The Big Bang Theory, Season 10, Episode 8 (November 10, 2016) -- "The Brain Bowl Incubation"

I am starting this thread in anticipation of tonight’s episode.

My favorite episode since. . . I don’t remember. I am intrigued by Raj’s new love interest. Sheldon and Amy were hysterical. A ratpack Peewee Herman. Ha!

Seductive Sheldon was more fun than Drunk Sheldon. Some good laugh out loud moments. Raj and the janitor has a little appeal, but the show would be better off if he got drafted by the Indian Army and left. The cast is just too big and he doesn’t carry his share of the load.

The last couple of episodes have been far better than in a long time. Getting the science back in the show was a crucial step. Limiting the screen time of half the characters to let the others have real stories has been great as well. How did this happen partway through a season? It’s like they got feedback and acted on it.

Fun episode. Mexican/Cuban, Pakistani/Indian… Now you know how it feels.

And dropped some science on us. Entertaining and educational.
Title: Skin cells reprogrammed into brain cells
Date: June 7, 2012
Source: Gladstone Institutes
Summary: Scientists have for the first time transformed skin cells – with a single genetic factor – into cells that develop on their own into an interconnected, functional network of brain cells. The research offers new hope in the fight against many neurological conditions because scientists expect that such a transformation – or reprogramming – of cells may lead to better models for testing drugs for devastating neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease.

This show really needs a scene where Sheldon is hiding and someone flushes him out by tapping shave-and-a-haircut on the walls.

Another good line:

Sheldon: “I track your cycle. For the next 36 hours, you’re as fertile as a manure-covered wheat field.”
Amy: “Wow. I can actually feel the egg crawling its way back up.”

Good episode, but only 17:45 long. That’s a shit-ton of commercials.

Yeah, that was hilarious! Great episode!

No, they need more original jokes, they have enough rehashed ones already

It’s an interesting casting choice. Maria Canals Barrera, who plays Isabella, is 50 years old, to Kunal Nayyar’s 35. Granted, they’re not necessarily playing their ages, but the script did go out of its way to establish that Isabella has a 19-year-old son, so she is clearly meant to be notably older than Raj. That age difference could potentially give them some story possibilities, in addition to Raj’s discomfort with her job.

She also has some geeky credentials, having voiced Hawkgirl on the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited cartoons.

I echo Turek in saying that it was a good episode, but short. When Sheldon came in to dance the flamenco, I was shocked to look at the clock and see that it was almost 8:30. I thought that would be the next act, not the end tag. The final joke, Amy catching her breath outside the door and saying “That was close!”, was pretty good, though.

Well, you’d lampshade it, of course. Whoever was looking for Sheldon would say “I saw this trick in a movie once”; I’m thinking it would be Howard. And you wouldn’t want to see Jim Parsons’s face as he tried to stifle Sheldon’s desperate need to complete the “two bits”?

Until that bit, I was confused at Amy’s reluctance. Earlier in their relationship, she was eager to have sex with him.

THANK YOU! I knew I knew that voice…

I think she’d still be eager to have sex with normal Sheldon, but Sheldon as creepy seducer had the opposite effect on her. Rat-pack Peewee Herman. Heh.

He should just put one one of his old superhero T-shirts, take her for a beverage at the coffee house where they met, and tell her she’s the sexiest lady scientist in the world. But he’s too inept yet to realize what Amy wants.

Maybe, it’s just me but this show jumped the shark quite awhile ago.

I hope someone has the sense to cast Jim Parsons as the next James Bond.

I don’t think it was lack of desire to have sex woth Sheldon as much as it was a lack of desire to have a baby with Sheldon. “Let’s lower our underpants slightly and make a baby!”

No, I think she would love to have a baby with Sheldon. She just wants it to be part of a romantic pairing after they get married, not as a lab rat with forced breeding.

Yeah, I didn’t think tbe "at this moment " was necessary. Forgot SDMB is nitpick central.
