I was hoping he’d try to gnaw his arm off.
That’s kind of an instinctive move, not a learned response.
I know, Ranger Jeff. They lost a good chance for the two couples to hit it off and Emily’s (hopeful) inclusion in the group to develop naturally. Maybe the show will revisit the macabre and use it.
Other than that it was pretty strong. And I thought Sheldon DID look hot.
Spoiler for future developments:
Emily isn’t going anywhere, at least for a bit. She’s listed as being in the next couple of episodes.
My layman’s understanding is that it doesn’t produce provable hypothesis.
Episode was funny but I was disappointed by the secret once it was revealed I thought t was built up so much it would be something better.
They could move string theory over to the Philosophy Department.
- “Hey, look, my idea has an internal logical consistency!”*
So Howard went to spin class to gawk at women, right? I mean it was never said, but that is something Howard would do. I assumed the thing he did would be tied to that, like he was behind her in spin class and he was basically caught staring at the ass, not cycling at all.
Howard just has on-going problems with toilets. First Emily’s, then the ISS, then having to clean the ISS toilet while he was there…
Howard didn’t go to spin class. But if he had I’m sure it would have been to stare at/hit on women.
I figured the thing with Howard would be a relic from his creepy womanizing days, like he went on a blind date with the gal and went all Wolowitz on her and scarred her for life. I was a little let down that it was just toilet business. Although “Clogzilla” IS pretty funny.
I still wish they’d bring Nancy back. I mean really bring her back, instead of just talking about her.
Or at least ones that we current have the capacity to test.
Demonstrating extra spatial dimensions would be a big deal for it. The LHC is being used to look for evidence of such. And so far it has found none and has put some pretty strict bounds on the size of any such dimensions if they exist. The next best hope for evidence of extra dimensions will be the ILC. OTOH string theory differed from traditional inflation models in that it did not predict gravity waves in the cosmic background radiation. Hence Sheldon’s angst that such have now been seen.
To the degree that string theory can be tweaked to also include those waves it loses its credibility as a predictive theory.
I also thought the Howard bit would be more skeevy than Clogzilla. Nice move by the writers though to have a turnaround in which Raj is laughing with a woman at Howard after his worry about and past experience of Howard mocking him. Something more skeevy would have gone beyond that being able to laugh at him so it makes sense that they did not do that I guess.
When he first exhibited jealousy I thought it was going to be a battle of confidence between theoretical and experimental physics. Experimental getting the glory for proving the work of theoretical.
Who’s Nancy?
I think Lucy was meant.
Yeah, I thought that part of the plot was really weak.
Yep, sorry.
I agree with Amy (& I do play on the same team as Jim Parsons ;)).
What team is that, exactly?
I guess I’m in the minority. I didn’t like it. I don’t find drunk people doing stupid things to be funny. I also don’t like Kripke scenes.
I’m mixed about Sheldon taking his advice from Cosmo. The obsession with a single source makes sense, but I just don’t see him doing anything but ridiculing the magazine. ‘I may be quitting String Theory, but I didn’t get a lobotomy!’
I thought most of the double date was good.
