The Big Bang Theory, April 24, 2014 -- "The Anything Can Happen Recurrence"

Season ender: Emily and Raj finally get it on. Emily goes all preying mantis on him and carves him into filets for the freezer. That way we get rid of both her and him. The next season Penny gets an offer for millions to play Emily in the TV movie.

I guess my sense of humor is different than the majority here, then … I laughed more at this episode than I have in any for quite some time. Seems like almost every scene had something that made me laugh.

Well, drat. I started the thread and then I got busy with other stuff and missed the show. Frustrating!

It’s up on the CBS website.

I think you mean Penny. Otherwise, I like your line of thinking. Penny has become boring and that would spice things up nicely. Seeing all the nerds fighting for Penny’s attention would be good for Leonard, or at least funny.

As for the relationship between Penny and Sheldon - I thought it was obvious that Penny is Sheldon’s surrogate mother. Just like his real mom, Penny is slightly homespun, able to deflect his crap and can steer him in ways that the others can’t.

I think my favorite line of the episode was “It smells like somebody set a hippie on fire!”

Very mediocre episode in my book. Wasn’t horrible, but wasn’t awesome, either. Not sure what the point of the fortune teller is. If Sheldon bones Amy and his life gets better, they’ve pretty much destroyed the Science! premise of the show. If he doesn’t bone her and his life gets worse, same deal. So I guess he won’t bone her and his life will stay the same. Yawn.

Don’t really like the notion that Raj can only seem to date broken women, either. He’s a weird little dude, but not that bad now that he can talk to women without being drunk. Let him have a normal girl for a change.

Somewhere I read that the actress who plays Emily was going to appear in several episodes, so I’m guessing she and Raj will be a thing for the rest of this season, at least. In a disturbing way, Emily, Bernadette, and Amy have, in a professional sense, things in common. How Emily will handle Sheldon would be a big test for her to pass. And I wonder how Emily would fit into the girl’s pecking order. It’d be interesting to see someone challenge Penny for alpha female.

And why the hell didn’t Raj call Yvette the Vet?

Maybe because the actress who played her hasn’t been available? Checking her IMDB page shows that she has been busy making movies.

because he led the phone call with a “yvette the vet” joke. i’m very sure she was not amused.

You people have a very loose definition of “broken.” Just sayin’.

Lucy was pretty broken and I’m glad she’s gone. I don’t think there’s anything “broken” about Emily though.

She gets turned on by splatter movies, and has otherwise indicated seriously creepy tastes. That suggests a few wild cards in her deck.

Her “I’m a dermatologist because I like to cut people” joke probably would have had me on one knee with ring-in-hand three seconds later. Some people love that kind of humor. I should know, it’s one of the reasons I love my wife.

She hates most horror movies (except for Evil Dead) though.

Just the fact that she gave Raj a second chance after his first impression says she’s a risk-taker, in a “let’s take the shortcut” way, not “let’s buy stocks instead of putting the money in a savings account way.”

A pretty mediocre episode IMO.

Also the ending seemed really rushed it just kinda…happened.

I did like that Wednesday is “Anything Can Happen Day.” I think the characters are too young to know the source of that, but my wife and I loved it.

What IS the source? Don’t leave us hanging. I’m 36 fwiw.

If they had to name 3 Mouseketeers, they’d name Britney Spears, Christine Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake. :smack:
