"The Big Bang Theory" Moves To Thursdays

TBBT loses out to Community maybe I’ll watch it online. I just hope Community can survive the compitition.

Great - there won’t be gratuitous fat jokes in THAT.

Or maybe they’ll go the other way and make fun of fad diets and exercise freaks*, sorta like what Married, With Children did for successful parents and precocious kids.

*As opposed to healthy eating and reasonable exercise.

I hate this show with the fury of ten thousand white hot suns, so I chose “No answer/other”.

People admit to that all the time. We’ve even linked to that South Park episode that did not get put up on the official site.

Anyways, as far as I’m concerned, they offered the show, putting it over the air for free. They can’t whine if I timeshift it by using a VCR or DVR, so why should they whine if I timeshift it online?

(The same applies to cable shows, but only if you get that channel.)

Heck, we know CBS doesn’t care, as they allow Malinky to put up the Late Late Show with their blessing.

I chose “No Answer/Other” to represent another “Meh, I DVR” vote. I’m more bothered by Survivor being moved than anything.

I’m VERY happy since this returns my Nerd Hour to me (Jeopardy! on at 7:30 and then right after BBT!) I was so pissed when they switched How Moronic Is This NPH Vehicle with BBT.

I’m still using an older single-tuner TiVo. If there are two shows I want to watch, and I’m home at the time, I can TiVo one and watch the other in real time on the TV auxiliary feed. If I’m not home and I absolutely must see both shows, I can crank up the old VCR (this also allows me to watch a third show if I so choose).

Every now and then I consider upgrading to a multi-tuner DVR, but I’ve found that these conflicts happen so seldom that it’s hardly worth it. The VCR has been dormant since the season premiere of 24 was on against Chuck and my wife was working late, and I can’t even remember the last time there were 3 shows at the same time I wanted to see.

So, bottom line, Community will get TiVo’d every week, and if Mrs. Wheelz and I are home and ready to sit and watch by 7:00 (central), we’ll probably watch Big Bang; and if not, we’ll miss it and not be too broken up about it.

I’m sure we’ll upgrade the TiVo someday, but right now I just can’t justify the expense over an occasional sitcom episode.

Yes, because they are morons. The smart thing to do would be to make sure that you don’t pit similar shows against each other, to maximise your number of viewer-hours instead of fighting over scraps.

I posted about it in more detail in this thread, but they do seem to be going w/ easy fat jokes.

Chuck Lorre responds.

Laugh tracks never bother me if I am laughing.

Wow. Then let me amend my statement:

I’d watch it if they didn’t have the actors pause after every.single.line to [del]instruct[/del] allow the audience to laugh. It’s a funny show - but the director needs to get shot in the head for single-handedly destroying the flow of the show. Sorry for the hijack - back the scheduling discussion.

OT1H, I don’t think it will do as well on Thursday, and I hope that if it doesn’t that they will move it back to Monday rather than canceling it.

OTOH, of the past and future Monday comedy segment, I have only and will likely only watch HIMYM and BBT. If I had my wish, they would air together rather than taking up a whole two hours of tivo space for a mere hour of shows. So it will be nice to be able to watch two hour dramas at 9 rather than 1 hour drama and 1 half hour comedy. OTOOH, my tivo is already full on Thursdays, so I don’t know what I’ll be giving up to watch it then.

Also, Hawaii 5-0 yay!

Idiots. I’ll watch it because I Tivo it, but I also record Community and I hope there isn’t a third program that conflicts because my Tivo will only record two things at once.

Somewhat oddly, in 1979 the #1 show in the nation was Laverne & Shirley. ABC moved it from Tuesdays at 7:30pm, following Happy Days, to Thursdays at 7pm. (Times are Central) It went from the #1 show to #39.
