The Big Bang Theory 5/5--The Wildebeest Implementation

It occured to me yesterday that AFF and Sheldon can be compared to Data and Spock repectively. Both are highly intelegent & rely on detatched logic, however Sheldon is content to be this way and, like Spock, counts a point of pride, while Amy, like Data, wants to be more like thoes around her, more “human” if you will. Am I overthinking this?
Anyway, I loved this episode. It was freeking hillarious.
(and I know someone who already invented 3 player chess!)

But does it have a Serpent and an Old Lady?

I think that as the Amy character goes on, it’s clear she’s really not at all like Sheldon in this regard. She WANTS to be part of the Penny-Bernadette group and do “girl things” with them. True, she’s clueless in how exactly to do that, but she’s doing it because she wants to, not because she feel she has to. She’s also going to get Sheldon to do the no pants dance sooner or later too, as she’s shown way more interest in that area than Sheldon ever has.

So does Raj have to register as a sex offender now?

Nah. Astrophysicists getting naked in a Starbucks is the norm for Pasadena.

Probably, but you’re in good company.

I like your analogy and I think it fits well.

I loved the episode. Raj stripping off his clothes had me in stitches.

The scene with Leonard trying to find the right word, befuddled, had me chuckling and then when it gets brought back around at the end of episode I thought was funny.

That Pasadena Starbucks looks an awful lot like a Malibu Starbucks.

I didn’t care terribly much for this episode to be honest – I’m just checking in to boast that I actually have a three-person chess set (knights close to the center are horrible things) (though I’m not exactly certain on its current whereabouts).

However, I do like the development of Amy; she started out as a carbon copy female Sheldon, but is really growing into her own. Last week’s drinking and hangover also was hilarious.

Oh and, what did Sheen say about Lorre? I have largely ignored that whole trainwreck, but I was also puzzled by the vanity card…

Sheen made a slur that “Chaim Levine” had changed his name to Chuck Lorre. Stupid considering:

Lorre’s original name was Charles Michael Levine.

Sheen’s original name was Carlos Irwin Estévez.

Obviously a case of the (Latino) pot calling the (Jewish) kettle ashamed of his ethic origin.

I agree Amy started out as a Sheldon clone and then progressed. I think the development that Amy took is how Sheldon should’ve progressed as well.

The episode wasn’t that funny but it was above average. I agree with the poster who said, there are a lot of characters in the show now, and they’re all strong. You could easily have the girls do one show and the guys do another and still have two strong shows.

And Amy should’ve known cheetahs are not strong enough to take on full grown wildebeasts. Cheetahs only attack very small newborn wildebeasts as these are huge animals, they are targets for lions, hyenas and crocs

There are many three-handed chess boards around. I recall that two different ones came out at the same time.

Of course, the other ones I’ve seen don’t invent their own pieces. Sheldon might be inspired by Chinese Chess, which has different pieces from Western Chess, including Cannon. It also has special rules because of the “River” that runs through the center of the Board.

The increasing lunacy and creativity of Sheldon’s chess is what makes the last scene.

She did say Bernadette was a tiny, tiny wildebeest.

And the Title of the show could also refer to Raj’s “Wild Beast.” After seeing the title of the episode and Raj’s tighty whities in a promo, what else could be inferred?

And like at least one of the downtown Seattle Starbucks.

I thought it started developing along the lines of some more recent chess variants that I’d heard of. I knew it was jumping the shark when he introduced the piece that has a one-third chance of dying each time it moved.

NO proper chess variant introduces a random factor.

I wonder if Sheldon would appreciate my idea for Quantum Chess. There’s a half-square offset between the two sides of the board, and any piece crossing that border begins must collapse its waveform from a two-square area into a single square to complete the move.

Fantastic episode, these last two have been some of the best I’ve ever seen.

I know the character is bland, but writers tend to bring out the skills of the cast. Is is possible Aarti Mann (Priya) is just a bad actress? She really just seems to be reading and theres no comedic timing at all.

Sadly, no

Aw, I thought the actor looked pretty good. Nice shape, had just the right amount of snuggly on his belly.

…How about Fischer random? :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, I used to have a chess program capable of playing a whole host of variants (might’ve been ChessV). But in the end, it just proved to be many more ways for me to suck than I cared to explore…

(Oh, and thanks for the catch-up, Annie!)
