The Big Bang Theory, Season 12, Episode 14 (January 31, 2019) -- "The Meteorite Manifestation"

I am starting this thread in anticipation of tonight’s episode.

I think we can agree that we’re all rooting for Stuart.

Leonard’s eyes.

Well, that was fun! Loved seeing “Meteorite-possessed” Leonard attacking Burt, Raj, and Penny. Weird, wild stuff!

Only 10 more episodes. A Dope tradition is coming to an end.

It’s sorta sad to see this once-fantastic sitcom become so stale and lifeless. This season and the last are pale imitations of what it used to be.

Why don’t they do a Charlie Sheen and just replace Jim Parsons?

Losing Sheldon is a big improvement to the show and it needs new blood.

I don’t see the point. Everyone else is equally stale and/or objectionable. The stories ran their course a while back.

The show started breaking down when Sheldon started developing as a human being. Seinfeld knew better - no hugs, no growth.

See, I like that Sheldon is growing, in a way. But the episode was a big old meh.

Only 10 more times to say “that really sucked.”

Sometimes I grow off a show, but when I watch early TBBT season reruns, I still enjoy them. When it’s more recent reruns, I don’t like them. So I didn’t grow off this particular show. For me, it declined clearly. It’s not unwatchable, but if it were still going next year, I think it would be. I can suck it up for 10 more.

I can think of two positive things about this episode. The first was the joke that Sheldon showered at Howard and Bernadette’s because he touched the babies. The other thing is that Raj’s girlfriend/ex wasn’t in it.

After the Big Bang Theory goes off the air, what is going to be the impetus for many of SPMB dopers to stick ice picks in their ears?

There are so many really amazing sitcoms, and yet this one gets the ratings.

Sometimes I might laugh, but it’s rare.

Having said that, I still think a single-camera spin-off about Stuart and Denise would succeed.

One more thing: the promo for next week showed the Penny Skin Factor going up several notches.

The bit about Leonard getting pissy cause they didn’t want to use his laser was pretty lame. I liked the city clerk making the “zone zone” joke and then carping on his crabby coworker going through menopause.

If we had three channels, like we did 50 years ago, I can understand watching BBT and griping about it. But with hundreds of others channels available I just don’t understand so many posters on this board, continue watching it, and post on these threads on how bad it is.

Why do you jam ice picks in your ear? Because it feels so good when I stop!

Well Folks, 10 more episodes and for many contributors to these threads, it will FEEL SO GOOD.

It’s hope. It may not be rational exactly, but I keep hoping that they’ve just been marking time until the buildup starts to the great whizbang finale. I don’t want to miss the buildup, if there is one, so I keep checking in. And keep getting disappointed.

At this point, the best we can hope for is a Stuart & Denise spin-off, co-starring Burt. Howard and Bernie could drop in once or twice a season. Penny/Leonard move to London. Sheldon/Amy move I don’t care where. Raj dies in a dumpster fire. Bring in some of Stuart’s siblings.

Yeah, mostly bad episode. Penny didn’t even have any significant lines until the Leonard nightmare sequence and that wasn’t much. (And that whole bit just stunk of tired old sitcom.)

Stuart and Denise are a great pair. Best part of the episode by far. Bert is nicely used. A little bit is good. More … not so much.

Andrew Daly, to me, is one of those “Funny once in about twenty appearances.” This isn’t one of those.

The neighbor being a Mrs. Wolowitz type is interesting. But if they were going to really do this they should have started long ago.

The kids: Well, they’re still alive enough to get doped up. That’s going to go well. :dubious:
