that girl, the class is far too advanced. They need to take up way slower.

So I watched college hockey on Youtube, and State won. Then I watched the NWHL ,and the Whale lost.:frowning: Then the Canes tried to lose, but changed their mind. Made mushroom ands asparagus stirfry for dinner, after I calmed down.

Sunny, Gordie once held it for 19 hours, because the ground was damp, and he refused to go.:dubious:

Baker, I went to the then Bishop’s 20th Anniversary of Ordination Mass in Fayetteville. But the Coliseum marque read “Catholic Seminar”:dubious::smack:

Terrible night - I kept waking and my usual falling-back-to-sleep tricks weren’t working. So I’m up. Critters have been tended to. I’m breakfasting. After the household is up, I’m going to empty the freezer and try the hair dryer trick - that makes the most sense. After that, who knows…

Happy Sunday. Yeah.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 62 Amurrkin out and cloudy (well, dark) with a predicted high of 77 and rain/tstorms/ apocalypse forecasted for the day. Tomorrow’s high will be 60. Mother nature is apparently all willy-nilly with her meds. The big plan of the day is deheathenization followed by first Sunday brunch. Beyond that sloth shall ensue.

CupCakes I imagine it was quite the shindig. Sometimes it’s just fun to high church it up ain’t it!

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, purtification for deheathenization must also commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Mornin’ (barely) all!

I knew which picture that would be without looking Metal Mouse

The rain’s falling sideways today; one of those days I don’t feel bad being still in jammies at midday. Which is handy, 'cos that was definitely the plan. I’ll do a bit more home-irk and probably defilthify the place a bit later, but today is my designated day off, dammit.
