The Big Bang Theory, Season 10, Episode 2, September 26, 2016 -- "The Military Miniaturization"

I am starting this thread in anticipation of tonight’s episode.

Sure hope this episode keeps up the streak of doing the impossible, being the worst episode EVER!

The standard gets higher and higher with each episode!

Maybe I’ll just catch arerun from season 2. I’ve heard all those lines a dozen times but they’re still more amusing than last week’s.
Please let the visitor be Howard’s dad. Please let Sheldon be funny and not just pathetic. Please tell me there are no more “Raj isn’t gay” jokes.

Liked it a million times better than the season opener. Wonder why the show is cutting Raj out (or down). Penny is looking so much more mature these days. I like this version much better than retarded Penny. Also, is Amy getting all the laugh lines now or is it that I’m really enjoying her delivery?

BTW, Bernie was right. Only a lunatic goes to McDonald’s and gets fruit.

A nice recovery from the season opener. It was great seeing the guys nerding out over the optical scanner. It did seem like they were setting up an excuse for showing less Raj.

Well, how would they include an astrophysicist in the project? Maybe they got a lot of negative feedback over the ridiculous three-way girlfriend phone call, and the whole

ETA: continued next post, because a cat just posted for me.

ridiculous girl thing Raj was having, that they’re going to do some better relationship for him.

Or maybe the actor is tired of the work it takes to do a sitcom every week.

I think this was better than the season opener. Bernie’s story may have been the B-plot, but it was very real for a lot of women.

Mayim Bialik is far-and-away the best actor on the show.

Yeah, she’s great!

She and Jim Parsons are the only ones who have really created characters with mannerisms and vocal patterns and ways of walking, etc., that are significantly different from the actor’s own. Of course, the writers helped a lot with that.

The best part was watching Sheldon Cooper not speak. Jim Parsons is one genius at physical comedy.

What does Bernadette do that warrants her having a bigger office than Milburn Drysdale? Seems for the scientific world, that is way more than what reality would allow.

The Sheldon not speaking thing was a riot. Love his reaction at the Death Star from Star Trek line.

It’s been shown that everyone at the pharmaceutical company is scared of Bernadette and they cater to her every whim. Hence the big office, but why was she so scared about admitting she’s pregnant? Both legally and the scared shitless factors would keep them from discriminating against her.

I loved watching him in that scene. Hilarious!

Still not up to the standard they’ve set over previous seasons, but light-years better than the season opener.

I disagree. I thought episode 1 this season was better. Sheldon has so many classic lines “your genitals are a joy to behold” and “STDs are skyrocketing among the elderly” and “did you defile my mother last night?”

I found the Bernadette wanting to keep her pregnancy secret plot was nonsensical. She knows people will find out eventually, it just doesn’t make sense to get upset over it coming out.

On the Penny front, her hair looks much better this year and she looks nice in business wear, so much better than the grunge we’re used to seeing from her.

It really seems like they don’t know what to do with Raj. His encounter with the colonel was classic Raj, but on the whole he’s starting to look like a fifth wheel in the cast.

No, they explained it -

“I’m for a major immunotherapy study, and if they find out I’m pregnant they might give it to someone else.”

Presumably once she’s given the study, it would be much harder to take it away from her.

Yes I got that, but really, it doesn’t seem like something that someone with a PhD would say. Withholding information from your employer even for a short term doesn’t seem terribly ethical to me.

Are you saying that pregnancy is an inconvenience to employers?

Seriously, women choose when to tell their boss they’re pregnant based on lots of things. I don’t see anything unethical about withholding the information until a moment that works for them.

Regarding revealing a pregnancy - I was interviewing for a job while pregnant, tho not far enough along to be showing. Once I had the job, I had to figure out when and how to drop the baby bomb, especially since I was working at a college and my daughter was due at the beginning of the semester. I kinda did the opposite of the BBT plot - I casually mentioned it to the office big mouth. Problem solved.
