Big Bang Theory - "The Conference Valuation"

Seven episodes left and they laid this turd on everybody. Forget laughs - we didn’t even smile once during the show. I guess they are going for the “make it so bad no-one will miss it” approach.

No, it wasn’t that great of an episode. I did enjoy Amy’s manipulation of Sheldon regarding the babies, though.

I thought Amy was going to reveal that she was pregnant. They’re probably saving that for the series finale, though.

Agreed. The rest of it hardly worth watching. What really made that scene was her throwing her successful manipulation in Raj’s face.

I still have a hard time believing that Bernadette is such a big power player in her career. From waitress to PhD to big pharma exec seems like a fast track.

Worst eppy for some time for me. The baby experiments were mildly amusing, Amy had by far the best lines of the night.

From her very first appearance Bernie was on a PhD track. She waitressed to make ends meet while she finished her dissertation. Then she got head-hunted by the pharma company, got involved in some very profitable research, and scared the crap out of her boss(es). Fast, but not impossible. She probably has some substantial blackmail material on the company as well, based on some of her partial stories.

I liked it. I think the above comment is going to come true about Amy being pregnant. Would be the perfect reason for Amy to get the book for Sheldon so he can start getting used to it

I especially liked the part where Penny was so assertive at her meeting.

Yeah, Penny’s pretty hot when she’s bein’ bossy like that.

I can see someone complaining to HR, especially since she made someone cry. I’ve seen that happen IRL.

I think it would be nice if Penny jumped ship to another company. It might increase her confidence, that she has really earned her position.

Mayim Bialik is by far the best actor on this show.

I kept waiting for Leonard to ask who wrote the book Sheldon and Amy brought. Beverly as the author would have been unrealistic, but maybe she could have been named in the acknowledgements, or written the foreword, or something (back cover blurb, maybe?).

My daughter has that baby-experiment book. It’s not just a plot device - she recognized it on the show. And yes, she’s experimented on/with her daughter.

If we’re going to count the actors who appear occasionally and not just the ones who on the show every episode, Laurie Metcalf is also a great actor.

I agree that Bialik is the best actor on the core seven. She delivers most her lines flawlessly. Are we going to get a “Old Sheldon” spinoff?

Metcalf’s acting has been terrible in the reboot of Roseanne (and the reboot of the reboot, The Conners).

In the original, I though Metcalf was the best actor on the show, but she (and Goodman) acting on the show is below average.

I haven’t seen the new Roseanne or The Conners, so I can’t comment.

Christine Baranski is note perfect in her role too.

When Bernadette interrupted Penny’s meeting with the rival executive, I really thought she was there to manipulate him into raising his offer.
Turns out, no, she wasn’t looking out for her friend. In fact, she was actively preventing her from making more money. Bernadette’s not a very nice person.

Huh? How’d you come to this conclusion? She definitely was trying to get Penny more money and it was Penny who told her to stop trying, she was staying.

If that’s what they were going for, it was clumsily written. It looked as if they were going down that road, and yes, it was Penny who declined. But then Bernadette seemed like she couldn’t get her out of the room fast enough, and she wouldn’t tell her how much it was. And Danny never did raise the offer.

Didn’t crack a smile in this episode.
