The Big Bang Theory, Season 8, Ep. 4 (October 6, 2014) -- "The Hook-up Reverberation" [ed. title]

Howard may still do that – he considers his Mom’s gift money to Stuart to be rightfully his, so he may take a “proprietary interest” in the store. That could make for some funny moments!

No, it had the same commercial time as pretty much all sitcoms on the air, largely the same amount of commercials as last season, the season before, the season before that, etc…

I’ll never understand the complaint about how many commercials there are in broadcast tv. In any given half hour you’re always going to have around 8 minutes of commercials.

Ah, I still think Raj should have called Yvette the Vet. And that Sheldon’s assistant Alex would have been a better match for Leonard than Penny.

Enjoyable as more like their usual episodes. (What? Did the entire writing team take the whole summer off, then come back still pulling on their sneakers, trying to get on track for the Fall? and they finally did a little?) Lapses, disconnections, missed opportunities still blaringly obvious though they’ve finally picked up the thread of established dynamics. I was into it at first (it’s *necessaryI] for Stuart to be a dick about his new-found elevation) but the ending was beyond awful/stupid…Howard would never be complacent over his current usurpation and simply sigh (as they all did.) Not true to character (all of them) at all.

Still not a fan of Penny sporting “the Claire Underwood”.

If they do move forward with her and Leonard getting married, it’ll be interesting to see how they write around never mentioning her last name.

I read somewhere that
…Penny excels at her job as a pharmaceutical rep and ends up making more money than Leonard, which of course causes discord.

Let’s hope she springs for the takeout for everyone once in a while.
Or given that there is now no love for Stuart amongst the gang they may actively try to sabotage the business. And of course those atempts are likely to backfire somehow.

Considering how Howard discarded his early infantile disorder, his jealousy to Stuart is weird. His mom is a bit of a handful and he should be grateful someone is willing to take the strain.

I look forward to him calling Stuart ‘Daddy’.

I like Penny’s hair. Huge improvement, IMHO.

That would be fun. I’d like to see some of that.

I can totally see the change in Stuart being real.

Initially he owns a business that leaves him poor as hell, he lives in the store, and this gives him a sense of being a loser so he acts like one. He has no pride or self worth.

Now he has a job, a roof over his head, and plenty of food. The lady he works for is constantly praising him and going out of her way to take care of him as much as she can i.e. giving him the money for the store. All this gives him his sense of pride and self worth back so now he has a backbone and confidence.

I think the Redhead has some real problems. Her enjoyment of gusher movies I think was intended to suggest she has a dark side. Now she hates Penny. Next thing you know Raj is going to find his dog cooking in a pot on the range.

I think this may have been the first episode that did a wall-straddle shot: Penny and the Redhead shown at the same time on opposite sides of the door.

“Wall-straddle shot” – yeah, that was an interesting (and different) perspective! I sure don’t recall them ever doing it before.

i got the impression that Howard’s mom didn’t get out much because of size.

recent episode has her out buying Stuart.

i get the joke of contrasts of her between Howard being there and Stuart being there.

i don’t think shopping is likely.

She’s been out shopping for Howard multiple times before. Usually for food. And she made it out for the rooftop wedding.

I really don’t get why Raj is more interested in her than Yvette the Vet. Maybe they’re setting up a breakup/depression bit for him, and then Yvette returns?

BTW, yes, the show is now “Friends”. But “Friends” was a good show too. I’m not near ready to consider bailing.

And when Bernadette flaked on her, she took Sheldon clothes shopping with her. It was one of Sheldon’s “Labors of Hercules.”

Debby was at the wedding, goes to water aerobics, went with Sheldon to try on dresses, and on and on.

She gets out.

What’s the problem with horror movies? Everyone has a nerdy thing and liking horror movies is Redhead’s. Honestly, it’s more surprising that none of the seven main characters has any interest in them.

The idea that a woman who enjoys horror movies must have some sort of psychological problems seems very strange.

There was also though the bit she said when asked by Bernadette about why she like being a dermatologist, that she likes to cut into people and, in all other circumstances that is illegal. The fact that the writers had even Bernadette (who one could imagine being written as saying “Yeah, I get that!”) taken aback by that, lends some credence to her slasher fetish, especially being turned on by it, as a Chekhof’s gun.

The question is not if a real life woman who likes slasher movies has some sort of psychlogical problems but if the writers would make that one of this character’s few defining features without planning on using it later.
