Anyone know what season and episode of the Simpsons this little vignette of Ralph being scared into brushing his teeth is in?
I’m not sure but I think it was season four’s Last Exit to Springfield
And so it is. Hot DAMN that was fast! Thanks!
I could be wrong, but are you perhaps thinking of the very early episode in which Lisa is shown a book with that name, and a computer simulation of what she will look like in the future if she doesn’t get dental work? The one with Hoer’s dilemma: ‘Dental plan!’ ‘Lisa needs braces!’ etc. etc. ?
It’s the same episode, but it’s Ralph who is shown the book. The simulation shows Lisa’s teeth becoming increasing grotesque, prompting Bart to say: “Cool, she’ll be a freak! We can go through the South and charge two bits a peek,” or words to that effect.
The dentist in that episode was hysterically creepy (to Ralph: “Why must you turn my office into a house of lies?”), but even he recoiled in horror in the scene when Lisa demanded the mirror.
Yes… I’m going to use that 20-30 second scene to launch an in class presentation on peridontal health. Should get things started with a bang!
Here’s the scene:
Dr. Wolf: How many times a day do you brush, Ralph?
Ralph: Three times a day sir.
Dr. Wolf: Why must you turn my office into a house of LIES?!
Ralph (crying): You’re right sir, I don’t brush. I-don’t-brush!
Dr. Wolf: Let’s look at a picture book, Ralph. ‘The Big Book of British Smiles’!
Ralph (after a few pages): That’s enough! THAT’S ENOUGH!
Is it just me, or does Dr. Wolf sound a lot like Hannibal Lecter?
He’d like some sugarless gum and a nice Lavoris.
